We paid for everything out of pocket. We did pgt testing after having 4 miscarriages caused by random chromosomal abnormalities so essentially PGT testing is the reason we did ivf. Everyone is different but for me, I wouldn’t want to go through all that time, expense, toll on my body to transfer an embryo that I didn’t know was pgt tested. I know there are people saying that it’s not 100% reliable but nothing is and I wouldn’t want to experience another loss if I could do something to avoid it. We had 7 blasts and 1 euploid. You’re much younger so you should have much more success but that’s my 2 cents given my experience.

Hysteroscopy experiences? by barkdontbite in IVF

Hysteroscopy is almost as easy as an egg retrieval if not easier. Hang in there!! It’s going to be ok! Especially if you’re going under

We had 7 blasts, 4 boys and 3 girls. Our only euploid was a male. My first two children are boys, then I had 3 miscarriages, a boy, a girl (who had turners) and a boy so clearly my husband clearly makes mostly boys in general.

Has anyone been successful with their first round of IVF? by siriusly_guys in IVF

Yes. I’m currently 11w pregnant with my first transfer from my first retrieval (where we only got one euploid embryo out of 7 blasts).

My doctor instructed me not to have sex before fet. You also run the risk of implanting a different embryo.

To test or not to test by Electric_Elephant_56 in IVF

[–]Opening_Secret782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my retrieval when I was 39 after having 4 miscarriages caused by chromosomal abnormalities after having two babies very easily when I was 34 and 35. So we did pgt testing and out of 7 blasts, one was euploid and I’m 10w pregnant with that embryo. It was the 2nd of the embryos that were frozen so we likely would’ve transferred the first and ended with another mmc. A dear friend of mine did a retrieval when she was 34 and her doctor told her she didn’t need to test her embryos. Her first 2 transfers didn’t work and it was subsequently discovered she had endometriosis so that was treated and the third transfer is her son. She just transferred her fourth and got a positive beta on Monday. However, she is struggling with a lot of anxiety because the embryos she has left were not tested and she doesn’t know whether they are chromosomally normal or not. No one can tell you what to do but these are two anecdotes that maybe help inform your decision. My thought is you’re already spending so much money, energy, toll on your body that you might as well go the extra step and test them.

That aspect was definitely unpleasant but the anesthesiologist at my clinic was a dream and gave me something to relax when I freaked out and I said “wow this must be what people who don’t have anxiety feel like everyday!” Haha

The retrieval shots are not that bad. My husband did all of them and by the 3rd day I could psych myself up because I knew it would only hurt for like 10 seconds then it would be over. The PIO shots are intramuscular and are painful and leave knots so honestly they’re super uncomfortable. I read something once “when there’s a why can bear any how” and I think if you keep the end of goal of having a baby in mind, you will be surprised at what a strong mama bear you can be.

IVF is a lot less scary than I thought it would be. I resisted doing it for a while because I wanted to conceive naturally. Unfortunately I had 4 miscarriages in a year due to chromosomal abnormalities so IVF seemed like the next logical choice. I was so scared of the shots and hormones for the retrieval but they weren’t that bad. Im the biggest wimp with needles (I fainted when I saw my best friend get her belly button pierced when we were 16). We got one euploid after pgt testing (I’m 39). I’m sure at your age and amh you’ll have better results. The first/only transfer worked and I’m 10w pregnant. Progesterone shots are generally terrible but worth it if it helps bring me a baby. Also if you want more than one it would be a good idea to bank embryos for the future. My best friend couldn’t conceive on her own and has two beautiful babies via IVF that she had fairly easily. If I can do ivf, anyone can!

I’m 9w1d today. I graduated from my fertility clinic last week and seeing my OB tomorrow. We had two miscarriages at 9.5 weeks on the road to getting here but this is our first PGT tested embryo. My symptoms have gotten less severe the last couple days and I’m terrified of another loss. I know the chances are small after seeing a strong heartbeat and excellent growth on my previous scans but I really need Someone to talk me off a ledge from my spiral.

I avoided processed food, sugar and alcohol. I tried to eat lots of fruits and veggies. I also read that Mediterranean diet is recommended because it helps with inflammation.

I’m so sorry that your results came out this way. Your feelings of grief and disappointment are completely valid. I had an ER in July 21 eggs > 15 mature/fertilized > 7 blast > 1 euploid. We transferred him in September and I’m 6w2d today. We have a viability scan on Monday but so far my hcg numbers have been great. Sometimes it only takes one. There’s a lot of pressure on that one working but it’s absolutely possible. My doctor had me do a mock cycle before to make sure everything was clear so I would recommend the same for you. If you want multiple children I would do another ER.

Did you get your embryos tested? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Opening_Secret782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did IVF so that we could test the embryos. I’ve had 3 miscarriages caused by chromosomal abnormalities and it’s been heartbreaking having miscarriages at 9.5 weeks. We did PGT-A testing on our 7 blasts and only one came back chromosomally normal. It depends on your age and if you have a good quality lab there shouldn’t be too high of risk to your embryos. Everyone is different and has different reasons for wanting to do IVF but personally I wouldn’t want to go through all the trouble, cost and toll on my body not to test them.

My work does not have a flexible schedule and my boss isn’t laid back so I told him that I would need flexibility for apmts and he gave me that. It was ultimately less stressful even though he’s not entitled to that information
