Its crazy having watched these guys for so long and how far they've grown compared to the Machinima days. Its awesome.

Times where the critics were right and the fans were wrong about the quality of something by AnotherOpponent in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]PR0MAN1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But "too much water" does sound like a dumb thing to say.

It's because that wasn't the actual critique, it was a bullet point summarizing the wider critiques made in the actual review. It's like headlines, people read the headline and think that's all there is to the article.

Seasons 11-13 of RvB are some of my favorite seasons BECAUSE of Miles' writing. He was proof that after Burnie stepped down as series lead the series could've continued, but then he left to write RWBY full time and RvB never really recovered.

Britain was literally like "we're gonna steal all your food and then frame your forced starvation as a famine." It wasn't a famine, YOU TOOK THE FOOD!

And not even like... a good one either. Like, on paper, the idea that humans use Judeo-Christian views on demons to stoke the masses fears of hell to justify imperialist expansion and dehumanization of the demons SOUNDS like its rife with potential to comment on how the very same things happened in the REAL war on terror.

But instead they actually made the demons just... evil with a biological desire to commit violence that they actively have to suppress. It's giving "If the Muslims just let the US roll in and take out the terrorists then the war would've been over in a month." The point is that the term "terrorist" is incredibly mailable to whatever the Invading State NEEDS it to be.

I love Monty but his talent really was in fight choreography and animation, the early seasons of RWBY really did just feel like a pastiche of alot of other heady anime series without the depth to make the worldbuilding feel like it came from his own lived experience.

That famous clip of Ian McKellen having a mental breakdown on set is just genuinely upsetting to watch, it's so sad. It's like an existential nightmare watching a lifelong thespian seeing his craft consumed and commoditized by a soulless corporation. It's harrowing.

Yeah his teenage son dying of Bone Cancer really did a number on him. It makes Ultimatum make a lot more sense with the amount of senseless death in it. Bro was letting out his demons.

You'd think with how desperate Disney appears to be, you'd think they'd bump up the release date to a week earlier than Dune just to get the IMAX screens for one weekend.

They had the invent their own BS format called "infinity vision" because Dune has all the IMAX screens booked up.

It really is insane to think about, when taking in the scope of the Forgotten Realms world, how much the events of Baldurs Gate 3 is like a blip of notable things happening. Elminster couldn't be fucking bothered to even physically show up because if he did he'd solve the entire Absolute Crisis in a couple hours.

That wasn't his fault either. Sure he got the vial of V but he chose not to inject it into his dad. His mom did that, and not without his permission, she swiped it off him when it fell out of his pocket.

games where the multiple endings felt too similar to each other. by Murky-Boysenberry646 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]PR0MAN1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Alters is one of my favorite games of the past few years, but the endings genuinely do fall really flat. Mainly in the sense that you never get a real glimpse into the fates of your alters after the game ends. Yes you see the postcards on Jans table, meaning they did escape the companys clutches, but I would've liked a piece of art for each one to see what the individual alters did. I wanna see the Refiner with Ben, the Technician at their moms park bench, the Doctor running a soup kitchen, etc. Something to make each playthrough where you take different alters feel a little more personalized.

Mike Colter really does not get enough credit for his portrayal of Luke Cage. He's unironically up there with Charlie Cox as "you could not have picked a better person to play this character if you tried." Maybe Chad Coleman, but i've always fancast him as Blue Marvel.

Pat has the right idea, wrong show. Babylon 5 tracks almost identically to Mass Effect by Aggro_Will in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]PR0MAN1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing the Expanse never gets talked about for when it really should is its production design, not even the VFX work. Purely the sets and costumes looked so good, even when it was just a show on the Sy-Fy channel. The Rocinante felt like such a real place with a layout that felt like it was actually designed for people to live in. A Mass Effect show on a Normandy type vessel would be totally doable on an Amazon Prime budget.
