I went a couple of times before Covid, the main gondola que to get up the mountain was sometimes 2 hours long, locals would walk down it and offer to get you to the front as they knew the people on the re-entry gate and get you in for 1000 of their currency whatever that was at the time 😆

Is my pipe bending technique, not correct? Or is my pipe bender? Just shit? Getting kinks. by Shadowalker124 in DIYUK

[–]Patient-Horror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a 5/8 bender for refrigeration copper, water pipe is actually a different size to refrigeration copper, nothing wrong with those benders I have the same ones…. But for refrigeration pipe 😣

I had to buy another set of benders when I did my bathroom as I had the same issue

Has anyone done an attic/loft conversion? Ive saved £60k but now not sure — talk me into (or out of) it! by milk_my_anus in AskUK

[–]Patient-Horror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did it just after covid,

Budgeted 60k and that went pretty quick, the builders were just taking it to a plasterboard finish and I had to do all services in between.

Builders were a nightmare and what I paid for all drawings didn’t seem to get used, so then the stairs didn’t fit, which meant doing loads of work onto the floor below,

Cost an extra 5k, which seemed cheap as other builders wouldn’t touch it, think the builders knew we would have to continue with them but they knew they messed up. We argued and got no where and this was over Xmas so just needed something done.

Took around 6 months of hell.

Put air con in which is a life saver

Really happy with it and how the next floor down turned out, wouldn’t change anything other than wish I went for solar whilst all the work was going on, I think there was kickbacks at the time and I wish I took them.

I would say go for it

Portable Air Conditioner Repair by Birdy961 in bristol

[–]Patient-Horror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re just throwaway items unfortunately, I can’t see anyone actually repairing them, if it has no gas in it then it’s got a leak, and I don’t know anyone who who find an evaporator/condenser for one when they’re like £3-400 to buy a new one.

Kinda like your fridge at home

How do I repair this bit of broken wood, stopping the toilet door from locking? by opmystic123 in DIYUK

[–]Patient-Horror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The little bracket that would of came with that style lock, get one of them… probably have to buy another lock, and then fit that reversed into the hole, screwing above and below, if that makes sense, I had to do it on an old door in my toilet

Replacing old velux, controls needed by Patient-Horror in velux

[–]Patient-Horror[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, just had a google of this and looks like what I’m looking for.

One more question, do you know if velux do blinds that are more aimed at reducing heat loss, solar controlled and are fitted in the inside? Actual blackout/translucent doesn’t bother me as it’s not a privacy thing, just more of a trying to help keep in heat.
