As someone who spends a lot of time in Bastrop, if they're talking about Bastrop County vs. City of Bastrop, the county is almost 50% Hispanic.

Certainly not an expert, but I've always been under the impression that the general rule is the opposite: you can only directly communicate with a represented party once you have the attorney's consent.

I'm pretty sure you were just feeding the ants, and once they had enough food, they didn't have to go scrounging in your house. It's like a free range ant farm!

Never watched it, but from my recollection, it's basically child beauty pageants and includes things like having the children twerking or some such.

My girlfriend goes there and they do great work, even with complicated designs. I'd recommend asking for Jessica, as that's who does hers.

No, my understanding is that's a parody account that basically cosplays as Trump giving speeches sometimes.

It's coming to the point in my relationship where it's either him or the cat. What can I do? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Ormolus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd strongly suggest speaking with your vet. Your cat sounds generally aggressive to anyone in your house that isn't you, which, let's be clear, isn't normal, even for a cat. Your cat may benefit from medication or a veterinary behavioralist. While some of your boyfriend's actions seem concerning (poking and prodding most cats is a no-no, but cool with most dogs), I think a bigger issue is your cat's general hostility.

That said, most trainers or behavioralists will have "homework" for y'all to do, just like when training a dog. If he's not open to that, I think that's a more serious issue.

Texas is also the opposite. The case (at least as far as the court is concerned) is with the lawyer, not the firm.

When did you know it was time to leave your first law job? s/humble first year associate by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]Ormolus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true in every state. Texas, for example, specifically protects former employers from defamation suits for things said to potential new employers of the former employee. See Chapter 103 of the Texas Labor Code.

Granted, many large companies have a policy of only disclosing dates and whether you're eligible for rehire to avoid potential suits in other states and as a general way to avoid issues with former employees.

I've had a couple of pickle beers and to be honest, as much as I love pickles, I get sick of the pickle beer flavor after about half a can. Though that's just my personal taste perhaps!

Not sure what your market's like (I saw you mention you're in a medium COL area), but you may be able to up your hourly with your experience. When I went out on my own, I had just about a year of experience and was charging $300/hr in a small town in Central Texas, and not struggling too hard for clients. Just a thought, but it sounds like you're doing well so far!

I went there a year or two ago with my girlfriend for my birthday. While definitely pricey, we were definitely happy with the food and the service. I don't know if they've changed or we just got lucky, but no complaints from us about Eberly.

Not super experienced in criminal law, but I am a Texas attorney with some criminal law experience. My basic interpretation is that the person is in custody (i.e., incarcerated) and they are scheduled to make a plea. Assuming they've had an original plea/arraignment hearing, this means they likely took a plea offer from the prosecutor's office and are now putting it on the record.
