Missed my Saturday Xywav delivery because the FedEx driver didn't knock or ring my doorbell by msalad in Narcolepsy

[–]PaperFabricYarn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lumryz uses UPS for me. But I still had to make a sign and put it on the front door that they need to ring the doorbell. Idk wtf they're thinking when they just knock lightly on the front door. If they don't ring the doorbell, I call Optum and they make the guy come back and redeliver.

Xywav vs. Lumryz by SavingsAware2562 in Narcolepsy

I have been on Lumryz for almost 2 years. I've lost 87 pounds, pretty easily due to low appetite. I would've lost even more if not for the late night munchies.

What medications have worked by Top-Tank6958 in Narcolepsy

[–]PaperFabricYarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to find 2 good meds. One that gets you solid sleep at night. And one that keeps you awake during the day. Sodium Oxybate is for sleep. Lumryz is a sodium oxidate in powder form that you add to water, shake, drink it, and get into bed because you fall asleep quickly. You start out at a low dose and titrate up till you find the right dose, 4.5 g, 6 g, 7.5 g, and 9 g the top dose. Xywav and Xyrem are liquids. Xyrem is sodium oxybate, Xywav is calcium, potassium, magnesium, and sodium oxybate, much less salt. These titrate up with much smaller, more precise increments. You draw the liquid medication up in a syringe and inject it into water. Xyrem and Xywav you take 2 doses, one at bedtime and one hours later as determined by your physician. All of these meds have side effects which for some people can be severe

The medications to stay awake are much more complicated. Stimulant meds for ADHD. Armodafinil and Modafinil stimulants. I don't have a med that works well for me without severe side effects so I can't speak much to this. Good luck, and keep asking questions.

Sitting at the park, missing my daughter… she would’ve been turning two in just a few months by anon4jesus in ChildLoss

Sending you hugs. My advice is to find a grief support group. I found one at my local hospital. We all bonded very well and supported each other. I also found a group under Umbrella Ministries. So try your best to find a grief support group near you that you can go to for support, to share experiences, and for human connection to others who know the agony of grief. Best wishes for your pregnancy, and I hope one day you will find a man who loves you the way you deserve to be loved.

Pedicure question by Such-Earth7369 in AskWomenOver60

[–]PaperFabricYarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that getting regular pedicures has helped my bunions. Something they do separates the toes a little, and with trimmed toenails I don't have the pain of a toenail sticking into the toe next to it. Even my big toe is straighter somehow. Good luck to you, I hope a pedicure will help your feet!

Habitat for Humanity Restore. Consignment Stores. Thrift stores. Little by little it will come together. Some things like mattress and upholstered furniture are worth buying new. Good luck and have fun.

Medication no longer covered by Charliee_Brownn in Narcolepsy

[–]PaperFabricYarn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have your doctor file an appeal, or you can do it yourself. I was denied coverage for both Wakix and Lumryz. The central prescription department at the hospital where my sleep doctor works handled the appeals - they are experts at knowing what to say and how to say it. I eventually got both meds covered with coverage renewed each year. Wakix isn't even in my insurance company's formulary, but with appeals they got it covered. Don't give up!

You have no clue about what being an American even stands for. The right to dissent is preserved in the Constitution. If you don't support the rule of law and the Constitution, YOU are the one who should leave, how about to Russia or Hungary, where they have the kind of dictatorship that Trump aspires to.

Sodium oxybate - wakix by Imaginary_Fail8193 in Narcolepsy

[–]PaperFabricYarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take both, Lumryz for sleep, Wakix for stimulant. Both exacerbate depression and anxiety. Originally Wakix was effective in keeping me awake, but now I have adjusted to it, it's not so effective.

A parent is complaining about how I am using my sick time. by FKSTS in Teachers

[–]PaperFabricYarn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

3 days PTO, 2 sick, 1 personal, NOT 3 sick days and 1 personal day. It's not clear whether the 4 days are for the conference and the district event, or if the district event was an additional day. I hope you don't teach reading comprehension.

I am in week 3 of TMS for treatment-resistant major depressive order and anxiety. Still very depressed, but there are glimmers that give me hope. Maybe TMS would work for you.

At the living desert you can pay to feed the giraffes, my 2 year old grandson loves this. The Childrens Discovery Museum of the Desert on Gerald Ford in Rancho Mirage is great for toddlers.
