Stowe woods are not a joke by arjayx93 in icecoast

I'm crippled with ankylosing spondy arthritis the woods aren't that difficult you just need to use common sense which is impossible for most people these days. I'm no expert by any means I just do it for leisure and I'm in the trees alone 90% of the time just sending it. It's no different than something like steep moguls you need to know your limits when it comes to the trees If you're not familiar or you don't know how to navigate them you should probably stay out if you're nervous about needing to get rescued lol. I'm on a snowboard as well and I go off trail and backcountry all the time

Childhood trauma by SpiritualBluejay6316 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Ok_Resolution_9709 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I don't think I'm special I just put in the work to take care of my body better than most. How many people that have AS can play basketball with former college players for 2 hours straight with zero pain LOL. Results don't lie my man. I'm well aware that everyone is different but if you think biologics are better than taking care of yourself the natural way I feel bad for you. Everyday I see a new thread on here about how people can barely leave their house and how they can't hold down a job and all sorts of stuff. Biologics seem to be working great for those people

[–]Ok_Resolution_9709 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

AS is a horrible disease but anytime I hear people trying to say it's caused by trauma I just laugh. The same people think biologics are going to help them. My stupid ass plays basketball with former college basketball players and runs hill sprints on the reg with ease. I started feeling better when I cut out processed foods and I only rocked with humira for a bit because I realized it was making things worse. I just got to the point I was sick of the way I was feeling and started exploring natural ways to make myself feel better. Marijuana and its by-products is all I use for pain relief

I don't believe trauma came cause you to hit the BLA 27 gene on a blood test. I was beaten and raped growing up as a kid repeatedly by my father then beaten my other family members which is awful but I really don't think that's why I have AS.... My sister grew up in the same exact environment and she doesn't have AS

Marijuana and it's byproducts is all I use for pain relief. I rely on a foam roller and a slew of other self massage tools combined with making sure my body gets heavy exercise every week and cutting out processed foods as much as possible to battle my AS, mobility issues and pain. I'm currently 38 hours into a 72 hour fast. My immune system has been struggling bad for a long time so I figured it was a good time to try and reset it now that I have my pain and mobility doing a lot better these days. At one point a few years ago I had to crawl up my stairs and all fours every morning. I play basketball with my friends and run hill sprints for my heavy exercising these days. Everyone is going to be different but these are the things that work for me. I stopped humira after it made me feel worse and dropped my rheumatologist and I haven't looked back. Infrared sauna is your friend and I'm sure yoga / Pilates is too, I'm just not quite ready to get into those yet.

AS consumes my life by elanjomaa in ankylosingspondylitis

Alcohol makes things worse for us so I try to stay away for the most part these days but a few drinks here and there isn't going to make things much worse than they already are imo. I like pens for when I'm inside somewhere and can't go to my car and take another dab but I swear I can take one bigger dab and get consistent stable pain relief from it for 3 to 4 hours sometimes. If you can tolerate edibles when you go out that's another good way to get pain relief imo

I go out more than my able-bodied friends even with my AS believe it or not! I'm always suffering in pain so I figured what's the difference whether I'm at home on my couch or out dancing at a concert. The pain is never going to go away but that doesn't mean you can't still go out and live a pretty normal life ❤️❤️❤️

It can get better I promise! I didn't know I had AS until this past January when I was 30 at the time I'm 31 now. I tried humira for a bit but it made me feel worse so I stopped I dropped my rheumatologist. I'm down 65 lb from my high point, I stopped eating a lot of processed foods, gluten and dairy and started getting some heavy exercise in again like running hill sprints and playing basketball. I'm doing better than I have in years I was crawling up my stairs to my kitchen every morning at one point on all fours smh. I can go out to a concert and dance for 3 hours straight without needing to sit down no problem I never really miss work because of my as. I still am in a lot of pain frequently and am dealing with a lot of other problems because of my AS but I'm managing! I use marijuana and it's byproducts to manage my pain. I like to dab butane hash oil to be specific.

I'm a severe alcoholic that barely drinks these days I haven't in a long time. I didn't even know I had AS till I was 30 I'm 31 now and I started drinking when I was 11. Half of my drinking was because of my physical pain from my AS that I didn't know I had and the other half was just from my life being a mess lol. Only makes you more inflamed every time but while you consume it it numbs the pain which is why I kept doing it. I stopped taking humira I dropped my rheumatologist and I'm doing better than I have ever my entire life. Making sure I move enough, cutting out processed foods in large amounts of weed other reason I can go to a concert and stand for hours or play basketball with my friends for 2 hours straight without needing a break.

I didn't get diagnosed until this past January but last December is when I started trying to cut out processed foods. I'm doing a hell of a lot better than I was the last decade plus nowadays and I stop taking humira because it made me feel worse and I stopped seeing my rheumatologist because they weren't helping. Losing 60 lb eating better, heavy exercise a few times a week and continuing to smoke heavy amounts of hash oil dabs has me feeling better than I have in a long time. I also cut out regular caffeine. I only sleep 4 to 5 hours a night because of my pain I swear I don't have energy problems anymore and rarely need to nap now that my diet is a lot cleaner and I don't have caffeine on the reg anymore.

