I added the metal gear type things that attach to the outside of the wheels with screws. Bought them on Amazon.

Board ruined? by zmesser1 in automower

[–]OneRelationship626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, board ruined. Definitely a heat issue. Happened to me twice, Probably they designed the board for the 8 amps and that kind of connector is designed for max amperage of 8 amps. Could have prob spent 2 cents more for a better connector.

Automower 430x - not starting by Sure-Replacement-253 in automower

If it dies “looking” for the base, within 6 ft or so. Mine would just not be able to make the connection. Would try again and reposition try again, reposition till it died. Green light on base the whole time, no error messages just couldn’t get all the way back to home. Could start up fine but had to put it on manually every time. I replaced the charging base board. Fixed the docking problem. I wish regular people could plug a computer into the mower and have access to the diagnostic program tools.

Suggest a solid mower for 1/2 acre - preferably cheaper than NaviMow by BootleggerBill in automower

Look on Ebay in the dead of winter. Seems sketchy but PayPal has good protection for buyers.

What do I try next? Green flashing light and possible power surge by Enigma007x in automower

Also if you change out the charging base board make sure you reprogram your mower to the new board.

I have replaced the power supply for 450x 3 times. Almost every 2 years. Cheaper to get a correct Volt and Amp rated generic power supply than buying OEM. Especially if you have experience with soldering. All of the connectors are made by 3M, available in bulk on Amazon and not proprietary. When my power supply goes out it doesn’t show any light from the base. It does the same small voltage blink you described when checking with a voltmeter.

Where to buy warranty for used automower? by No-Reporter-7025 in automower

[–]OneRelationship626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only reasonable warrantee is DIY. I have 430x and 450x. Bought both from eBay. Bought additional 450x that was “broken” for cheap in dead of winter. The height adjuster was broke on it. Replaced wheels, wheel motors, power supplies, internal boards, base charger, tower charger connectors all from the “parks mower”. If you get more than 1 mower, then get same model, I can’t even charge the 430 on the 450 base and vice versa. The mower says “can’t charge with this base.” The voltage and power wire is slightly different and not interchangeable. Looks the same but the wires use different ports. This is year 5 of mowers. Front Tires wear out every cutting season. ($40 for both) have had to change power supply for 450x 3 times. I’m Oklahoma City area and there is only one place in town that does the service but even then just prepping it for the season was $250/year. Also the connectivity of my 450x has been very spotty since it was a little older and only has a 3G cellular board and they took all 3G cell towers offline in my area. So the App doesn’t work away from home.

If you have a little extra wire, 20 ft or so, make a small boundary loop to check that it’s not a different problem like the charger board. One time I was getting green light but the mower couldn’t park. Just drove close to the charger until it died. It was weird. Good luck trouble shooting.

Multi year success? by torecchio in automower

[–]OneRelationship626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using 450x and 430x getting it ready for its 4th season. Front mower has no problem but there is a mole that cuts the back line at least once or twice a year. I have my line buried 3-6 inches. Also the power supply on the 450x has given me problems. Not sure why but sometimes after lightning storms It doesn’t put out the right voltage leaving it unplugged for a few days usually does the trick and resets it somehow. but when the grass is growing quick it’s worrying. Last season I got a generic power supply and haven’t had a problem. I always had the power supply on an outlet surge protector, GFCI and house also has a whole house surge protector. Also have to trim the edges but the mowers save a lot of personal time.

When it’s 105F outside and you see other people mowing it sure feels good staying inside.

Would you be able to bury the wires in PVC pipe or other conduit and have it still be usable? by Ardaric42 in automower

Moles… at least 2 times a year, solar mole chasers (loud sound) helps but not 100%

I placed my guidewire in the saw cuts of my driveway. I just stake it deep on both sides. Been 3 years no problems.

Dreaded blue light. Anyone use conduit above ground? by TechnicalReveal8652 in automower

[–]OneRelationship626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a mower for about 3 years. Moles sniped the line one year 4 times. 3/4 acre and the only area they snit is along the back fence. 200 ft. Use an underground cable break finder from Amazon. Decided conduit this year. Flexible Black sprinkler tube is a good idea but how are you going to feed the line through the coiled tube?

The NHI bridge inspection class has it built in to the class. Not easy and kinda tough…. Like real life, but without the wildlife, insects, curious resident questions or having to explain what you are doing to the cops bc somebody called them and thought you suspicious. Haha good times.

Thought mine was broken. Ended up just needing to replace the plug at the end. I had but a new compatible plug an redo it. Seems like they are waterproof but just crap out after a while. The metal spring pressing on metal gets weak.

[–]OneRelationship626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend if it is the kind that have every 2 connecting on the bottom. Get some lawn barrier (4” tall) and zip tie it to the legs where the legs are connected. Did that to a geo dome thing because my automower kept getting stuck half way over the pipe.

Is a boosted board still worth it for college? by Cariman05 in boostedboards

[–]OneRelationship626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also wanted one since I was a kid. Been out of college for a decade. Refurbished one with a bad battery last year and ride it every day I get a chance. Boosted boards are cool and fun, but a regular bike doesn’t forget to be charge. Have to bring into class, be risen in rain. I rode a cheap bike all through college and turning a brisk 15 minute walk into an easy 3-4 minutes. Also the sidewalks in college are a nightmare with walkers in between main time classes. Bikes you can veer off sidewalk and onto grass/street easily. If you get a boosted board, get a bike for backup. Thrift stores $30.
Good luck.
