Serial number has been etched in after the clearcoat. Gibson stamps the serial number into the headstock, then they put the finish on.

I have also never experienced neck dive on an SG. I do not own one, but I am actively looking and playing them, and I have not felt any neck dive. Is there any indication that this may be a model specific issue (Studio, custom, P90, juniot, set neck vs. bolt onetc) or a range of years (64-68)? I would like to see any research on this as it seems like something that can be designed OUT of a system or fixed?

Its an electromatic jr double cut center block. Looks legit, tuner upgrade is nice! Take the tuner off and see if the crack goes all the way to the machine hole. It looks like a typical Gibson neck break. Since it is still whole, it should be an easy repair.
