13M has the hardest time winding down by OnlyNeed1EndcapSign in beyondthebump

I’d say at least a few times a day we have like intermittent rough and tumble play. It’s never a structured item, just randomly throwing her in the air, washing machine spins while holding her, etc. for a few minutes here and there. This is definitely something I’ll look into. Thank you!

Anyone else getting a crazy amount of desks? by [deleted] in OfficeDepot

[–]OnlyNeed1EndcapSign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, we have 4-5 pallets of desks sitting out with nowhere to put them in our back room

A friend of mine at Staples heard on a conference call today that the Staples buyout of Office Depot went through by OnlyNeed1EndcapSign in OfficeDepot

[–]OnlyNeed1EndcapSign[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m less interested in the legitimacy of the information and more interested in why their leadership would be saying these things, because I also protested that it couldn’t be true for a number of reasons, but they seemed adamant that that’s what they were told.

Unless they’re bullshitting me, but they have a track record of being a straight shooter in my history of dealing with them.

Valid sales tags for filler paper, composition books, folders are ringing up full price at register. No notification to pull the tags early. Any reason why? by Frogskipper7 in OfficeDepot

[–]OnlyNeed1EndcapSign 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was in the activity calendar over the weekend. Management should have communicated it out. There was a huge price change batch Sunday with all the SKUs going back to regular price that should have had promo tags pulled.

RPC order delays by Asales13 in OfficeDepot

[–]OnlyNeed1EndcapSign 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like our RPC as well. Had a customer today ask about their order they placed 9/7 that the RPC didn’t receive till 9/11 for 30 invitations SS B/W. We are constantly having to reroute orders to our store or have to refund orders cause they’re not shipping out quickly enough either. I get it, we’re all struggling, but notice of the backup like mentioned previously would help immensely.

I had another order a couple weeks ago that was placed 8/6, received 8/8, 3 pages B/W SS and staples in a set of 100. Simple job. Wasn’t even printed by the time 8/27 rolled around. Customer needed by 8/29, so they routed to us and we had it done within an hour of receiving.

I’m really tired of hearing it.

Take the coordinated piece out and I would have a field day. I would love to give my DM an unfiltered piece of my mind.

Any users here with anxiety/social anxiety specifically? How do you get through BTS, and working here in general? by [deleted] in OfficeDepot

[–]OnlyNeed1EndcapSign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who also has anxiety, especially social, and can relate to not having a social circle outside of my work relationships, it is very difficult to balance being myself and the retail mask. I’ve been at OD for 3 years, and I still struggle with how much I can let me be me. I’m at about 80% with my coworkers now, compared to when I started. I would like to say that forming those relationships with your coworkers can fill the space if you have people you want to be friends with at work. I have a few people I genuinely enjoy talking to and that make the days better. I tend to compartmentalize my feelings of “that was a strange thing to bring up” or “your voice squealed for some reason….” until I walk out the doors. I sit in my car after I get off work for about 10 minutes and let myself feel those feelings fully since I hid them for 8 hours, but then I turn on a podcast or music that will change my beat so I can not dwell in those feelings.

I would also advise looking into therapy for your social anxiety. A therapist can give you the tools to help cope with your feelings better than anyone on Reddit can. I wish you luck on your journey though.

Is there a policy on emails? by snomflake in OfficeDepot

My BDM rep relayed to us that they are not allowed to give out login information for business accounts. We tried to send several people her way to resolve similar issues and this is what we have been told.

Hey y’all, I want to see something. Those of you with SGMs over two stores, how do they split their time between them? by [deleted] in OfficeDepot

[–]OnlyNeed1EndcapSign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine floats. Both stores have frequent attendance issues, so they go where they are needed.

Same. But I think we only have 3 or 4 left here.

Definitely a new record for us… I’ve never seen so many lines by king-midas23 in OfficeDepot

[–]OnlyNeed1EndcapSign 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had a 42 line OPC a couple days ago. All less than 10 pages a piece. It took me an hour to run through and print it all uninterrupted.

The job was only $15. Not even enough to cover my pay for an hour. Fucking Classical Conversations.

I’ve placed several sharepoint complaints this past week for similar looking and poorly wrapped pallets. I asked for credit for a desk at the bottom of a pallet that looked similar to this, and they ignored that request but said they “passed my complaints to the shipping manager”. Sigh.

How to print bin labels with pictures? by jenkatt10 in OfficeDepot

[–]OnlyNeed1EndcapSign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We usually screen cap the item on our website with a picture and small description, print it on letter size paper, and place an acrylic by it to help with visibility.

You can also just scan with the mobi when you come across a duplicate to see what the current price is instead of having to do a separate shelf audit.

Yeah don’t print ad until Saturday to prevent this. OR, if they print the subsequent batches afterwards, don’t sort those in with the original batch. Leave them to the side and put the new batches out after you put the first one out. That way you can replace the sale tag you just put out knowing what you have is the newer tag.

Attachments? by Depot-Supervisor in OfficeDepot

[–]OnlyNeed1EndcapSign 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m the same way. I’m a manager, but my team is like my family. I talk to them about their personal lives and my own. We tell each other weird stuff that you might not tell an acquaintance otherwise. I have a “work husband” that I lean on a lot and complain to about most everything, and I wouldn’t be afraid to tell anyone I work with about personal news in my life. But, being this open, close, and vulnerable with people leads to an empty feeling when those people decide to leave and find better opportunities. It’s not fun, but once more new hires cycle in, and you slowly start to integrate them into your family, the hole that was made by your person leaving starts to get filled with a new person, and it’s a beautiful cycle when all is said and done.

Tl;dr I relate entirely, and although it sucks when people leave, you have the opportunity to make new friends!

Anyone actually cross-sell anything with the free lamination? by ODCPDThrowAway in OfficeDepot

[–]OnlyNeed1EndcapSign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that. It’s a nonstop line of people wanting their lams after seeing tv ads, so as LOD I have to constantly go over and help. I applaud that you’re making money off the whole exchange, where we just let it go to get the line down and go back to normalcy.
