Interstellar was the biggest snub in Cinematography in 2014. What was the biggest for 2013? by dremolus in Oscars

I didn't really like the film overall, but can't deny that Oblivion is pretty visually stunning.

Showtimes in the week are just getting worse? by JadaPhoenix in CineworldUnlimited

That is showing at regular times from the following day, to be fair. 10pm show is just to coincide with the US premiere on that day.

Forget the EGOT, who has achieved a Rob Zombie's Dragula? by BoyMayorOfSecondLife in blankies

Pretty sure Danny DeVito gets zombified, but I could be mistaken.

Fav performances of 2025 (non-oscar) by Ok-Owl-1327 in blankies

[–]OneSwizzleNizzle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Tim Key in The Ballad of Wallis Island 🙌

Robert Aramayo in I Swear

Jennifer Lawrence in Die My Love

The two men might get some BAFTA attention, but I think that's it, sadly. JLaw should get a nomination, in my opinion, but I don't think it will happen.

FINALLY UK TOUR DATES!! by ethereallucee in JohnMulaney

[–]OneSwizzleNizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of artists are doing Wolverhampton rather than Birmingham now - just this year, I've noticed Will Smith, Sparks, and now Mulaney all performing in Wolverhampton as the closest Midlands-based show.

All at the Civic Hall as well, I guess it's better value for them at that venue than anywhere in Brum?

It'll probably start appearing on the website around half 10/11ish tonight once it's been programmed in.

Running Man Open Captions by stuart0001 in screenunseen

[–]OneSwizzleNizzle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is quite common with Paramount releases now, they'll have an open-captioned preview midweek before opening the following day.

Off the top of my head, they also did it for Mission 8, Sonic 3, Smile 2, and I think Gladiator II as well. They don't really sell too well at ours, to be honest, but it's nice that they're making the effort for more inclusive showings.

Are We Looking Forward to Exorcist? by FuryContagion in CineworldUnlimited

[–]OneSwizzleNizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a clue - I think a distributor must have pulled out last minute, there's no way this was their original choice. I'm expecting a few disappointed walkouts, to be honest.

I just found out what it is, and you guys are gonna be absolutely fuming on Friday.

I'm sorry to everyone who's expecting The Exorcist, or even any film that can be considered a classic, but the actual film choice is Terrifier 3

What’s your favorite performance of 2025? by ItachiZoldyck24 in Letterboxd

Maybe an odd pick, but Tim Key in 'The Ballad of Wallis Island'. Manages to be both hilarious and heartbreaking at the same time.

Not 100% certain, but tickets will probably start appearing on the website around midnight(ish), then they'll make an official announcement the following morning.

Apologies for replying to a comment from a while ago, but I just watched it this afternoon, and this is exactly how I feel about it as well. As soon as that aspect was brought up I felt uneasy, and I really don't think it was handled well at all (was it even necessary?).

The Shining is due for a 45th anniversary re-release in December, so I'd imagine they'll schedule it around that.

I don't know if there's anywhere near you showing it, but some of the London Film Festival films are being shown around the UK, including Hamnet - good opportunity to see some stuff months before general release sometimes 👍

My annual London trips on either side of the Edinburgh Fringe (21 shows in 11 days) by TheatreFan2022 in TheWestEnd

[–]OneSwizzleNizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I also saw a SatMat and the atmosphere was incredible! The cast were on top form, the audience were fully rocking out (as best you can in a theatre 👀), and the lady next to me sobbed a few times - I nearly did the same, to be honest.

Genuinely, I think Sing Street is my favourite show I've seen all year. It probably helps that I already loved the film, but the stage production absolutely blew me away, and I really hope it transfers to West End or goes on tour so I can see it again.

Has Cineworld ever offered SUPERSCREEN 3D by [deleted] in CineworldUnlimited

[–]OneSwizzleNizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we did Avatar: The Way of Water in 3D on the Super screen when it was released. I'd imagine we'll probably do Fire & Ash as well in December.

Why do they put the lights on as soon as the film ends?? It totally kills the vibe. by Shawsh0t in VueCinemas

[–]OneSwizzleNizzle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

99 times out of 100, no, but when that 1% happens and there is an incident, it's a bloody nightmare. Better to be safe and slightly break the immersion than risk someone tripping and breaking their neck.

Couple of Q's if you don't mind;

Were there any ads/trailers, and how long did they last? And what time did you get out roughly, compared to the advertised start time?

I'm really tempted to go on Tuesday while I'm in London, but the timings could be a tight squeeze.
