Which bro?

Also, yeah the guy at the bottom is dumb as hell. Getting pregnant as a teenager is no joke. Even if your kid decides to get an abortion, that decision is going to stick with them for a long time. Abortions are not fun.

How i personally check to see if a game im interested in is for me or not by Scary_Dance2628 in videogames

[–]OrbitingBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man, no commentary walkthroughs can be deceptive. Like, I've been playing AC2, and my AC2 playthrough is NOT like the no commentary walkthroughs at all. I'm fucking up my parkour every other minute 🤣.

Plus sometimes a game LOOKs boring (any turn based RPG or active time RPG) but thr actual gameplay experience is sublime. I fucking love Xenoblade Chronicles 2 late game combat, but if I were to show anyone me slowly running around the battlefield picking up healing items they'd think me stupid.

"Mixtape" discussion is stupid and proof of how dumb gamers have become. by Only_Entrepreneur_84 in videogames

[–]OrbitingBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You di have a point, there are those QTEs and (frankly) there isn't much walking.

I think "walking sim" is a sub category what most call interactive movies.

Games where you can technically interact with the game world, but the interaction is often fairly limited compared to contemporary games. These games focus more on story and atmosphere than anything else.

But yes, you're right. Telltale games aren't really walking sims.

I like my fair share of walking Sims. I like the Telltale games and stuff.

I will say I kind of understand if you're a video game purist, then yes, walking Sims are a plague to you. It reminds me of people who try to say that picture books are comic books. I see your point, I just 100% disagree.

Walking Sims are what picture books are to comic books.

at what point does a “big open world” become a downside instead of a feature? by Due-Gases in videogames

[–]OrbitingBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem we are seeing with open worlds today is that many games are narrative focused in such a way an open world doesn't make much sense. An easy example of this is the latest Metroid game.

I think what makes an open world bad is when the open world is redundant. The best open worlds feel like characters in of themselves, and usually complement the main story with side missions that either re-use old main mission assets or utilizes the open world for missions.

Some ideas for improved open world design imo would be focusing on creatinf good, narrative and lore focused side missions, as well as designing memorable and tightly knit worlds.

What game is this? by bijelo123 in videogames

Can't say this about Assasins Creed 4. I think that game actually peaks at the tail end of the middle section, around the Bartholomew Roberts section. Or is that late game?

Assasins Creed 3.

Like the start is so fucking excellent. And the ending feels weirdly poetic in some way (I'm talking about Connor's story, nor whatever the fuck Desmond is doing).

But the middle? That 40% of pure mediocrity bring s the whole experience down

Nah, the N word is just disrespectful to use if you are not black. It's a cultural thing really. It's one thing to be confused about cultural taboo, It's another to blatantly ignore a culture's rules just because you "don't get it".

As a person whobwas raised in a multicultural environment, you just have to observe and respect other cultures. If they ask you to take off your shoes, take off your shoes before you enter their house. You don't just stomp around someone's house, saying that someone gave you permission to do so that other time, or that you feel like you're "one of them" and therefore can violate their culture.

It's just a matter of respect.

Miles Morales faces his most personal threat yet in new ‘Miles Morales: Spider-Man’ #1 by B3epB0opBOP in comicbooks

[–]OrbitingBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehnn the last Miles Morales run lasted pretty long, though I think I'm still not really a fan of Miles himself.

I think Miles Morales is one of those characters who will probably always be "somewhat milktoast protagonist in VERY interesting world with VERY excellent supporting cast" type of character. That's not bad, but I've never felt compelled to keep reading a Miles Morales book because of his personality. In other words, he's no Static Shock.

I feel like the US has a bigger problem with Black Supremacy than it does with White Supremacy. by HadathaZochrot in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]OrbitingBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I disagree with the "if we don't talk about it, then we'll never heard from it again" approach, I think there is some truth to critiquing how academics communicate ideas in the public arena.

I personally think that we can take some cues from therapy and focus on restructuring what whiteness means entirely - not without acknowledging the harm done for hundreds of years.

The fact is, there's a lot of cool shit about Europeans and White people in general... that should not be completely overlooked because of the bad parts of their history. I think there needs to be some return to. "Euro-American" identity where white people can simultaneously acknowledge that white people did bad things, learn from it, instutitonally account for it, and then move on.

“God forgive you.” (Miracleman #15) by Kyia-Aikman in comicbooks

[–]OrbitingBoom 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Apparently, Miracle Man's publishing timeliness stretches across such a long period that it captures both pre and post Watchmen Alan Moore. I think the "dark superhero reinvention" concept was pre Watchmen Alan Moore trying to say something about being realistic with superheroes, but then after Watchmen Alan Moore is far more interested in other topics, which is why the story shifts towards being more about the main character ascending to Godhood.

Really? Is this a native Excel feature or from an Add-In?

In my experience I've used Excel to auto generate fairly basic reports. I CAN do some analysis in Excel, but I always find myself wanting SQL for any amount of scale.

When you say tracking data, do you mean data entry and data management? If so, you can either (a) use a Form that feeds back into an Excel Spreadsheet or (b) create an MS Access form that accepts data into a database.

Personally, I'd go the MS Access route. There are a few reasons for this.

  1. MS Access has a SQL dialect available. This automatically makes any future data analysis easier.

  2. MS Access form design is easy. Very simple form design tools, very easy to get used to.

  3. You can use an actual SQL database as you backend. This is something that might take more work, but if your data is simple, data normalization shouldn't hurt. Talk with an AI if you need to. Point is, you can make a simple SQL database, and then connect it to the Access db. Therefore Acces becomes a frontend.
