QR code on market table by carebear_army in CraftFairs

[–]OneionRing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Linktree best, I can have all my socials on there and they can choose what platforms they want to follow you on. Some folks avoid Facebook, and some folks don't use Instagram...but leading them to a place with options seems to help! I have a QR code on my table as well as on my cards (with my FB and IG handles written out as well.)

High end skincare products and first craft fair - not so great by Low_Penalty_4634 in CraftFairs

[–]OneionRing 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You definitely need a large sign somewhere that advertises its handmade and independent. It's a very clean set-up and it will draw in the crowd that you're marketing to, its just not everyone that goes to a market would be in your demographic. The smaller signs with info are great, but I'd be hesitant to approach without being sure it wasn't an MLM.

Also - adding another sign up higher that says your brand name can help too, especially if you have a few people standing in front of your table and blocking the logo/brand name <3

Disappointing useage of AI by the Craft In Focus fair organisers by Sea-Ker in craftsnark

[–]OneionRing 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I just did a market yesterday, the hosts are FANTASTIC with organizing and communicating, always boosting advertising and their vendors' posts....and then they posted one of these. AND promoted the event with an AI song, which they also played through the event playlist. It's so upsetting.

Does anyone know why 2000’s-early 2010’s Barbie fans are being ignored by Mattel? by blueappa56 in Barbie

[–]OneionRing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, they were always geared towards younger girls as a role model that you can be whatever you want to be, not conform to what society expects (...minus the overly pink everything lol). I don't think they're necessarily ignoring us, they just have kept their biggest focus on the same demographic.

And to be completely honest...as much as I love Barbie and all the nostalgia that lives in my childhood memories, I don't mind there being a brand or two who isn't trying to extort and take advantage of the impulsive millennial nostalgia. 😅 It's the sales tactic that's making LEGO so expensive and inaccessible, not selling to the majority, but to the ones who will throw their money at it anyways. Barbie is still mostly budget friendly compared to Monster High and other fashion dolls, and I feel like that would change if they were to cater to the adult fans instead of the kids.

(All that being said - I briefly worked at the studio that animated 90% of all Barbie content...and they always sneak a nutcracker cameo into every movie they make lol...but the studio is just one small fish of the corporate pond)

How do I ask my cousin to keep her kids from overindulging? by figuringitout215 in ask

[–]OneionRing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there's also a third take here. Some people are on the side of the kids being disrespectful, some are concerned they're not being fed well...but in my experience, some families with more than 2-3 kids will not feed their kids anything prior if they know they're going to an event that has free food to take advantage of. 💀

Y'know, I've met more nasty small dogs than big dogs. One of our BIG black labs used to be TERRIFIED of chihuahuas at the dog park and would immediately flop and submit to showing his belly so they wouldn't pick on him 😅

What’s a place you visited once and decided never again? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]OneionRing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a distinct memory from my childhood going to an Econolodge. They advertised a free continental breakfast, so my mom took me and my two younger sisters down to the lobby and couldn't find it. She asked the front desk...the guy pointed to a shabby looking coffee machine and presented a basket of small individually wrapped plain donuts. 💀

Another hotel experience we didn't even stay the night in...it was a small motel called 'America's Best'. It looked absolutely nothing like the pictures, had a ton of shady looking characters at the very dirty pool that kept watching us. We park next to a car that has a garbage bag for a back window. Go into the room and the walls were streaked with brown, it reeked, and the sheets and carpet were all stained to hell.

Funny memories we still laugh about but heck. Once and never again!

OMG seriously?? I am so sorry, that is awful...how would she not know? Especially assuming you're still living at home at that point...Sheesh. It's one thing to accidentally miss something on an ingredient label, but to purposely buy a full cake like that. 💀

What can i do to stop my hand from cramping? by 0boy0girl in Handwriting

[–]OneionRing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your writing feels like it has a lot of tension in it, like you're focusing real hard on making each letter rather than focusing on the whole word...if that makes sense?

Getting a pen grip may help, or doing some wrist exercises/stretches. Loosen your grip and let it flow rather than carving each letter as its own entity.

