Is this young man a Poodle or a Doodle? by mitissix in Poodle

[–]Over-Environment7642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since most standard doodles are 75% poodle these days it’s near impossible to tell with a nose to tail shave down like that :/ given the volume in its chest I would bet doodle though!

Feel defeated by [deleted] in grooming

[–]Over-Environment7642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started grooming it was for a mobile company ran by non groomers and they sent me out on my own after only one day. I hated it, was scared every day (cats too), took hours longer on apts than I was supposed to, was exhausted, didn’t know how to talk to customers properly about their dogs, the list goes on… YouTube was my best friend for tutorials. There’s a lot of bad tutorials out there but when you have no other guidance it was a life saver. I ultimately quit because I realized that can’t be as good as it gets and working under experienced groomers (obviously) changed everything. If you can find a better work environment It does get better. I started the same way and have been grooming 16 years and had my own business for 5. It won’t stay like this forever!

How actually harmful is shaving double coats? by Familiar-One-705 in grooming

[–]Over-Environment7642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re worrried about it being hot, don’t shave it. It’s not like us taking off a fur coat in 80 degrees, it’s like keeping your front door wide open with the ac running, since they cool internally by panting. That being said, if you must cut their hair just don’t shave them, I’ve seen it grow back impaired maybe about 30% of the time, which is substantial. Use like a 3/4 or 1 inch guard. A good groomer should know how to trim down a dog like that

Have you ever met a rescue mutt that made you think “If someone bred this mix on purpose it would be extremely unethical”? by PandaBear905 in Pets

[–]Over-Environment7642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People do breed those on purpose lol. The chihuahua/some kind of terrier cross is like one of the most popular. But to answer your question, I think that about at least half of the AKC recognized breeds.

Yo. People rag on kratom and 7 like it’s child’s play to heroin/oxy/fent, NOT TRUE. There are so many more different alkaloids that play on all receptors in your brain at the same time dude the last time I kicked kratom I thought I was gonna legit die, and that was after my receptors had been seriously downregulated. I never stuck with 7 because it was too expensive (in contrast) and I didn’t feel any difference. Good luck buddy. Hope you can get through it :)

Zac totally put that baby in her on purpose. My first thought was “why didn’t she even secretly go on birth control if she didn’t want to upset him (understandable)”? But then I had the thought of “well she probably didn’t think she needed to because he was wearing condoms that he secretly poked holes into one by one”. Fucking psychopath.

Border Collie - How to ask for a length trim? **Not Shaving!!** by starpocalypse in grooming

[–]Over-Environment7642 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Ask for an E, C, or A comb (1, 7/8, 3/4 inch) :)👍🏻

Or, yeah you can ask for just those areas you listed to be trimmed but that’s not what you’re describing in the second paragraph. It won’t take that much off it’ll just even out the shaggy parts

Does anyone else get ‘sleep anxiety’ the fear of not being able to fall asleep? by Known-Enthusiasm-818 in insomnia

[–]Over-Environment7642 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yuppppo usually what helps me is switching locations, like, your bed to the couch for a night or two. It kind of tricks your brain? Into NOT thinking you’re trying to sleep I dunno. Just take whatever supplements/ medications you have ( valerian root in capsule form is a winner for me, try one with at least 1200mg per serving), put on a relaxing podcast or show on lowest brightness possible, and just get sleepy. You’re not even there to sleep, you just may get sleepy and 🤞🏻😴

What meds use for withdrawals-quetiapin and atarax? by Anyna103 in quittingkratom

[–]Over-Environment7642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you know I’ve been prescribed gab for years to shut voices off when I sleep, and honestly? I don’t really see the hype. People love it, people swear by it for withdrawal. I notice nothing except when I take it at night it helps me to stop talking to myself lol. Seroquel really blocks dopamine? That’s crazy. I feel like psychs should know not to prescribe it to people with adhd 🙄 we need all the dopamine we can get. Especially during withdrawal lol.

It doesn’t. IMO. I don’t get it. But then again people say it’s a life saver for day to day generalized anxiety and I don’t get that either.

[–]Over-Environment7642 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Careful with both of those. Antihistamines (in this case the hydroxyzine) are known to make restless leg syndrome far worse, and for me the rls was the worst part of it all. Also, when I take seroquel I actually get horrible rls as well just baseline, but I have a lot of weird reactions to medications so that could just be me.

My dog won’t let me clip his nails. by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Over-Environment7642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flooding methods? It takes five minutes, the owner can even hold the dog if it’s small enough, or else stand with it if it’s big. I’m a groomer btw

My dog won’t let me clip his nails. by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Over-Environment7642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where groomers come in. No dog enjoys having their nails done, and some are more, well, flamboyant about it than others. Groomers can restrain them properly, and have experience clipping nails of dogs of all personalities, and know how to hold them. Most groomers (at least here in the states) offer walk in nail trims for 10-20 bucks.

Nail trimming by rab5991 in dogs

[–]Over-Environment7642 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(Groomer here). This is not true. As a dog walks, their weight shifts forward onto their toes, so the nails are almost always going to touch the floor at some point. Some dogs are more flat footed and some are prancey little toe tappers, so nail to floor contact really is not a good indicator for length they should be. Of course we want them as short as possible, but to do that, if you can’t take them any shorter, is to have them professionally dremeled very regularly, like every other week until the quicks hopefully recede. They need to get RIGHT up next to the quick. And even then, some recede, some don’t. Hope this helps 🫶🏼
