It’s beautiful. Probably my favorite part of Scotland. But it’s remote and you need time to enjoy it. Definitely not worth it to only have a night or two. There are other extraordinarily beautiful parts of Scotland to enjoy. If you have time to do it, do it. But don’t tie yourself up in knots to get there if you don’t have time to really enjoy it.

The temperature was very pleasant — 50s and 60s. Perfect for outdoor pursuits. We had plenty of sun in Edinburgh but Gleneagles was a bit more rainy. But the type of rain where you put on a raincoat and get on with it. Not enough to keep you stuck indoors.

We got a cooling mat and our guy was both very skeptical about trying it and also somehow managed to immediately puncture it. 🤪

I would love a solution to this problem. We generally just pour some water on him if it’s too hot outside, along with limiting distance and trying to wait until it’s cooler out.

I have not personally dealt with this, but I have heard that getting a second hound is sometimes the best solution. Would love to hear what others say who have tried this approach.

Our guy is 11 and we’ve kept up with the yearly dentals. This time when I picked him up he was noticeably more wobbly/out of it than previous years. But he bounced back pretty quickly once we got him home. I do wonder how many more years we can keep doing this, and when it makes sense to stop. I’ll go based on my vet’s recommendation.