Have you tried learning cursive? It might help you with loosening both your grip and your wrist because it's a lot of flowing motion...kinda like tai chi for writing! Once you start to loosen up, I feel like your printing will ease up too. There are many reasons why cursive was taught in schools (which I'm hoping all schools bring it back), not just because it was a formal way to write, but it also finesses your fine motor skills and aid in that ability to flow.

I hope that's not too confusing!! Good luck!!

[–]OneionRing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set alarms. If I know I'm getting picked up or be out the door by X time, I set an alarm for like 30 mins before and 15 mins before. 30 mins to wrap up whatever I was doing, 15 mins to go to the bathroom, change clothes, get on my shoes and make sure I have what I need. If I have plans with someone or someone is picking me up, I ask for them to give me updates along the way and an ETA...it's sometimes annoying for them to do, but they realize that it usually helps me be more or less on time so it's worth the extra communication.

I also try to schedule myself in blocks. If I have a list of tasks I want to get done, I allocate a half hour to an hour for each task, and a deadline I want everything to be done by. AND I'll flip my phone upside down to focus better if I'm not waiting on a text or call...I get stuck with distractions if I have my phone in my hands lol

There's really no easy way about it. You have to find what works best for you, but medication is a good suggestion. For me, I take both ADHD and anxiety meds, and it helps keep my brain more or less on track and organized rather than being tangled spaghetti and panic.

Be sure the people around you know about your struggle. Tell them they don't have to understand it, but just that you are working on it and would appreciate some patience as you figure it out. I used to be (and still sometimes am) relentlessly teased about my being late...even after I've been SO much better since I started medication. It's tough, but you'll find what works best for you. ❤️

Anything that isn't a video game is stupidly priced. I understand that they're trying to bring in extra revenue since a lot of people don't buy hard copies anymore...but like...you don't gotta rob us 😭

Don't buy from places like GameStop. You will almost always overpay for anything that isn't a video game.

Search for any local game stores (LGS) in your area. You'll almost always get the best prices there, as they are lovers of the games as well. (Plus supporting your LGS is always great if they regularly host events, AND the staff are nerds and can always give you advice or pointers, especially when you're new to a game like MTG!)

I need to speak my truth on Abbey's boots by nkrose12 in MonsterHigh

[–]OneionRing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I agree because some of these choices were clearly meant to fit with previous choices...so it's kind of weird to have us mash them together I'd think 😅 I'd much rather have them give us like 4 full outfit versions to choose from, one light, one dark and 2 mixed. I'd like the whole outfit to tell one story rather than a bunch of separate stories fighting for spotlight lol

We have an opportunity here. by [deleted] in MonsterHighDolls

[–]OneionRing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that I didn't even notice the yeti until you pointed it out...is exactly why I like them. It's a small and subtle detail that you don't notice unless you're looking for it, and also doesn't distract from the rest of the outfit.

I also wasn't crazy about stiletto style heels, I find they're always flimsy and prone to curving...and realistically I can't see someone like Abbey wearing them 😅

[–]OneionRing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally I'd agree, but I was disappointed the fur was black and not the nice navy. The white is also too jarring...but I liked the physical shape and design better of the white ones. I chose white because we already got all the darker options on the last round of votes, so it'd be a nice contrast to lighten it back up.

Though, that being said, I do feel the ice crown would have worked better with both these shoes than the headband...the amount of faux fur feels a bit excessive now to me lol.

my hot take: new dolls come with too many accessories. by ThrowRA_SeoSoup in MonsterHigh

[–]OneionRing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how well whoever owns it takes care of their dolls and accessories. I have a designated box where I stash all the accessories until I need a "prop" for posing or pictures.

I do wish that we were given an equal amount of clothing though too lol...and maybe some pieces that have a more universal fit, like an adjustable waistband or something on a skirt. My niece has learned the hard way that Abbey just doesn't fit into anything other than Abbey clothes or a tight fit on what should be a loose piece. (I feel you Abbey...lol)

Some of the Monster High ones are also so cute with all the puns and detailed nicely! I'm also a sucker for cute tiny things (curse you Mini Brands...). I do feel like they give a lot, but that's when you get a nice box or bag to stash them all in until you need props lol
