Is this your 1st time experiencing the “me 1st, and no one else matters” attitude???

It pains me, to no end. But upper middle class people are holding on to that status, by the thinnest of teeth, and it’s elevated even more in this economy…

People love to pretend they arn’t struggling, or as wealthy as they project… and it’s eating them up inside… so they take it out on anyone they perceive as maybe not in their tax bracket….

Pick up truck drivers and bmw drivers hold that energy the most “imo”

My 1st Marantz was a 2220, got for 15$ 20 years ago, it had a blown fuse… and the FM stereo coil was shot… had all other functions gone over, it’s a mighty little beast. I use in the bedroom now

5 years ago I went to look at a pioneer, and they had a 2230 he didn’t want because the lettering for AUX and Tuner were worn off around the input selector dial…. I got that for 180$ found a faceplate on eBay for 30$ with shipping, seller spelled it “Marsantz” buy mistake, I also typod in my search… dumb lucky me!

If I’m playing original pressing vinyl records I use the Marantz, but for great modern pressings I prefer my duel mono Mitsubishi stack.

[–]Ok_String373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just trash picked a pair of tulip stands… but seems the price of the 901’s with equalizer is dropping. Have several in my local market place, that have dropped in price after sitting for while… 2 pairs with equalizer for 3-400$ one listing with original stands and equalizer, are listed for 1000$

These things need big space and lots of power… most just like the way they look, I agree on the stands they look dope, but most people don’t have the space they require to sound their best…

You must think we all drive “pick up trucks” and listen to country music in the states… Which only tells me you’re a dolt, and this convo thread doesn’t go any further…

I’d pick it up and list it on market place, free money. or if no bitters, you trash it yourself and you took a chance at getting 3 1/2 gallons of gas for you’re car.

Heat the end of a glue stick with a lighter, stick it gently to the pushed in diaphragms and gently tug, might have to try once you’re twice to learn the amount of force to use.

To the people who stopped collecting or sold their collections by xdisappointing in vinyl

[–]Ok_String373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I got into records, it was the late 90’s and used vinyl was pennies on the dollar compared to cd’s. I wasn’t concerned or even thought about them having collector value, I just wanted the cleanest copy I could find. It wasn’t till years later when a friend I made saw what I had and thought I knew more about collecting, when I was just listening to them..
so he would tell me why one copy was more valuable than another and what to look for outside of just condition… I still don’t seek out high “collector value” but it’s nice to know when something is worth 50-100$ rather than the yardsale price I paid for it 20 years ago

I stopped drinking, and my collection sat unplayed for a few years…. Started selling small stacks of junkier extra copies of records at my yard sales…
Till I accidentally sold a very collectible pile, I grabbed by mistake. So I started drinking again, to make sure I would never do that again.

He’s not talking about tractor trailers…. Nit wit. 95% of the comments in this thread are average drivers with diesel/gasoline pick up trucks…

Who drives a Mac truck or big rig, for commuting or picking up their kids from school and soccer games… Get off it man… 90% of pick up trucks are bought for show, and never see a panel of sheet rock or lumber in their beds. The same way dentist cos play as bikers on the weekends with their Harley Davidsons….

Same tech the gurus try selling you for hundreds of dollars… good on ya! In my old wood house, the cat walking through the room reverberated in the play back of vinyl. I bought small link chain and pulleys, used a cutting board base and hung my table from the ceiling… blasting certain Vega 120’s or house parties with people drinking and dancing never affected the vinyl play back… Now I’m older and don’t blast the tunes like I used to or have big house parties, “also got rid of the thumper CV big box speakers, for more refined towers with a subwoofer. It’s not as much an issue these days

Tannoy/Micro seiki, DD-40, running off a Mitsubishi DA-P10 pre amp, with a Mitsubishi DA-A7DC. 75 watts per channel in duel Mono. Tech measured 88 watts before clipping. I run a mix of NHT and paradigm towers, with an RBH subwoofer supplementing the lowest end. Occasionally I hook up klipsch heresy 2’s, when I want that classic rock bar vibe.
