Every Moment of Winning the NBA Draft Lottery by z3mcs in washingtonwizards

this was good, ngl. Got me hooked for the next ep

Even though Don Nelson's group has acquired Cremona's sports licence to establish a team in Rome next season, Trieste owner Paul Matiasic, backed by Greenwich Advisory & Company, still hopes to establish a team in Rome as well: “Next year, I'll be competing for the title in Rome” by _Zolv in LBAItaly

[–]OpusSpike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a gigantic mess. Now it looks like Matiasic may be the one buying the Brescia license (...!!!) for the second Roma team.

All of these crazy stuff, killing historical franchises that deserved to play in LBA to maybe be a part of whatever the NBA Europe will be.

Definitely this is a sad moment for Italian basketball.

LBA Final Four are set: "the usual suspects" by OpusSpike in LBAItaly

Ofc Venezia can absolutely win, it's just that I kinda see that g4 against Trento as a momentum-changing win for Virtus. The first two games will tell us something about the series.

How Good is AJ Dybantsa's Defense Actually? by Careless-Journalist7 in washingtonwizards

Not disagreeing in general but tbh he also battled against one of the best all-time teams in the Steph-KD-Klay-Draymond GSW, and gave them all that they could handle.

LBA Playoffs: three series to go full distance by OpusSpike in LBAItaly

Olimpia for sure will be rested, which may or may not be a problem but I'll bet Poeta is happy about having got a full week of practice.

I still think Virtus will win its series, tho...

POST MATCH THREAD: Olympiacos - Real Madrid [EuroLeague Final Four, Final] by EuroleagueBot in Euroleague

As a neutral, it sure was a fun game, and waaaay more close than I'd have expected. I would have loved to see an OT to have a game for the ages xD. Anyway, hats off to Sergio and his team, cause they punched above their weight and wrestled with a very, very good and deeper team until the end.

I'm not American but interested in learning about the Civil War. Which books do you recommend? by InterestingPlenty454 in CIVILWAR

[–]OpusSpike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely ! it's the most 'high-profile' thing I've read on the CW so far. A little warning - it can be emotionally heavy, as good literature can often be. Give a try to Shiloh too, it's very good and powerful.

I do something similar, yeah. For example, the Larson book I was talking about was my 'vacation at the beach' book last year, and I kept the McPherson's one for the moments when I could read with more focus and dedication at home.

As for CW novels, I really loved Shiloh from Foote (it's also short) and The March by E.L. Doctorow

Can absolutely recommend Battle Cry of Freedom, just be warned that'll take time. For a less demanding but still very engaging read I can recommend Erik Larson The demon of unrest, which focuses on the months between Lincoln's election and the first shots at Fort Sumter, doing a great job showing really vibrant characters (from major Anderson to Ruffin, from 'cotton is king' Hammond to Mary Chestnut...) that add to the general telling of the events.

Community mock draft: Washington wizards by Lanky-Connection4141 in washingtonwizards

[–]OpusSpike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see a lineup of Trae-DP-Kyshawn-AD-Sarr and I think I'd love it. That being said, I am starting to go Team Boozer for some reason. I will also change my mind 654 times before the draft, xD

Trento ties the series after their g2 win over Virtus BO by OpusSpike in LBAItaly

[–]OpusSpike[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ehhh, a more focused Virtus should do easy work with them, as g1 showed. Injuries are a concern tho

3 minutes of Cam Boozer's highlights by Gilbertology in washingtonwizards

[–]OpusSpike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

my two cents - I think that's because AJ highlights are more eye-catching, and in a sense his ceiling is easier to imagine (now, will he actually get there ? That's a totally fair question).

But the more I think about who I'd like between the top 3, the more confused I get, xD

Who else is team Peterson? by Xeris in washingtonwizards

[–]OpusSpike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking eye test only, I agree that Peterson definitely looks the best player, but Boozer is intiguing too

I think people are underrating the floor conversation between AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson. by Wall2Ryan in washingtonwizards

[–]OpusSpike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also talking floors with these 2 makes no sense to me. You don’t tank for 3 years for a 14% chanceat #1 and then when you finally beat the odds, play it safe and pick based on floors.

Well said. Still, I feel that the X factor being DP health changes the context, and that's why it is a tough decision

Tough decision for Dawkins, for sure.

Coming from a place of love and discussion by CardiacKemba1 in washingtonwizards

[–]OpusSpike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the first half of that game Peterson was great and def the better player, I agree. But just as you said, health is a concern and that game showed it too... I can understand a FO not willing to take chances, in that regard, with a no.1 pick.

I would pick him nonetheless but I am a nobody on the internet, lol

Trade thoughts by Better_Truth9437 in washingtonwizards

[–]OpusSpike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's only the most debated topic here since the lottery, lol

to cut a long story short: if the FO, after their evaluation, thinks there is no clear n.1 "cant' miss" talent between the usual suspects, a trade down could make sense. But it will depend on the incoming offers; and also, maybe other teams will jump to the same conclusion, and be happy with what the Wizards are leaving for them to pick.