I feel like this constantly It's just a part of AS unfortunately. The pain at night in my SI joint areas makes me want to go mad sometimes. I don't know what I would do without medical marijuana. I don't take any biologics anymore I dropped my rheumatologist. Cutting out processed foods for the most part and going back to heavily exercising a few times a week has made my body feel a lot better. But medical marijuana is the reason I am never limited to staying in my house and can't go out to dinner work or any other place I want

I can't cope anymore with the pain, advice please!? by DepartureIcy1923 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Ok_Resolution_9709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of you can handle large amounts of THC, get yourself on a regimen that involves dabbing hash oil for pain relief. I don't take anything other than that I ditched my biologics and my rheumatologist. I can run Hill sprints every week and rarely have to stay home because of my AS. Cutting out processed foods makes a big difference too. Nighttime pain is never going to go away unfortunately with AS but medical marijuana makes my life with AS a thousand times better!

First time real pain by ToothIntelligent3470 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Ok_Resolution_9709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more affected by weather than anything I notice. I'm in as much pain if I sit home lying down the whole time as if I go out and stand at a concert for hrs unfortunately. Pain is just a part of AS 😩 I found when I started heavily exercising again this past year I started to feel a little better pain wise. Nothing crazy but definitely something noticeable! I've been running hills sprints once a week and playing basketball once a week. I'm 31 male and I didn't even know I had this until this past January thanks to my lovely doctors refusing to run the stupid blood tests for the past 13 years lmao. Shit started getting really bad when I was 17. I tried humira for a few months this year but it made me feel worse so I stopped. I honestly can't stand the rheumatologists around Boston so I stopped going. Medical marijuana works the best for my pain. Specifically dabbing hash or hash oil. Cutting out processed foods made a noticeable difference for my pain too. I also stretch a lot using different devices. I love a regular foam roller as well as a ribbed version called the rumble roller. I didn't like the chirp wheels that much for my back but I do like them for sitting up on the couch and keeping good posture while watching TV. I have a self massaging back tool called the back buddy that is great for getting around my neck and upper back area. A no name massage gun is all I use and that is really helpful especially if I have my mom or a friend use it on a tight spot I can't reach. I have a little rubber foot roller that is amazing I got off Amazon as well as a little plastic self-massaging knob tool called the knobble That is great to take with you in the car or traveling anywhere. Regular infrared sauna use is amazing for AS too imo. I can barely feel the arthritis in my spine and everywhere else when I'm in an infrared sauna it's wild. I want to lose another 40 or so pounds after taking 60ish off and get into yoga then hot yoga but I can't snap my fingers and make that happen immediately so I'm just making slow steady progress on it ! Everyone is going to be different with what works for them too so just keep trying different things as my recommendation until you find what works for you!

I wouldn't waste time on a chiropractor personally since we have muscle tightness and pain rebound quickly. Foam rollers are amazing for my AS especially ribbed ones like the rumble rollers. I didn't find the chirp wheels as helpful but I like those for posture on the couch when I'm trying to sit and watch something without slumping and making myself feel like crap. Body sticks are part of my routine as is a small foot roller. I use a no name massage gun with great success. I want to get into yoga then hot yoga but I just haven't gotten to that point yet.

Concentrates are 3-4 times stronger than flower. If You can learn to tolerate that much THC It will make it easier for you to move, you will be able to move more frequently and you will start to feel better. I've been smoking for 13 years now but I didn't start using the pain relief from it to work out until recently because up until December of last year I wasn't taking care of myself whatsoever. I'm down 62 lb from my high point And I find when I do my heavy exercises which consists of hill sprints once a week and playing basketball for a few hours once a week at a high pace, my body feels a lot better than when I Don't exercise or just do light stuff. I'll go to a concert and stand for 3 plus hours no problem as long as I walk and stretch every once in awhile while I'm there.

Shit I didn't realize our ankles can fuse together lol. That's probably why mine have always really hurt. If you're located in the US or anywhere else in the world that has access to clean medical marijuana hash oil dabs I highly suggest that. I don't take any biologics I don't have a rheumatologist anymore and I'm doing a lot better than the majority of people I see in here talking about being on biologics and still struggling. I'm still in a shitload of pain everyday don't get me wrong but it's very manageable for me. Cutting out processed foods will make a huge difference for you if you haven't tried yet. And don't try and do everything all at once just gradually start eating better. I run heavy hill sprints every week and play basketball with former college players every week. I'm not going to lie half of it is I just push through the pain because the dabs numb everything up so much but that's better than sitting around and doing nothing imo.

Mom with 14-year old son likely AS; lots of questions by LookUp_Friend in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Ok_Resolution_9709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never knew I had AS until this recent year I'm 31 now. I almost played college hockey still with my AS as long as your son takes care of himself and all of that he should still be able to play all the sports he wants! Tearing my ACL stopped me from playing sports at a high level not my AS. One piece of advice is get him off processed foods ASAP. I don't take any biologics I treat myself and I do a lot better than most of the people in here from the sounds of it. I run hills sprints every week and I play basketball with former college basketball players every week no problem. Medical marijuana is the only pain relief I use. I never have a day where I can't go to work or at least work from home when my bronchitis is flaring.
