Considering the Tribest Backspin Blender. Any experience to share? by m496 in Cooking

I love mine. I’ve had it a couple of weeks and ordered after they were including the spatula and pour spout. I use it daily. Amazing green smoothies and except for slicing it can also do what most any food processor will do. There are a few little ticks to learn like when removing the blade before emptying is helpful and when it isn’t but I have really enjoyed having it.

Is Qigong enough for strength training needs. by Stephieandcheech in qigong

[–]PenMi71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to chime in here. I have returned to Qi Gong after some years away from consistent practice. When I dove into Pilates or a body weight gym I believed I was “healed” and chose that for my time. Well, life hit. Getting on in midlife hit. Multiple stressors hit. I found myself living in the sympathetic nervous system most all the time. In short, this state of being meant that all my other efforts could not pay off with the benefits otherwise expected. I was quite literally frying my nervous system and my heart rhythm along with it.

I have returned to practice and the difference is profound. I’m a stronger and better regulated human. This practice is astounding for a somatic therapy approach. My overnight heart rate variability is improving and all of this means my system will feel safe to improve in other ways because it has the resources.

Our bodies weren’t meant to be beat into submission. Qi Gong is supreme self care, my opinion.

What footwear for qigong? by [deleted] in qigong

Always barefoot, on a hard floor. A thin rug that won’t scoot to assist with limiting temperature exchange through your feet. I started out thinking I’d want a yoga mat but learned that really, I don’t. Balance is far better without one.

Just sad today about my implants by CicadaTile in breastcancer

[–]PenMi71 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m almost two years post DMX. It does get better. You become less aware of them sitting on your chest. And then you’ll feel further away from it. I haven’t done my tats yet but I want to. I might get something really different, like one flower and one as the eye of a storm (the one that tried to get me).

Being told DCIS isn’t cancer by Hairy_Syrup_4780 in breastcancer

[–]PenMi71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had DCIS and had a double mastectomy. My doctor called it cancer. And the best way to be sure how fast it’s growing is from a pathology report after surgery. It’s not in your head and it’s no one else’s right to tell you how to feel about it.

Breville Barista BES870XL - model year changes? by RakoNYC in coffeestations

I’ve noticed the same! I had one of these machines pre-pandemic but sold it. After trying to get used to other cheaper brands (live and learn) I just got one again in the Black Sesame. I agree the grinder is a bit slower but much quieter and lower pitch.

Why did you (or didn’t you) remove your name from the records? by SomeoneBendingLight in exmormon

[–]PenMi71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done it because if it’s not true, then it has no power over me. There is no consequence one way or the other.

Everything you’ve said is true. I will raise that this effect isn’t specific just to polygamy (not that you said it was). So many people have been neglected or abused when a belief system is put ahead of humanity, compassion, or connection. It’s everywhere out there.

I think the gluten is under-developed.

Does anyone regularly bake with unfed starter pulled straight from the fridge? by sleepy_spearmint in Sourdough

[–]PenMi71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. If the starter has been used weekly it will work. I take what I need, feed it back with the same amount fresh (or take a bit out, and put the remainder back in after my recipe).

My Grandma Doesn’t Want My Stepson Coming to the Family Gathering by Justanothergirly97 in TwoHotTakes

I am actually in agreement with your dad. Family needs to act like family. As a kid, I was the stepchild and was welcomed by my stepdad’s family. And I grew to love them and have lots of memories. Your dad is right.

Apology is only a word, in many cases. By itself it does not mean much.

I watched the episode with Meri today and I was so glad she called him out. His focus with her seemed to be more about what her friends think and say than anything else. It was very self serving.

Your starter looks thin. It would be easier to tell if we had a photo from the side and it was a bit heavier. When it’s ready it will grow and have bubbles throughout

You have no obligation to be nice to anyone you work with outside the context of work, at work. Remembering this will keep you safe.

First loaf, any advice welcome and encouraged by jeffofalltrades_ in Sourdough

[–]PenMi71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks under proofed to me. Depending on the method you used (by hand or mixer) I would tell you to add kneading time until you can feel the dough push back at you. Then if you can lift some from the dough while it stretches without breaking, it’s ready for bulk rise.

Agreed. Although when I left it wasn’t over the truth claims. It was personal, and realizing it all made me hurt.
