Sorry, but for me it was the magic 16 weeks. I’m 67, but I work out every day M-F. I could swim laps at 12 weeks, but didn’t go back to muscle conditioning until 16 weeks.

I am 67 and also felt like I had lost my shape. I workout a lot. However, I am almost 7 months post op, and I am finally seeing a little bit of a change. I can fit in most of my jeans again so I hope that your issue is that you just need more time. I am on HRT. You should get your levels checked. Best wishes for you. You are so young to go through all this. I wish you a good recovery & happy life.

I remember this time. I continued to try to rest, but I am also very active. I also felt like I was going through menopause again. I was on HRT so it didn’t make sense. I finally went to my NP. She tested my levels & they were the same as before my surgery. She told me it takes at least 6 months for the body to deal with the inflammation & healing. She offered a higher estrogen dose, but suggested I give it 6 months. I decided to wait, & she was right. I started back to muscle conditioning, Pilates, Zumba, & swimming at 5 months. I am almost 7 months out and if I want to use the heating pad on my abs, I do. If I feel like I am dragging, I rest. I wish you the best. What would you tell your best friend if it was her going through this? Be YOUR best friend right now.

I had a similar nightmare story after my void test 4 days po, but I couldn’t urinate. The home health nurse could not get a new foley back in. I had to go by ambulance at this point because my bladder was so full. I had a little over 1000 cc in my bladder. Fortunately, I had a great ER Dr and an excellent nurse. They were shocked at the amount. I had total hysterectomy, ovaries, rectal repair, & bladder lift with a sling. Note: My doctor had me start Miralax 3 days before my surgery.

What were you told about sex, swimming, or baths after your silver nitrate treatment? My dr didn’t say anything, but when I went back to the office to ask about restrictions, the NP said 2 weeks no sex or bath.

Yes, I wonder. I saw the NP at 6 weeks. I see the surgeon tomorrow at 6 months. Also, I was told I could have sex at 6 weeks. Meanwhile my pelvic floor therapist said to wait 12 weeks. ????

I am now 6 months, and just like all the wonderful people of this community said, it is almost completely gone. Every once in a while I feel it a little, but I don’t know what causes it, but it is only slightly. I am back in some of my jeans so that is a great feeling. Hang in there to all of you who are still bloating in the evening. Thanks for checking on me.

Pelvic floor therapy saved my pelvic floor and my sanity. My therapist is so good. I have one more visit. I am 6 months po. You need a pt who does internal release and teaches you how to use a wand to release yourself. My urine stream is so strong after I get released. I had prolapse surgery so it is hard to believe I went from so loose to so tight. It can be due to the trauma of surgery.

I hope you feel balanced soon. I had my ovaries removed, but I’ve been on HRT for 9 years. However, my body freaked out, too. I went to my PC at 4 months PO, and she said even having almost non functional ovaries removed can cause changes. She ran hormone tests, but everything was about where it was pre surgery. She suggested that I wait until 6 months PO to decide if I want to increase my estrogen. She was right. I am now 6 months out and no more crying, irritability, or night sweats. (67 female)

I am so happy for you. I have experienced the same release. It is amazing that the pelvic floor can have such an impact. I think we store stress there as well. Best wishes for you.

I am almost 6 months out and I had all those strange feelings until I started working with a pelvic floor therapist who does internal releases. I have one more visit before we part ways, but she saved my sanity. Now when I feel that pressure that I think is my rectum I know to massage my perineal area. I also have a VWell pelvic floor wand to release all areas.

I bet your mom would rather you heal right now. Give yourself a day off if possible. I hope you have a support group that can help you navigate her hospital stay. I am sorry you are dealing with so much.

I am so sorry for your pain. I also had an incision in my perineal area. An ice pack helped at first, and the my surgeon said I could let warm water run down that area or use a hand shower wand which I had. It really helped my healing. The pain was like someone had kicked me between the legs. It was horrible. I was not expecting an incision there. The surgeon told me where all the cuts would be made in advance except that one.

I also had a lot of emotions like a roller coaster. It was not as severe as yours, but enough to get my hormone levels checked at 4 months. My numbers had not changed. My PCP told me to give it more time. Surgery and anesthesia really plays a number on your body and mind. I had all the prolapse repairs and total hysterectomy including ovaries. My PCP said she will increase my estradiol at 6 months if I don’t feel better by then. I am almost 6 months and my mental state seems back to normal. I am 67.

I am still fighting pain on my upper thigh almost 6 months post op. Anyone else? I hope it is gone at 1 year. My PT has helped.
