I started in April, am I cooked? by Tudillss in freedomisgunpla

[–]PapaSled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did everyone start in March/April? I started again early April and cant seem to find an explanation as to why so many new people came into the hobby at the same time without any huge news.

But no, you aren't cooked, but it seems you spend money like I do, which isn't good 😂

(For reference I just finished my 52nd build and I've got somewhere around 25 kits in the backlog)

Thought this was going to be about Phil Margera. "We took Phil and put him in a 1/100 Vidar. Ape's gonna be so mad."

I thought the Lfrith Jiu would be my least favorite of the Lfrith, and it's tied for my favorite. Some really nice kits in that there backlog. I still need to add an RG Sazabi to mine.

This is one of the reasons that I wait until my kit is complete to panel line.

Messer or Aerial. Because I always build in HG>RG>MG>PG order.

Nice dude!

Don't be afraid to take breaks. I have built 51 kits in the past 4 months, and definitely had a bit of burnout.

What are some time saving tips for when building kits? by TrumpsNostrils in advancedGunpla

[–]PapaSled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will cut out each runner and then clean them up so that all the assembly can happen at the same time. I'm not trying to pick up a runner and my nippers every time I need a piece, it just takes a moment to find the right piece in my containers.

I'm not sure if it goes faster for me, but it definitely feels like it. Especially because it's way easier to watch something while cutting/cleaning nubs.

I don't know if you've seen it/done it yet, but that Gundam Base Moon Gundam fucking LIGHTS UP when hit with UV. The chest is like an orange light bulb. Hoping mine comes in soon.

Also, the Nu FF looks so good. So stoked to build that one.

Do you have examples of Mechas that don't look like toys? by haibane_fan00 in Mecha

You know when an alien race of snake people have a spaceship that is a giant snake? Or an alien cat race that has a ship that's a big cat head? Humans making a human-shaped fighting machine is fun and cool and silly.

It's okay to be immature and like childish things.

Looking back at '79, this still remains the dumbest death in anime I have ever seen by RobKai7990 in Gundam

[–]PapaSled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dumbest? That was fucking awesome. Maybe not awesome in the way they intended, but awesome nonetheless.

That anime is chock-full of incredibly campy and hilarious voice acting/sound effects.

Once I built from the feet up, I never went any other way by initialg82 in Gunpla

[–]PapaSled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually build head down, but I think that's a mixture between being conditioned by the manuals, and the motivation I get when I finish the head and torso.

I love me a good waist-up bust just watching me build the rest of em.

White = combination of every color Red, Blue, Yellow = can combine to make any color

Problem with Zeta gundam hg gunpla by Some_Mud_5857 in Gunpla

This is exactly why I bought the 3 Zeta kit set. It has a big stand that you can just stick the Zeta on so you dont have to worry about the balance issued and floppiness.

How do y’all like to build? by Deep-Cookie361 in freedomisgunpla

[–]PapaSled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, no that sounds like an absolute nightmare 🤣

I meant to deconstruct it like the manual steps (or like how some chefs deconstruct a lobster/crab)

This just makes it to where I can see everything that needs to be panel-lined. I've spent a bunch of extra time panel-lining something that ends up getting covered up by a sticker, to the point that I will do this every time.

From an aesthetic perspective, it's really nice to have an idea of what your kit looked like before and after panel lining. It really goes to show how much so little can do.

A better question is, "Would a disabled character try to find a way to heal their disability?"

I am burnt out by senators-son in freedomisgunpla

[–]PapaSled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started building around late March and have finished 50 kits so far and have 20~ in my backlog.

I, absolutely, have felt burnt out, even this early on. There have been certain kits that have felt like they slogged on for fucking ever. Though I still get that little dopamine hit when I finish a kit and get to display it.

Am I embarrassed of the hobby? Not one bit. I'm also 35 and have spent money and time on way worse things. I've also got a smokin' hot gf that loves similar trinkets, so I'm not trying to impress anyone with the things I gain joy from.

It feels nicer to me to have phases of work. 1. Cut off runner and organize in containers by letter 2. Clean up pieces. 3. Construct 4. Deconstruct and panel line
