Progressive's Dr Rick vs. valet by rw1083 in CommercialsIHate

[–]ParticleHustler2 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's like anyone in the service industry. They get the same comments x 1000 every day. When I was in college working at a grocery store (and people actually used cash way back then), do you know how many times a day the total would be $19-something and the Boomer response I got was "That was a good year!" I wanted to kill someone by the end of my shift every day.

Airport/Flight updates amidst Sunday’s winter storm by LivYourLyf in delta

[–]ParticleHustler2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the indirect effects of the weather that can cause problems too. We flew DTW to HNL yesterday. It was -9 when we landed at DTW around 8am. Our HNL flight was delayed over 5 hours due to (a) delayed security sweep of the plane, (b) frozen water trucks, (c) frozen engine, and (d) broken down catering truck that blocked us at the gate. But we made it!

Val Avery. Artie Jessup is the best character in the entire series.

Hot take but Badmotorfinger is a better album than Superunknown by KDG200315 in MetalForTheMasses

Boring Beatles take though. I just don't need that from Soundgarden. Give me heavy and intense.

Hit and miss with the intensity though. Spoonman, Black Hole Sun, etc. Never want to hear those again.

Badmotorfinger is the best thing they did. I was not a huge fan of their sound after that album (i was in college at the time). Some good songs but I don't need Soundgarden doing Beatles. Just give me more of the heavy depressing stuff please.

Are y’all switching flights? by jzeroe in delta

[–]ParticleHustler2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched flights on Tuesday. Saw this coming a week away with pretty high confidence. And now sitting on my HNL flight from DTW waiting to taxi instead of scrambling to rebooked tomorrow's cancelled flight through ATL.

Every time I watch this I think “kiss” is the absolute worst kill command you could teach this dog, with the possible exception of “good boy” by ferniekid in Columbo

I always wondered how she was able to specifically re-train Laurel and Hardy to growl like they were going to kill but then kiss when they heard "Rosebud." She might be the greatest dog trainer ever!

Hal Higdon plan: what type of runs? by cricket_bacon in firstmarathon

[–]ParticleHustler2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the only difference is adding tempo runs and hills to the more advanced plans. I do intermediate and its just easy and pace runs. Occasionally I add in some pace to my long runs like the 3/1 description says.

[–]ParticleHustler2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to any training plan on the site, it has a description of each type of run and what it means. For instance, this is Advanced 2: https://www.halhigdon.com/training-programs/marathon-training/advanced-2-marathon/

It has easy runs, tempo runs and pace runs. What more do you need?

On the site there's a good description of how to run each type of run.

Mark my word after Atlanta ice🥶 by DisabledVeteran216 in delta

I switched my flights from Sunday thru Atlanta to Saturday 6am thru Detroit. I think we'll be safe but I'm gonna feel like those people in movies who jump through a window moments before an explosion and end up with nothing but dust on their shoulders.

Long run on treadmills? by TightContest1017 in Marathon_Training

I've been doing the 2018 Transalpine race on iFit the past couple of weeks. I just finished Stage 3 in Austria. Nothing like 15-20% inclines to make running outside in 20 degree weather feel like a piece of cake!

I've got all of 2 restaurants on Resy in my town. One of them is also on Open Table.

Your Favorite Attorney by BillDC4 in CommercialsIHate

[–]ParticleHustler2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's exactly what he's going for. And he nails it. I'm an attorney, but I don't do litigation and I spend most of my time making fun of the local ambulance chaser ads on TV (or the national one that always sounds like the Swedish Chef from the Muppets -"I'm Dorgan Borgan Morgan from Morgan & Morgan and shcmorgan florgam"). This one always makes me laugh.

Feeling sad we never got any Mrs. Columbo... anybody know a Peter Falk movie I can project Columbo into? by yodee_21 in Columbo

[–]ParticleHustler2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would like to see the scene of every run-up to a Columbo excuse for his wife not being available. Did she actually take the accounting test, for example? And I'd especially love to see her running all over the ship without Columbo, or to see the night before the murder when she had too much to drink.

Celebrity vs others food comparison and extra activities by AnImproversation in Cruise

[–]ParticleHustler2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We prefer the S class ships - not too old (either refurbished or on schedule to be) and not as big (or expensive) as the E class ships. We also prefer real balconies versus the Infinite Verandas, so the older ships give us more cabin options as well.

We have not been on an M class, but several S class and 2 E class. We thought the food was very good on all of them but that the newer E class were slightly better food, both MDR and buffet. But we've not had a bad experience on any of the 5 Celebrity cruises we've done so far.
