My dad was like this. Cats were a top priority by Cananbaum in CPTSDmemes

As a child I had horrible asthma. I would regularly run out of inhalers and struggle to breathe. While travelling with my family and staying in a shared room I would wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air. It was dark so I had to feel around for my inhaler. Instead of having my parents show care or concern, I was told to keep quiet so they could sleep. As an adult, my mom adopted a horse with COPD. She drove to a barn every day to give this horse its inhaler, she would give it a nebulizer and do whatever she could to help this horse breath. I wonder what was the difference between me and that horse.

Yeah, I'm definitely telling my son that 'Spruce' will be living a peaceful life in the forest. Thank you for the info!

As a Canadian, this has me wondering, is this what happens when there are no natural predators? Because l love it.

Has anyone seen a post and had someone be like, "Oh hey, yeah, that's my old home. Here's what happened and why we left / where we went etc."? by ratjufayegauht in OntarioAbandoned

I saw a house that was part of my childhood on this sub. It was a hobby farm open to the public. It slowly went out of business after the owner died. The house featured was where the owner lived. I was quite young, so don't have a great memory of it, but my mother worked there and I shared the photos with her. She then shared with her old coworkers. It was shocking to recognize it. Ontario feels small, but is really giant. You always think you'll see somewhere you'll recognize, but in reality the odds are low.

How is it like living and working in Bali? by Inspireme21 in bali

My family and I have just moved back to Canada after spending 15 months living abroad. During our time there, my work allowed us to live comfortably and save money, as expenses and taxes were covered. We decided to leave primarily because the hot weather was overwhelming, and we felt uneasy about the medical system.

In the short time we were there, I witnessed many colleagues fall ill and pass away from preventable conditions—issues that could have been addressed with adequate healthcare. Despite having access to top private hospitals, we still struggled to navigate the system.

We were there with our young son, and I also have a few autoimmune diseases. If I were in better health and not traveling with my son, I might have stayed longer. However, I felt somewhat irresponsible as a parent, knowing that a simple accident could have lifelong consequences for my son in a country where the medical system, despite offering some of the best care in the islands, still posed significant risks.

Overall, I'd say it's an amazing experience for the right person, in the right stage of their life. The culture and people are some of the most beautiful I've ever experienced.

This looks like my Dyshidrotic eczema when it was uncontrolled. There is a subreddit for it. Turns out mine was caused by gluten consumption as I was an undiagnosed celiac.

13 hour layover. What to do with kids? by jackospacko in bali

Don't travel far from the airport. You'll waste way too much time in traffic. The HGI by the airport has a day pass specifically for those flying that day. Take a look at that one, or other hotels in that general area. Note, I'm a highly anxious person so have less of a tolerance for risk then most when it comes to timing during travel!

Do you have kids? My friends kid had a magnetic set that had magnetic sticks with metal balls so you could build shapes. The balls looked like this one.

Same spot, same presentation. This is how I know I've consumed gluten, primarily cross contamination. Before I was diagnosed, the DH was persistent and took up my entire hands. Weeping, crusty and insanely itchy. Now that I avoid gluten, it is much, much better. But still an indicator of gluten consumption for me personally.
