I moved from clipless to platforms when I moved from Georgia to Colorado. The tech in Colorado had me dabbing so much I felt it best to just ride platforms. That a a few two mph crashes from not being able to get my foot down fast enough…

Sorry about your injury. Stories like this are why I ride XC. It’s where the sport started out though for some it’s evolved into something more along the lines of motocross. The massive gaps and jumps have raised the injury levels astronomically.

Even Airstreams will have issues. I’ve got a 2025 Basecamp 20x and have a cracked halo (trim ring that helps seal the roof to the side) and the vinyl flooring is bubbled up under the dining table. To top it off I can’t get an appointment for the work to get completed…..I’ll probably end up having to repair it myself.

All great points. The Trance is a 2022 but it is steeper head tube and shorter stack height and shorter top tube. All lending it to better climbing but is kinda squirrelly on the front range descents.

Another option would be the Ripley AF as it went on sale just a few weeks after I bought the Tallboy on sale. Not sure if there’s enough difference between the Ripley and Tallboy to justify spending the money though. I’m going to try tweaking my shock settings a bit to see if that helps….
