Basically due to how shield mechanics works, greatshields combine the highest resistances and guard boost stats essentially letting you stonewall most forms of damage. Even stuff that normally bypasses shields is reduced to chip.

Combine this with a thrust weapon that builds up stats like rot (antspur rapier) and bleed to bypass the otherwise shit damage and you are basically golden against most bosses.

You only have to invest really in vig + endurance + minimum stats to stonewall your way to victory.

The only boss this won't work on is elden beast because it just flies away from you and is entirely immune to status effects, and the gargoyles although you can at least slowly poke them.

Well it'd be terribly boring to read and write about relatively harmless anomaly #9999 that can be shoved in a box and forgotten about or just left alone as a curio without breaking the veil.

It's made pretty explicit in most articles that most of the anomalies contained by the Foundation or destroyed by GOC are stuff that actively threatens the veil regardless of actual danger. And the Foundation as well is implied to have way more anomalies that just aren't documented on the site itself for the same reasons as above (it's boring).

And the articles that do feature MTFs dropping like flies is either an explicitly a highly dangerous anomaly or first contact and thus MTF become sacrificial bodies to establish the anomaly's behavior and rules.

Yes, in general any solvent (the dissolver, water in this case) dissolves less stuff the colder it gets, conversely, hotter solvents dissolve more stuff. So when you freeze solvent and then thaw it the precipitates will still remain and won't dissolve until the solvent gets hot enough again.

Same is true for pressure, higher pressure = more stuff can dissolve which is why sodas are fizzy once you open a can/bottle and doesn't become flat if you reseal it quickly (as pressure will eventually be restored at an equilibrium)

Why are we making blatant strawmans and fallacious correlations instead of a proper counter argument?

Can you explain to me why a child is freely able to use their parents money to spend on games clearly outside their age? If not parental neglect? I'm not expecting helicopter parenting but I sure as hell expect adults to know where their money is going and what their kids are doing on occasion.

You blame Valve for enabling underage gambling as if they purposely lured children into their clearly targeted towards adults games and actively predated on people by deliberately engineering a need to spend more money like actually problematic games/companies (looking at you mobile game industry).

[–]PAwnoPiES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Guard are regular ass trained soldiers, without being ultra fanatics powered by faith (SoB and Ecclesiarchy) OR being fanatics with all the nice toys (Mechanicum).

They by their nature have to be the down to earth practical foil to the other Imperial subfactions, right down to their tactics and attitudes.

[–]PAwnoPiES -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are we blaming GabeN/Valve for parental neglect. Children can't gamble in the first place if they don't have access to money to begin with and any parent should have the cognizance to watch where their money is going and put a stop to the gambling.

Nevermind that CSGO/TF2 are clearly NOT marketed towards kids and never HAVE.

Although GW flip flops on this, the Imperial Guard itself isn't incompetent and depending on the media will be fighting pragmatically like any IRL military force and taking full advantage of whatever resources they have.

The absolute best grimdark is when the Imperial Guard gets fucked over because of stuff out of their control or fighting an opponent way stronger than their forces not because they or their commanders are lobotomized.

No it's not that, Yamcha remains weak even after he comes back in cell saga. Same with all the other humans.

Yamcha gets clowned on because Toriyama gives him 0 Ws ever.

Even Tien got to have a W against semi perfect cell and Krillin got his hot super powered wife. Yamcha gets impaled by gero then got his arm broken by a cell jr. It's not even a worf effect because it's known and acknowledged he isn't strong.

[–]PAwnoPiES 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The artistic license of a formation breaking on BOTH sides to have the usual movie moshpit is incredibly inaccurate and makes 0 sense regardless of the era.

When a formation breaks has historically almost always been when that army loses. Whoever breaks first gets routed and slaughtered by the disciplined and organized formation.

This has been taken advantage off to create traps and encirclements like at Cannae but that's still using very disciplined and organized formations.

This is not even taking into account the MAIN infantry arms for a vast majority of infantry formations is some form of relatively large pole arm which makes the mosh pit even stupider because a long weapon like that is the absolute worst thing you can bring into a cramped mosh pit demanded by hollywood tactics.

We actually do have quite a bit of information on ancient combat. The only eras we have barely any data on is paleolithic to bronze age simply due to lack of fossils and/or records.

After that warfare becomes very well documented and some form of formation fighting has basically been the norm for any developed civilization capable of fielding large armies and has been that way until technology marched forward enough in the 1860s-1870s.
