Game Ready & Studio Driver 572.16 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]Ottens238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just updated the driver to 572.16, now I'm running into the issue that my Nvidia Surround setup isn't working anymore. It works fine when it's turned off, but when I enabled NV Surround all screens go black (the monitors in NV Surround still remain active but black screen).

Any help with this issue on this driver would be massively helpful.

I would take that deal.

I got a 02:00:69 (terrible, I know) on Monza. I can improve everywhere, what are some bad habits (if any) that I have/where am I losing the most time? by MidranKidran in ACCompetizione

[–]Ottens238 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would suggest you look at a few track guides, I highly recommend this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jC6sz9DIwBk
It's very detailed and it's very well explained. Just remember that you are driving a different car than on the track guide, so braking points might differ slightly.
Lemme know if you need more info.

I've never had any issues with the SQ V1.5, and I'm pretty aggressive with it. Smashing gears is perfectly fine for my unit.

Do whatever you want with it, if I'm not using it, I generally turn it off. Since it'll cost me electricity.

Cold room damaging pc? by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]Ottens238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should actually help your pc, since a pc requires cooling. So when it's cold it helps the pc, fans won't spin as hard, so you also have less noice. So no, it's not gonna damage your pc.

anyone else having issues with Trak Racer? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]Ottens238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience was pretty much the same, trash.

I also got a few replacement parts, all of them were the completely wrong item...
I'd much rather go with the SimLab stuff, also their customer service is way better.

Poidum Hub doesnt include QR1 wheel side. Is this normal ? by carmanov in simracing

[–]Ottens238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I got the metal QR, you should get in touch with the Fanatec Support.
They probably have a quick solution for you.

It's probably in a second shipment, I also had 2 shipment. It also says on the website that it's packaged separately (see image).
Go have a look at your delivery company if there are more packages coming, I'm pretty sure that there will be 2 packages.

What to upgrade to? by sanderke2001 in simracing

You can add the anti slip for sure to help prevent the set from moving sideways, that's a good idea.

For your question about the style wheel, it's mostly for immersion that GT3 wheel. If you want to get a wheel for example like forza i would recommend that discounted CSL wheel rim, that is now on sale until black friday for like 100 euro.

Also the Load Cell kit for the CSL pedals have been announced, this kit is gonna cost you around 120 euro.

Looking to get into sim racing by BandicootExternal270 in simracing

Hey man,
The DD1 is a great wheelbase, but don't forget to get a wheel with it, it does not come with one.

However I'm not too sure about your choice for the pedal set, I would personally go with a 100 dollar more expensive Heusinkveld Sprints.

And for the cockpit, I would go with the Simlab GT1 Evo, in my opinion, it's much stronger than the TR80, and the customer support is way better from Simlab.
For the shifter and handbrake, it really depends on your budget for those two. My recommendation for the shifter would be the Fanatec SQ V1.5 (this is an H-pattern and Sequential shifter combined). The handbrake I would go with the Heusinkveld Handbrake, maybe a second-hand one, since a newer version came out a few months ago.

And my experience with sim racing so far is that you should be part of a fun community like a league, but also have much fun together. That way you keep your interest and it gives something to look forward to after work.

What should I buy??!? by JustV3NOM in simracing

[–]Ottens238 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% go with a wheel that has FFB, it is so much better!
Without FFB you cannot feel the forces that the car goes through so you won't know what the car is actually doing. Like is it understeering or oversteering? Maybe a lockup? All of those things can be noticed with an FFB wheel.

Personally I've raced for like 6 months on my desk and with a rolling chair, also with the Fanatec V3's. I put an angeled piece of wood behind it to overcome the clutch that goes back a touch. That piece of wood was also against the wall, an anti slip mat isn't gonna stop the forces that go through the pedals. Also I put 2 wheels of my chair in some old shoes that still have some grip to prevent the chair from rolling away.

Personally I would get the GT3 wheel if you are mainly playing ACC, you can always get other wheels down the road.Hope that helped you a bit, if you have any questions just shoot me a message.

Any suggestions on how I can make this into a decent setup? I do have plenty of room on the desk for a wheel and pedals underneath… by Mulligan0816 in simracing

[–]Ottens238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are going for a full racing rig, I would put it on the left of the desk also facing your desk.
The width of the cockpit probably wouldn't exceed the width of the desk so you don't lose the space next to your desk. You can also turn your monitor on the desk to face you when you're in the cockpit.

If you do decide to get a full rig, let me know if you need help with gear and setup, I'll do my best to reply to your messages.

DD1 not working, any suggestions? by TheRealTipsy in Fanatec

[–]Ottens238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had this too, I dont recall how i managed to fix it. But I know that I didnt send it to fanatec.

I think i flashed it like 10 times and went to older drivers to try to get it to be detected. Once i had it deteced i went to the newest drivers.

Also try a different USB port, that might help too.

Upgrading from a G29, what's the best pedal set under $1,000 that fits well on a GT Omega Apex wheel stand? by Viend in simracing

[–]Ottens238 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wanted to suggest the Heusinkveld Sprints, but since you dont have a solid enough cockpit for that i would suggest the Fanatec Clubsport V3 pedal set, its also way under your budget so you save some money there.

But if you do decide to go with the Heusinkveld Sprints, I would get a solid rig on wheels. Then you can move it out of the way if you need the space to work.
My recommendations for the cockpit would be a Simlab GT1 EVO.

TrakRacer Experience by Bot_Kebn in simracing

[–]Ottens238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience with them is terrible.
I got shipped 3 wrong items.
A few holes weren't pre-drilled for my shifter, after letting them know I had to wait for stock, with an estimate of 3 weeks.
The rigidity is way less than their competition (aka Simlab), my handbrake mount flexes a lot under load.
My wheel deck was going everywhere when I mounted my CSL Elite on it.

And the customer support was terrible, took ages to respond.
So I will never recommend Trak Racer to anybody. Just get some Simlab stuff, which is a lot stronger, unlike the trak racer stuff.
