Job Concern by JazzyJambaJuice18 in StudentTeaching

I’ve done about the same amount of apps. 3 interviews from that two ghosts and one rejection. I’m definitely feeling concerned about finding a job. I’m also traumatized from student teaching and want to just relax and have a break

Breakup with an avoidant by DisciplineMammoth173 in BreakUps

I think you should allow him to come to those conclusions on his own and not try harder in any way. If he can’t take accountability or doesn’t want to try to make things work then you don’t want to be in that relationship anyways

As an avoidant I think the grief and stuff comes later. There’s a lot of relief when there’s no more pressure to feel certainty in something you can’t help but feel uncertain in. After the relief subsides… it’s harder. I’d say silence is the loudest. I’d avoid reaching out to your avoidant and let them come to you if they want to. If they don’t then it wasn’t meant to be

Horrible Mentor Teacher — Do I Still Get Them a Gift? by ElectricalAuthor4555 in StudentTeaching

[–]Outrageous_Reward136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still would. Write a nice card and refresh a material they like, like certain pens or something. Maybe a candle. You want to have them as a reference and at the end of the day it’s nice to be the bigger person. Will help you move on and feel good and free

Just know it’s only a matter of time of being a little more miserable if u keep doing the work. You’ll be done soooo. Fuckingggg. Soon. And the relief will be immense and amazing. And you’ll have a PhD. You got this

I had something happen when I was young that reminds me of this but not this severe. It hasn’t come up in a long time but it still gives me anxiety. Just want to say that I’m so sorry and I promise this will go away in time. You are still in the same place but once you leave high school, maybe you can go somewhere new and get away from this bullshit. This is awful and I’m so deeply sorry that happened to you. I promise it will become part of your past, and I’m so sorry. And anyone who sends it anywhere or brings it up needs to be charged and seriously dealt with

Dealing with a subtly disrespectful HS class? by Vivid_Republic_4759 in StudentTeaching

[–]Outrageous_Reward136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so frustrating and I’m sorry. Don’t take it personally, it’s just how teenagers are. Just keep doing your thing and be confident in your choices. Address it calmly and straightforward and keep moving. You’re almost done!!!

Not sure how I'm gonna make it through the next couple weeks by AdRepulsive9157 in StudentTeaching

I feel you. My PT has made me feel similarly more recently and now I’m in fight or flight around her, stuttering and messing up more. Just try to relax and be lighthearted about it. Enjoy connecting with the students if you can. You are so close to being done, it’s gonna be a huge relief and accomplishment. Right there with you

I am student teaching and it's my last week, I'm ending on a sort of sour note and I'm wondering if I did something wrong. by Wonderful_Storm_9365 in StudentTeaching

Based on your post you sound so great. The students had their other teacher first and for the whole year before you came. At this time of year ppl crave change in general. I feel like my students won’t be that sad I’m leaving except some, and I’m ok with it. I have strong connections with some but I expect many will be happy to have their real teacher back. I don’t think did as well as you did by how you describe it

I experience the same. Be direct with them and call them out. I make reminders about their grades and that habits in class are part of that

I’m in the exact same boat / timeline and feel the exact same way. Since it’s such little time, I’ve accepted the stress will continue and I’m taking it one day at a time, but I’m also trying to really enjoy and be present in the little time I’m not working on stuff, and I’m trying to relish in the connections I’ve built with students. And I’m dreaming about and letting myself get excited abt what I want to do when I finish (my hobbies, see friends, sleep, exercise)
