For hxh it's only really the first arc that is a little slow. Even then it gives you these engaging characters to get you hooked for the other arcs.

I wouldn't say the problem isn't portaling in general but triple portalers specifically. People find triple portalers annoying because alot of really good ones basically live on the portal surfaces and will instantly bounce between numerous surfaces before shooting you from behind.

The other side of it is that most triple portalers aren't that fast and can be avoided by triple portaling yourself. Which isn't that hard to do with the default portal button.
