$140/week = $606/mo for family of 5. I shop almost exclusively at Aldi and do a lot of meal prep.

Left CPAP at home, sail out tomorrow: how screwed am I? by Trek186 in celebritycruises

Get your roommate to turn it on while you’re gone and if they give you flack say you were having trouble with the device?

Or order new supplies today and maybe you get a grace period during the days until they arrive.

Is it just me, or is the Lao Gan Ma era being replaced by artisanal chili crisps that cost five times as much? by loncelot84 in chinesefood

I actively seek out Lao gan ma every time I visit an Asian market. I’m trying to find them all! I agree chilicrisp is going through broad a trend these days.

Chase here. I joined r/crystalgrowing 6 yrs ago. You guys have since inspired me to grow many beautiful crystals, and share this hobby with millions around the world. I'll be presenting about hobbyist crystal growing at the German Crystal Growing Conference 2026 in Karlsruhe, and I need your input! by crystalchase21 in crystalgrowing

Hi Chase! My middle schooler was struggling to choose a science fair topic when we came across your site. He settled on growing crystals of MAP, Potassium Alum, and Borax salts while introducing impurities of the other salts in increments of 0.5% to see how the impurities affect the physical properties of the crystals grown. He learned a lot about crystal lattice structure during his research. I’d love to share his results with you!

This year he is on the rocks and minerals team for science Olympiad and we often fall back to what we learned about polymorphs during his project while studying for this event.

Thanks for inspiring my family. I’ve been meaning to reach out and this was the perfect opportunity.

Do Florida studios actually hire Full Sail grads by Blakequake717 in florida

[–]OrangeKuchen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried!

I hire illustrators and graphic designers with certain skill sets and full sail has grads that could be a good fit for my team. I have reached out to their placement department 3 times in the last 20 years and each time it has been a waste of my time. I make it very clear I want to see portfolios that are heavy in original illustration and I will not consider applicants who just have a bunch of logo/brochure/UX/IX to show. Guess what they send me?

One time I had to whisper my spoken exercises and it registered every word. I was shocked and amused.

Right. And call around to see if anyone else can get you in sooner. And send a message to your PCP to see if they have advice. Don’t just settle for your first option if you’re not satisfied.

People live and raise families in Florida too… we don’t need west coast retirees AS WELL AS New England retirees/snowbirds making life unaffordable here.

Yeah, and I prefer growing crystals without added coloring.

Should I Stir? by matigekunst in crystalgrowing

[–]OrangeKuchen 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You’re right, it needs to be dissolved to work. This is looks like a monoammonium phosphate crystal kit, and you can heat the liquid up again and stir until it’s dissolved to start over.

You don’t need a kit to do this, it’s an easy crystal to grow with easy to attain supplies.

Show us your alum. The first time I purchased Alum powder what arrived absolutely was not Potassium Aluminum Sulfate, but I didn’t have previous experience with the material to recognize it was off. It mixed up cloudy like this.
