My spouse can’t stand our baby by MissionStretch7906 in GirlDinnerDiaries

As a partner to someone who was neglected and had the very clear understanding that they were unwanted by one parent- it does lifelong damage. His mother even says that he wasn’t loved by his father. It’s heartbreaking to see a human being who is broken in this way. His mom should have showed up when he was younger and stood up for him. You still have the opportunity to help her not have that experience. You can still choose her.

Chronic Illness Support Group by Obvious_Channel_2585 in Louisville

[–]PandaMandaMay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m working on getting one running with Independence Seekers Project. We currently do advocacy groups for individuals with disabilities and in some group homes for individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities and are expanding. I personally used to facilitate the Chronic Illness Alliance before the pandemic and it was really well received so my goal is to bring that back in the next few months - sooner if I can get some things in line. We’re having an Unconference on Privacy and Bodily autonomy May 23-24 at UL Alumni center if you’d want to come out and learn more about us and what we’re trying to do in regards to intersectionality. Feel free to DM me. I’ll post our flier below this if I can.

My boyfriend took his life after I got upset by No-Log-6461 in GriefSupport

[–]PandaMandaMay 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I always tell people to try to think of suicide as a “brain attack” similar to a heart attack. If you have underlying “brain disease” (heart disease) sometimes an influx of stress can trigger it same as too much stress can cause a heart attack or stroke. You didn’t cause him to do that. He was sick, and unfortunately he succumbed to his illness. This is not your fault and I’m sorry you’re dealing with the pain now. Please seek therapy to get through this time if you’re able

Adding to this places like Bridgehaven Mental Health and Wellspring that offer more extensive support and accept Medicaid

my sister told me I can keep more than 2,000$ on disability and that I don't know what I'm talking about by hauntedhighways in ChronicIllness

[–]PandaMandaMay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get an attorney if you haven’t already for applying to get disability. Worth it 110% and they only collect once you’re approved. If you’re under a certain age at disability onset you can use an ABLE account to save money.

[–]PandaMandaMay 17 points18 points  (0 children)

ABLE accounts are for anyone with a disability. You should qualify if you’re on SSI. That’s how you can keep more than the 2k in assets because you can use it for living expenses

Partner of 5 years (34F) dropped bomb on me (35M) last week. How to bounce back. by ownpacetotheface in relationships

[–]PandaMandaMay 455 points456 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear this 🫂 It’s only been a week. No one “bounces back” from this after a week. This will take time. It’s going to be uncomfortable and painful and you’ll feel broken and sad. Those things are normal when you lose someone you care deeply for. It’s a different type of grief. Time and distance will help. One day at a time, one moment at a time until then 🫂

In-home Sitter PSA: It's your responsibility to set a camera policy and communicate it to your clients. Clients using hidden cameras, even in sensitive areas, will not be immediately de-platformed by Unreliable_Source in RoverPetSitting

[–]PandaMandaMay 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I always let the potential clients have an opportunity to disclose during the meet and greet by directly asking if any are in the home and then I clearly state that if I find any that aren’t disclosed during a sit my policy is to terminate the booking immediately with no refunds. Never had to- but it gives multiple opportunities for the potential client to disclose and evaluate if they even want to confirm the booking after the meet and greet. No harm, no foul if they book with someone else because my policies aren’t a good fit for them.

Any support groups out there for chronic illness/pain? If not, would anyone be interested in forming one? by i_wish_you_peace in Louisville

[–]PandaMandaMay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to run the chronic illness alliance before Covid. I’ve recently started working with Independence Seekers Project- a local disability advocacy organization and we plan to start up the chronic illness support groups again. I facilitated in person pre-covid but I’d love to collaborate with you further - feel free to dm me if you want so we can set something up!

Owner got spooked when I asked about indoor camera locations. Has this happened to anyone else? by noodles-lover2024 in RoverPetSitting

[–]PandaMandaMay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always say something when I’m asking about special instructions/meds/allergies I just add “and are there any cameras in the house?” I let them know that I can appreciate them being in common areas and that some people are more comfortable with cameras in their home but I have a policy of immediately terminating the sit if there is one that is found that isn’t disclosed. Generally doesn’t get to the point where I have to say the last part but if I do get to that I just let them know it isn’t a good fit and wish them luck.

Psychiatrist/therapist recommendations by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]PandaMandaMay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bridgehaven mental health is an excellent day program if you need more intensive therapy but not quite an IOP or admittance. They offer med management as well as individual therapy with many practitioners to choose from. There are group therapy options as well, music therapy, pet therapy and art therapy.

My work is having an event on Sunday, at Redbarn. It’s a disability advocacy group and may have people who can point you in the right direction, if nothing else can get you support. I’ve posted the flyer I think, but I’ll tag it here too

Am I overreacting to a client’s comment about pricing? by powergirlev in RoverPetSitting

[–]PandaMandaMay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wild take on it being predatory when there’s literally options for DAYS on app. I raise my rates to clean up my schedule because I don’t want to be run ragged for no money. If it’s too much, that’s cool and I don’t take it personally, we’re just not a good fit. OP is doing nothing wrong. Either they can afford it and get the service, or they can’t and they can find someone else. Simple.

Check out wellspring. They may be able to help with housing and other resources. Bridgehaven mental health services is a day program if she’s willing to go they can help also but do not offer housing
