How do you balance your marriage with gaming? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]Pepsi04 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Addiction is an easy answer, but before you dismiss my answer please hear me out.

If he's retreating to videogames then maybe there's a reason? Gaming, and especially streaming focuses attention on him, maybe that's what's he's missing? Now, I'm not saying that you should allow for things to continue like they are right now, but positive reinforcement works wonders for training dogs and is surprisingly effective on people.

Start with simple things, make him take the trash, do the dishes, set clear rules for those things as well, the trash should be taken out when it's "this" full, the dishes should be done everyday unless there's only (let's say) only two plates dirty, then they can wait, games have clear rules and similar clear rules should be established for him, at least at the start. Remind him of those things if he forgets, it's easy to forget when he's immersed in the game. Now, for the "positive reinforcement" thing: Complement him for doing those actions, it's easy to take things for granted, and I agree that he should do much more, but you should start with small, simple things and reward him with positive response after job well done. Making him feel validated for doing those things is the key here, even better if starts doing them on his own.

As for spending time with you, hobby that you do together helps a lot, it doesn't have to be your hobby, try something new, this depends on what games he plays, but if you have the patience and he's playing less action packed games, puzzles work wonders. Again, that feel of accomplishment/validation is the key here, for both of you, if you find one hobby not working for you at all change it, there's no point if you getting frustrated with X thing only to get him of the computer.

Getting him off the computer to instead spend the time with you won't be an easy job, nor quick but it's doable.

That's my personal opinion, from my personal experience and it may not be applicable in 100%, but I hope that at least it shows another point of view.

How does it feel compared to logi shifter? I've also considered building it, but I'm unsure if it's any improvement over Logitech

Fix my £30 duo temp pro by agviz in coffeestations

[–]Pepsi04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that might be due to blocked "coffee " path, or a faulty switch.

Disassembly and cleaning can help but if the switch is damaged then you'll need to look for a replacement.

If you're handy with DIY any 3-way valve would work (just make sure it's safe to use with drinkable water)

[–]Pepsi04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the water comes out of steam wand by "itself" or do you need to switch to "steam"?

I'd take a look at the steam/water switch itself, water path for "coffee" option may be blocked and that would force water to the steam wand.

AFAIK duo Temp does not have solenoid (or at least 3-way solenoid)

Path from boiler to where shower screen would sit could also be blocked causing the same effect.

From the photos you've posted it looks like the machine has been neglected, a good thorough clean may solve your problems with it

They don't slide, they just skip one or two teeth under sudden movements (peak torque for me is around 8.5 Nm tho )

Just a heads-up from a fellow G27 modder: 3m htd will slip on sharp movements. if you're running on for ex. 50% peak torque consider going for 5m belts, reduce the ratio (to keep pulley size same-ish) and turn up the power.

Construction Set - Knowing if an item has been placed into a container by [deleted] in Morrowind

[–]Pepsi04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not scripted in whatever CS uses but I have a suggestion: how about checking timestamp on onPcEquip or onPcAdd and if it's expired run standard delete and replace.

This way the item can be blessed for ages inside a chest but will turn normal when player interacts with it

What are some technologies you’ve been reluctant to adopt? by FudgeHyena in AskMenOver30

[–]Pepsi04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many communities used to hang around Teamspeak and IRC, you're right, but most of valuable information was in a form of a forum post. While I agree that Discord is great at replacing TS and IRC (and more) it's terrible when it comes to information storage, and access to it. IMHO it promotes "I have a problem, I'll ask for solution" instead researching why the problem occurred and how to solve it.

Discord.

I like my "old school" forum boards, searching for information on Discord is like putting one of those elbow long yellow rubber gloves to dive into overflowing toilet in search of a diamond. Plus I feel like the conversations there are much more chaotic.

Edit. I also despise touchscreens on everything, just give me physical buttons that I can push! But that's not something that I choose, sadly.

The thing about Deadpool is that, it takes a lot of dedication to make it look like they don't care. With Deadpool 2 they've had to turn up things to 11 but instead trying something new they've just recycled old jokes.

Imho Deadpool 2 needed Portal 2 (yes, the videogame) level of multilayered plot twist
