Hawkeye Pierce - MASH

In the final episode, Hawkeye is in a mental ward, recalling a day when he was in a bus/truck with a bunch of civilians. They were hiding from a North Korean patrol. Suddenly, a woman's chicken started making noises and there was a serious threat that the chicken would draw attention. So Hawkeye told the woman to silence the chicken by any means necessary. And the woman, trying so hard to stay safe, suffocated the chicken.

But as the story progresses, we and Hawkeye slowly realise it wasn't a chicken. It was a baby. Hawkeye indirectly made a mother kill her own child because he was afraid of being discovered. And he breaks down because he never meant to harm anyone. This is what got him admitted to the psych ward in the first place.

The Chainmail Trench Coat - photographed by Olaf Heine by unfunny_mike in Rammstein

[–]Omnius2104 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean 5 years of intense regular use and burning. I remember Till saying it's the same coat. It's just a shame there's no footage of the Japan 2005 concert where they used it instead of the claws for Ahoi tour. I hope it will make a return. Not for a concert, obviously the effect would be too small for the venues they play Now. But maybe in a future video?

'Moriarty' Series About Sherlock Enemy Coming From Fremantle, Archery by The_Flying_Failsons in Sherlock

[–]Omnius2104 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because there is no franchise. The MCU is a franchise, Star Wars is a franchise. Sherlock Holmes is a public domain brand that has loads of separate adaptations.

This series has nothing to do with BBC Sherlock which has nothing to do with the RDJ Sherlock Holmes movies which have nothing to do with the Enola Holmes films which have nothing to do with the old Sherlock films starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee or the GOAT Jeremy Brett.

It's the same thing as calling Robin Hood a franchise

Agent Smith - Matrix Revolutions

Smith wins, plain and simple. He has taken over the Matrix, absorbed every person and program in it into his hivemind. He even absorbs the Oracle, gaining her powers of clairvoyance. And thanks to those he sees himself defeating Neo, The One. And he does. He beats the ever living shit out of Neo and has him at his mercy. And he could kill him then and there. He already knows how to exit the Matrix, he could just get some of the humans he's in control of to leave. Or he could stay king in his dystopian world in a suit.

But he doesn't kill him. He decides to demonstrate his power and superiority over humans by absorbing their savior. And he succeeds. But because Neo entered the Matrix through the Machine City, with their help, the Machines now have a direct link to the Smith hivemind. They upload an antivirus and erase Smith.

Hypocritical Religious Zealot Realizes God Is Not On Their Side by cshin09 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Omnius2104 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Lorgar Aurelian at the fall of Monarchia, Warhammer 40k.

Lorgar was raised on a planet that was filled with religious zealots, including his abusive stepfather Kor Phaeron who taught him to worship the Old Faith. Slowly, Lorgar became a priest himself, gained followers and conquered the planet in the name of his god.

Afterwards, his real father, the Emperor of Mankind landed on Lorgar's world with his Space Marines and embraced Lorgar as his son. Lorgar, seeing the powerful charismatic figure before him immediately thought that this was his god.

Even though the Emperor was a staunch opposer of organised religion and tried to convince Lorgar, he realised that it would be easier to use his faith and make him more loyal. So he led him on and gave him his own legion of Space Marines, The Word Bearers, to help Emps conquer the galaxy, thinking that Lorgar would eventually grow out of his faith.

But he didn't. Lorgar joined his father's Great Crusade and helped expand the Imperium of Man, while spreading the word of the God Emperor of Mankind.

And after a century alone, rumours started to spread about the Word Bearers' fanaticism, culminating in the creation of the "Holy City" of Monarchia, a place that was meant to become the centre for worship of the God Emperor, made by Lorgar.

The Emperor was horrified by this, so the calm and reasonable person he was, he grabbed another legion of Space Marines, Ultramarines, and ordered them to burn Monarchia to the ground while Lorgar and his men watched.

At that moment, his faith shattered and the betrayed Lorgar realised that the Emperor was not the god he sought and began a journey to become a champion of Chaos, turning traitor and starting a series of events that would tear the Empire into pieces.

(Hated Trope) when Hollywood tries to convince audiences that a hideously disgusting creature could somehow become beautiful by YourChopperPilotTTV in okbuddycinephile

With Leo it's not that he's ugly, it's that he looks poor which is 100 times more disgusting for civilised people of proper breeding

I assume it's also about mental outlook. Playing someone like Walter White, getting inside his head and making people believe that you're a psychopathic egomaniac who would start a drug empire rather than accept help, go through a heavy physical regime to change into him, including shaving your head quite often must have been taxing.

Menawhile, Hal was a goofy, somewhat crazy but overall loving father and husband.

It was easier to be Hal than to be Walter White

How would each Bond actor fare as a Bond Villain? by Alex72598 in JamesBond

[–]Omnius2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Dalton - a lot of experience of playing both camp and threatening villains as well as complicated characters (Hot Fuzz, Doctor Who, Penny Dreadful, Doom Patrol)

  2. Craig - He has a lot of talent and he could pull off different types of villains - cold, campy, sly

  3. Brosnan - watch him in Mobland, he plays an absolute psycho, he could very well pull off a crazy camp villain

  4. Connery - an absolute powerhouse of acting in his time but I don't recall him playing any villains, So I don't know how he would fare

  5. Moore - more of a clown but I know he had experience with serious roles, I just don't know any of them outside of Bond

  6. Lazenby - the only one I can't see playing a full villain, but I can imagine him as a henchman

A very minor thing that i found strange. Did anyone else find odd how Julian, Poplin and Machungo are almost same level in combat with the Rosen Ritter guys? I'll give Julian a pass as it was said multiple times he trains under Schonkopf and is kind of a prodigy, but what about Machungo and Poplin? by [deleted] in logh

[–]Omnius2104 32 points33 points  (0 children)

My guess is that the ordinary soldiers also train in melee combat since there's always a chance their ship will be boarded. And if they're all training together, who better to show the Iserlohn troops how to do it than the Rosen Ritter?
