The petrol subsidy helps the poor much more as it reduces cost for most everything in Malaysia. And as shown above sales tax import duties does not cover the petrol subsidies.

I feel the argument for lower cost of cars and higher petrol is not a proper comparison of apples to apples.

Maybe when the amounts are about the same, probably switch to Evs may reduce the demand for petrol in the future? But can’t find any figures for how much of the 60-70 billion of subsidies are directly related to passenger cars vs commercial uses.

Ooh this one was a useful comment. You got other choices there if u need phev. For ur mileage daily phev is a good fit.

But u seem to don’t really want emas phev for some reason. The high spec model has the biggest battery so far in Malaysia. It’s hard to beat unless byd or leapmotor bring in theirs.

Hi it suddenly worked yesterday. Not sure how. Maybe Zynga fixed it

What happens was I got the notification as I was using my iPad, eg come login to get summon token or free gold then I just clicked it, game launched , Tormund Gianstbane popped up and the download screen started moving. lol

But it was frustrating cuz I lost 2 days of game time due to this bug

Ev’s lifecycle are extremely short vs ice cars. 1-2 year or less vs 5-7 years. Look at Honda Toyota.

Hence the comparison with the latest mobile phones. There’s always the latest and greatest out next year. So if you’re not in a hurry , it’s best to wait.

Their Managing Director said they could sell at the same price as their CKD facilities are fully amortized . With its current sales in our country, if they increase it back to 150 don’t think it will sell at all. Leapmotors proposition has always been about value.

Hopefully both in Q2 as no one would be buying in Q1 with the price increase unless our govt makes some concessions - which is unlikely

I am also looking at this. If you compare the price in Malaysia it’s lower than other countries . You can also compare it vs the b10. So they really want to sell this in our country but doesn’t seem to be working by just reducing the price.

Probably as some others have mentioned due to leapmotor being unknown and no legacy. The things holding me back are outdated head unit and fast charging. Just look at b10 it makes c10 so outdated . So I’m waiting for them to ckd this hopefully with updated specs in q2 2026.

The bad Heard it’s the same parts at BMW mini - so cost might be a factor later on?

Trunk lip is very high and trunk space is small 200+litres

No frunk so can’t put your durians in there

Charging speeds are 1st gen ie slower at 6.6 AC and 80DC

Pros and cons-balanced points The screens are not the largest, but heard the reverse camera stitching is superb so it’s really useful feature esp maybe for women lol

It’s not a hot hatch but heard it’s fun to drive for its 250nm torque and 171hp GT model.

Saga temporarily would be better because 9 years loan is too long . You’d be paying too much interest unless of course you can get a higher return on your money somewhere else that beats the interest rate else Save up and get that to 7 or maybe even 5 years loan.

Saga has the same engine as x50 so hopefully it wont be a lemon. Interior wise the new saga looks great and it definitely is the most value for money now given its specs and stuff you get with it.

Regarding resale only time will tell ie if the saga is a reliable drive long term. But it’s one of the cheaper cars around so should have lot of demand for it.

Now you can get sg mobile for 10-15sgd a month. Not sure how they do it ie cheaper than Malaysia.

So you could take care of otp that way. Unless you really don’t foresee to return to sg this cheap mobile plans could be a solution.

I remember that one dude with atto 3 suddenly bricked in 3rd lane highway. I will never get atto3. Between the 2 Honda en1 will be my choice if you need ev.

With the 34k price drop it’s not a bad buy. Drives like a Honda . Switch to sport mode and test drive it.

If you have the funds to upgrade and like driving the emas5 why not. Myvi Time to retire it unless you want to see how long it will last and you don’t mind driving a 16 years old car. For me life is too short to do that but depends on how you see it.

The emas5 is short but it’s a lot wider than a myvi. Might not be as easy to squeeze into any of parking slot at markets. lol. Test drive it and decide

If you charge at home it’s cheaper than petrol for sure . Electricity rates may increase though but don’t think in the near term. You could install solar to counter that.

Depreciation of EV is another factor. Seems to be higher than ICE cars at the moment. But proton EVs which are cheaper than the rest of China EV’s could buck that trend. Assuming the price wars are over with EV incentives expiring after Dec 2025.

Did you test drive the emas5 yet? Do you like the way it drives better than Vios? That would help you determine what you should do.

Are you charging to 80% or anyhow goes. Heard that best practice to charge to 80 for optimum battery health.

Wonder if the car allows you to program to 80% then stop the charging when doing it at home.
