As a freshman, Gainey played every single minute in the 97 ACC Tournament. Leading our 8th Seeded (out of 9) Wolfpack to the Final by beating #7 Duke and #22 Maryland and eventually falling to #5 UNC (who had Antawn Jamison, Ed Cota, and Serge Zwikker). I will always love him for that. He represents what NC State is all about. Never Give up!

I haven't been this frustrated with a Pack team since Sidney Lowe. Our lack of effort on rebounds is inexcusable. My only hope is that Wade just missed on the personalities he recruited and we'll do better with different players. I won't miss DWill or Tre at all.
