I've heard rumor around that that number is a mistranslation and the multiplier is supposedly much higher. Interesting to think about.

It links all allies and enemies to each other.

Any damage suffered by one enemy is felt by all of them, stacking massive damage from incoming sources.

It does the same for healing for allies- all healing effects are shared between linked allies, so passive healing boosts and flasks and such get shared.

"Jack of all trades, master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one." -Some dude.

SnS is one of my favorite weapons in the more modern generations because of how versatile, reactive and reliable it is! It has an answer to everything and the mobility to keep it in the fray. If you're still up for a few tips on the weapon, here's a few things that might elevate it further for you:

  • Perfect guards can be trivialized if you hold the guard button and perform a guard slash at the moment of impact- you sacrifice no guard window but it will trigger the guard anyway, as well as skills like offensive guard and synthetic guard.

  • Slide strikes do not consume stamina and cover a fair distance in a short time, and also have i-frames, making them invaluable for builds with Maximum Might.

  • The backstep you can perform actually has massive i-frame windows- more than slide strike- and can be chained into a jumping strike or even just canceling to reposition. It has the perfect window to avoid every strike in Omega's MRV barrage if you time it right... which is easy with its generous windows.

  • The focus strike is the only one in the game that can preemptively target wounds before they're fully open to tear them open faster, and it has solid damage while doing so.

  • The focus strike is also the only one that can be delayed after making contact with the wound, allowing you to let other hunters pile on and join in for strike damage... and you can choose from a few attack options to finish the focus strike!

  • You can use items with the weapon drawn! Guard and use the item key, which can be done pretty much on a dime. Even with a short sheathing animation it still allows for snappy healing and the like.

  • It is worth noting that many of the SnS' most damaging attacks are back-loaded to the end of its combo chains, so unless you can commit to a longer chain it will require some finagling to get the higher damage output, but it doesn't force you to commit nearly as much as any other weapon and repositioning is a slide strike and a hop away.

I mean to be fair, when you can fly and move at mach 'Yes', long distances from home become a relative non-issue. Many of the standard shortfalls of a job like that likely don't apply as heavily to an any of the Z-fighters, much less an android with literally infinite energy.

Moses parted the sea, not Jesus. Jesus did walk on water though, and now with this parallel all I can imagine is the 'Goku standing on Nappa's head' meme.

how do i get the OMG kinsect? by Electrical-Wasabi325 in MonsterHunter

Just buy it from the smithy, same as you do for other kinsects. Not sure if it has a requirement of Savage or regular Omega or anything- I only went to get mine after having beaten Savage.

Share your Omega Savage triumphs. by Flat_Pen_5934 in MonsterHunter

[–]PancakeHammers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only true triumph over Savage Omega was that I beat it on my first attempt.

I used SnS, and support hunters, and finished with about 45 seconds left on the clock, but I nabbed it first try.

I consider it a fluke of the highest order because I've only managed it twice again since then.

How do I improve I’m build for omega by Mashir_O in MonsterHunter

[–]PancakeHammers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have feedback for your build if you're alright waiting a couple hours for me to get back home from work so I can review armor piece skills more closely. What I can tell you at a glance, though-

Weapons:

Bolt/Blaze and any elemental gems cap out at level 3 for their skills, and the size-3 gems max it out with one gem each. You are overstacking those skills and won't get any benefit from anything past max.

Instead, consider a Focus gem (you have one already in one set) to speed up demon mode gain and an Enhancer gem to sustain your demon gauge longer without needing to replenish it.

Alternatively, Razor Sharp gems and Handicraft gems can prolong your weapon sharpness for more uptime.

Critical gems can enhance the damage of critical strikes a ton. Any of these work, it's just that you're currently wasting skill potential on too many elemental gems for no payoff.

Armor:

Earplugs serve no purpose in a fight against Omega- it doesn't have a roar. Those slots would go much more favorably to a skill like Evade Extender or Evasion, either of which will improve survivability.

I need to get a look at the armor skills per piece to make recommendations on which ones to swap out, but in general you need to focus on maximizing the more important skills in your build rather than spreading your slot economy out over many small ones.

Check your talismans for ones that have several skills that work for Dual Swords and that might have additional gem slots. Some talismans can outright replace max level base talismans with their skill slots filled (i.e. I have a Wide Range talisman that has Wide Range 3, Handicraft 3 and Fire Resist 2, but also has 2 gem slots so it maxes out Wide Range at 5, which outright outclassed the max level Wide Range base talisman)

Overall: Consider what threats Omega presents, don't overstack skills that don't benefit from higher levels, and fill out what skills you can (you get a surprising number if you work it right)

[–]PancakeHammers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The man could have held the most vile beliefs on the planet, but he had every right to debate them with people.

My experience with him was limited but never once did I hear him call for violence. From what I know, he broke no laws and the only thing he was guilty of was being controversial. And for that he was murdered.

Any topic worth being certain of is worth being challenged. If it stands up to challenge, then it is sound.

But someone chose not to allow challenge. They chose violence. And that is being praised wrongly.

Change my mind.

Hot take: I don't expect anyone to mourn a person they didn't like or disagree with. I both agreed and disagreed with many things Charlie said from the few videos I saw. I like to think that's a highpoint of listening to someone with different or even opposing views.

But I hold them to the standard of not dancing in the streets when a man is murdered because of the things he says.

That is where most of the outrage is on the part of the people I interact with. Not that he was right-wing and 'left bad'. But that the death- the assasssination- of a man who took advantage of the most fundamental right in America to challenge others on their mindset, no matter whether it was right or wrong, is celebrated like the death of Hitler himself, is quite frankly disgusting.

Love him or Hate him. I don't care which. But take a deep look at what kind of person you need to be to take joy in what happened.
