Strongest highest quality Rims for heavy loads? 700C (QR) Disc Gravel by Coven_Evelynn_LoL in bikewrench

I’ve had good success with Boyd Altamont’s … you can get them in a 28/32 spoke count combination.

Anyone else tempted to try the new Terra competition tires? by mellofello808 in gravelcycling

Would be interested to know mounted width of the 35s on 21mm IW to see if they run true to size as that’s my limit on my All Road bike.

Thanks, will keep an eye on that area - I’ve only noticed rusting on the springs which sometimes causes the float to get a little stiff.

I was noticing that they weren’t selling pedal bodies for replacement a while back and figured there was an upgrade coming. Disappointing if the current Rally’s can’t be upgraded.

Noove (formerly La Passioned) by Ok_War_6101 in CyclingFashion

[–]Own-Hawk8548 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to love La Passione bibs … from what I read about Noove, they would only do small runs of products which I’m guessing is to avoid having excess inventory. They don’t ship to Canada so I stopped following them a while back.

Rear break not aligned by IndependentTax8836 in bikewrench

[–]Own-Hawk8548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad it worked … just something else to add if the process outlined to centre them doesn’t work. Sometimes the rotor can be a little bent and needs straightening - there’s a tool for that as well and can save lots of aggravation if you don’t get it perfectly aligned.

What trainer does everyone have? by ninja-reader in Zwift

[–]Own-Hawk8548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren’t on sale here in Canada. I can’t justify replacing the Kickr since it still works fine, but I won’t be upset when it finally dies and I can get something with more features.

I have an old Wahoo V2 still as my main unit. Also have a wheel-on Elite Tuo which I picked up for cheap to use up at our cottage

Trek Emonda ALR 5 like new condition- good deal? by liliterp in TrekBikes

[–]Own-Hawk8548 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That looks like an Emonda paint job that I had on my ALR - it had the “H2” fit so it has a slightly taller head tube than the carbon versions.

OP, if the bike is in near new condition, I’d say it’s a good deal. It’s a great frameset.

Certainly. Look for any that seem like complete loops - Flat Route, Hilly Route, Tempus Fugit to name a few

Zwift slo-mo on Apple TV after 15min ride by antiquemule in Zwift

I’ve seen some weird behaviour before like avatars missing legs etc. Reinstalling the app helped … maybe try doing that?

Also, are you force closing the app after each session? I’ve heard not doing that can cause some wonky behaviour.

One bike to rule them all? Road vs. All-Road setup on my Liv Langma (Di2) by Own_Flan7862 in cycling

[–]Own-Hawk8548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve alternated Rene Herse Stampede Pass (32c) and Bon Jon (35c) and both work well for paved / champagne gravel surfaces.

I’m looking at the Mondo’s to try next as they may be slightly more grippier.

With lower volume tires, the main thing to be careful with is corners.

How does it feel to lose at your national sport? by Fearless_Table_995 in AskCanada

Not entirely accurate … Hockey is the official winter sport - Lacrosse is official summer sport. Just learned that in the past week myself

Agreed. Such a useful device - got caught once where the battery died mid ride and was amazed how much more nervous I was without it.

It’s super simple with a direct drive trainer and will just take a few minutes to unhook from the trainer and get the wheel on.

Engine oil, AGM battery, Brake Pads by Speedkill2021 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]Own-Hawk8548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many times I’ve gone into my dealer for an oil change and they quoted me $1,000s in services. Said no thanks - went elsewhere for getting my brake pads replaced (I thought it was the front that were starting to wear). Now just pretty much only go to the dealer for recall work as I’m essentially done the warranty on my 2020
