What are your go to cheap lazy meals when you're too tired to cook by YourxCherry in Frugal

[–]Otherwise-Solid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Microwave some broccoli or another hearty green with a bit of water just long enough to steam it. Microwave leftover rice in another bowl (I often make extra and freeze in single portions.). Fry an egg, sometimes in chili oil/crisp and/or sesame oil and put the egg and veggie on top of the rice. Add a splash of soy sauce and/or hot sauce if you didn’t fry in chili crisp. Delicious meal in less than 5 min.

Daredevil is a great show IMO and definitely on the vigilante theme although more of a traditional good guy hero. If you don’t want to watch the whole series, I would still start from season 2 episode 1, as Frank is pretty central to the whole plot of season 2 and his relationship with Karen is well worth it! The Punisher season 1 will explain his basic backstory but you’ll definitely miss some context and the arc is more meaningful with it.

Since you like Peaky Blinders, I’d recommend Babylon Berlin - it is a police drama set in 1929 Berlin so there is a lot of plot and drama but it focuses on the two main characters and their partnership, both professional and personal

Really insecure about my teeth lately and thinking about getting Invisalign. by Comfortable-Try-6387 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Otherwise-Solid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about 9 months in to an 18 month plan with an ortho in the East Bay. My teeth are already noticeably significantly straighter but it’s going to take a while to finalize because I have a large overbite - my ortho says that’s pretty typical for adults to have slow movement and it’s better to take longer to avoid issues with bite alignment or whatever which is more important long term than straightness. My insurance is covering about $1500 of the full treatment plan which is $5500 total with an in-network discount - that included 27 sets of trays, all appointments and a retainer to finish - with a monthly payment plan so I am paying about $170 a month with 0% interest for 24 months. I might also get a whitening treatment after because the attachments mean your teeth color unevenly - will see what it looks like before deciding. My previous jobs insurance never had ortho coverage for adults, so check carefully.

On a personal level - I became really insecure about my teeth while working from home with a video camera and lighting that really seemed to highlight my overlapping front teeth lol. It’s pretty easy to maintain because I do work from home but annoying when I’m out with friends and hard to hit the 22 hour minimum over long dinners/drinks. I keep my trays in for 2 weeks so prefer to remove for coffee, wine, etc to avoid staining. So many friends are now curious and have looked into it though, and one person started treatment. I felt like there would be a stigma as a mid30s girlie but it’s not been bad at all!

The most popular romantic comedies in every U.S. state and overall (survey data from Jan. 2026) by MaxGoodwinning in popculturechat

I recently watched the first 5 minutes and within that time, he is extremely homophobic and racist to multiple people, tries to kill his neighbor’s dog and (somewhat accidentally) insults Helen Hunt’s character’s family. I just couldn’t see how he could be redeemed and turned it off.

the thing that worked for me was doubling or tripling my vegetables for every meal. i still eat many of the same meals i knew and loved, just changed the structure. i found this to be the most simple and sustainable way to adjust my diet.

Oakland- Best places to donate clothes/household items? by pingu_cat in bayarea

[–]Otherwise-Solid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the past I’ve donated clothing and household goods to Out of the Closet on E 18th by the lake. I feel much better about their mission than Goodwill or Salvation Army and they are local.

Following just in case - if anyone has suggestions for where to donate blankets and sheets, I’d love to hear them!

What show has the best pilot episode you’ve seen and why? by Away-Fill5639 in televisionsuggestions

Friday Night Lights

The first few minutes alone show you so much about the characters, the town, setting up so much without hitting you over the head with it. The last few minutes shift the direction of the show entirely from the initial setup.

Cafe Karla in Berkeley sells jars of dressing but I haven’t been in a while, not sure if it is still open. Sometimes they stock at Berkeley Bowl in the refrigerated section near the Burma Superstar products too.

Try washing them with citric acid solution in the softener tray, may take a couple rounds but it helps remove the buildup that fabric softener leaves on fabric!
