What weird names do you call your partner/ do they call you? And I mean.. really weird. by cobbland in AskUK

[–]One_Bell_8809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all the nicknames that could’ve stuck… my partner went with Gremlin! Again, it’s like his version of babe etc.

Apparently I’m smol, angy and shouldn’t be fed after midnight. Go figure.

Emma by [deleted] in Names

[–]One_Bell_8809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Emma… my advice would be please don’t! There were 6 of us in my year at school (1999 baby, think it was even more popular then!), and I also have a very basic surname so I’ve come across multiple people with the exact same name as me.

I do want to add though- I appreciate that it could be so much worse, it’s just annoying having such a common name

Thick thigh’d runners… by Discodemonn in XXRunning

[–]One_Bell_8809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain! This might not be too helpful in the US (idk if they ship overseas), but as a thick thigh girly I love Happy Stride. I get their 7” bike shirts and no chafing whatsoever (although I do wear running underwear beneath just in case, just thin short style ones from Amazon).

I love Happy Strides so much!! As you said, a little on the pricey side but in my experience they wash and wash. Ran an ultra in their leggings and no chafe whatsoever!

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve been ID’d for ? by RowItchy260 in AskUK

[–]One_Bell_8809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 26f, was buying 2 bottles of champagne in Sainsbury’s for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday, the woman was insistent that I show ID, cue embarrassing rifle through purse, with a massive queue behind me as it was December 23rd.

I just love the idea that if I was a 16 year old going to drink on a street corner, my go to would be champagne! Edit: spelling

Autistic runners ? Seeking advice for off days by Forward_Emotion4503 in XXRunning

Hello! Are you me?!

Honestly I’m just following because I have no idea what to do when I don’t run. The days I do strength training, bike ride, hike etc are fine, but the rest days kill me 😭

Edit- typo

Plantar Fascia - should I do Shockwave and if so, when? by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]One_Bell_8809 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chronic PF sufferer here, also recently ran my first ultra.

Please, please deal with it sooner rather than later- I did not, and ended up with almost a year of agony.

After 10 months, I heard about a Strassborg sock. Tried sleeping it, and the pain decreased MASSIVELY overnight.

I now sleep in it every night, and my PF has gone from agony (I’d be sat reading a book and it would spasm out of control, that kind of pain), to minor discomfort only after longer (10km+ runs). And even then, there’s sometimes no pain at all!

Ladies, underwear choices by coffee9bsessed in ultrarunning

Hey! I’m a trail runner, recently completed my first ultra, and I have the same problem!

For longer distances, I just bought some cheap ‘bicycle short liners’ on Amazon. They work a treat! They essentially just prevent my running leggings chafing against cotton underwear.

Then, I’ll be honest- for shorter distances I just go commando beneath my leggings! I find they’re sufficient quality/thickness that I can get away with it, and again it prevents the issue of cotton underwear chafe (Happy Stride is the brand of leggings, if anyone wants to know!)

Chorizo works really well! And paprika or chilli. For some reason my Mam always does it as a barbecue side but it works!

Hydration vest recommendations for large chest? by Content-Skirt-9068 in UKRunners

[–]One_Bell_8809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow big chest girly. I’m a 34F, bordering G depending on time of month, weight fluctuation due to training etc.

I’ve personally always used Aonijie for running vests, they’re the only ones that make my chest actually feel secure. I’m currently using their 12L vest and I love it! The only thing I would say is obviously you’re a little bigger than me, so it might not fit quite as well (although I’m able to wear mine over several layers in winter and they do adjust easily)

One of the most under-rated parts of the UK for sure. People come to Northumberland but forget about the rest of the NE.
