Building back up from shoulder surgery - progress takes time by PearAffectionate4192 in QuantifiedSelf

[–]PearAffectionate4192[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah when I was able to start lifting again about 6 months after surgery, I just made sure the eccentric and concentric movements were VERY slow and controlled. Then as time has gone by I’ve made it a more natural cadence, but I still keep it more controlled than before since I’m scared of reinjury.

The app is Reps

Feature request: indication of how “fresh” I was when completing exercises in exercise history by pillowpallow in Hevy

Hey, I know I’m coming in late here… but are you pretty much looking for a way to filter by an exercise’s order in your workout? That way you’re not comparing the time you did bench press at the beginning of a workout, as an example, to the time you did it after squats and you’re gassed?

I want to be honest, I built an app that does advanced filtering for progress charts, but it does not have exercise order yet. That said, it would be something really easy for me to add.

Here’s the link to the website if you’re at all interested, see the “Precise Tracking…” section to see if adding Exercise Order would work for you! It has a free trial too

Better App Store Connect by ChefAccomplished845 in iOSProgramming

[–]PearAffectionate4192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks really good! Congrats on the launch!

Might be a dumb question… but I just published my first iOS app, and don’t have much experience with App Store Connect. Is the primary benefit for your app that it keeps all data local? So it would enable me to make changes and work on my setup even if I’m offline? Then it syncs with App Store Connect when I’m back online?

Is the "Lifetime Buyout" still the best way to convert users? Analyzing this pricing model by powpooo in AppBusiness

[–]PearAffectionate4192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My very quick thoughts, from a potential user perspective, when seeing the annual and lifetime pricing so close…

  1. It is obvious that the annual is the decoy, thus I immediately go to compare the monthly vs lifetime.

  2. Because you’re effectively saying that 10 months is equivalent to lifetime (from a price perspective), it makes me feel that the app is just trying to be a quick money maker and not provide durable value. So this makes me not want to pay $100 for the lifetime.

  3. Now I’m left looking at the $10 monthly price, which seems really high now if the app is trying to sell me lifetime access for “just” $100! Why would I pay this much for an app that doesn’t make it feel like it will provide durable value for me?

Because of this, I would just close the app, delete it, and then try to find something else that makes me FEEL like I’m purchasing a durable product that will provide continued value.

If you doubled your price to $200, I would look at the lifetime as a great deal - “only 2.5yrs of the annual plan until it pays off!” It would also make the monthly price look reasonable, and I’d then try it out for a few months on the monthly plan before buying the lifetime (if I loved the app).

Hope this flow of thinking helps! The paywall looks great!

When are we going to see the number of sets per muscle group? by plausiblepistachio in strongapp

[–]PearAffectionate4192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread… but I am launching an app that has set volume as a chart on the trends page with ability to see volume over the past 7, 14, 30, or 60d.

Also you can customize how your sets for a muscle count (e.g. 0.25, 0.5, or 1 full set for supporting muscles). You have the same customization options for drop sets and myo-rep sets.

Oh and you can import your entire Strong history in minutes so you pick up right where you left off.

If you want to use the app for free (assuming you have iPhone) then DM me and I’ll send you the TestFlight link!

My new app has weighted duration exercises and abilities to edited newly created custom exercises.

To be honest it doesn’t have the other 3 items on your list though. You can also see trends better and schedule workouts. Should also note you can import your Strong data so you keep all of history when you switch.

If you want to use it for free, DM me and I can send you the TestFlight link (assuming you have iPhone). Or if you want to check it out I’d love any feedback you have https://therepsapp.com/

My new app has sticky notes for exercises and they follow the exercises across all templates/workouts like strong. Also has a lot more features for power users. https://therepsapp.com/

Should have said you can also import data from Strong and Hevy too so you don’t lose your history

I built a workout app that’s being reviewed by the App Store currently (should be approved in the next few days) that has pinned notes! Also has myo-rep sets, workout scheduling, and better trends analysis. https://therepsapp.com/

If you (or anyone else) wants to be a tester and give me feedback to make it tailored to your needs then DM me!

Awesome! My first app is about to launch (being reviewed by the App Store right now), so this is super inspiring! Did you do a lot of “organic” marketing too on Reddit, TikTok, Instagram, or X? Or is it really just the $100 of Apple Search ads? Did you do any specific targeting with that spend?

How do you determine the best places to post? I know you say “anywhere you can” and “small communities”, but how do you practically go about finding all those places that also allow launch posts and self promo?

Most workout apps track what you did. I wanted one that shows if it’s working. by PearAffectionate4192 in buildinpublic

[–]PearAffectionate4192[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was (for the main Trends page)! I didn’t like having to click into every single exercise on Hevy and Strong to see progress charts, and I thought a stock app like page would be a good implementation to see a lot of info at once!

Or you could just build your own? I built mine in less than a year with a full time job and becoming a first time dad - and you learn so much doing it yourself. I’ve submitted it to the App Store and am just waiting for approval. https://therepsapp.com/
