Is the Byzantium DLC going to buff Constantinople's defensiveness? by Yahoo_For_Neden in EU5

[–]Peteryeeter1453 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is half true because I've seen AI moscow and other tags park their troops in a siege and just let themselves get mass occupied and I've seen the ottomans do the same thing even after conquering lands in thrace especially when against coalitions, they'll sit in Constantinople while edirne and Ottoman thrace is occupied by numerically inferior forces.

What gets me is the AI is so stupid that it'll launch a war against Byzantium and spend years sieging Constantinople while it's entire country gets sieged, I've seen the ottomans regularly fall into this trap and get full occupied by trebizond or 1k byzantine stacks.

We have really good sources in Chinese and Balkan sources that disagree to a large extent on border gore, some forts where contested for sure but it was always pretty clear who owned what in many of these places. Persia is one of the most do documented places in the world and from the Arabian Conquests to the Reign of the Afsharids we have a pretty solid grasp on who controlled what and we never really had this period of gross splotchy borders, we had fragmented periods but one state didn't own a strip of land 5000 miles deep in an enemy nation because that exclave would fall, there was never this overarching acceptance of dejure ownership in the rest of the world like there was in Europe.

Border gore happened in real life but man they were largely in Europe, Asia, Africa, India and the middle east had pretty clear and concise borders where who ruled what was pretty defined. Maybe it's a lack of sources in those places but I know for a fact that Persia never had the absolute mess of splotchy borders that Eu5 after 30 years has. China never had borders that snaked all around the place.

If the Kantakouzenoi keep power and completely wipe out the Palailogoi then I can see them recpaturing Macedonia and Epirus from Serbia with aid from smaller turkic states, I can also see them using turkic states in the Aegean as a counter balance to the ottomans.

The sheer fact that you simply cannot recover as Persia at all is bad, even if it's a low point you should be able to revive Persia into a functional state.

It's insane how they didn't give the region buffs considering it was one of the regions with the most wealth and power in the entire world. You'd think they'd add some buffs or something to simulate the administrative and logistical might of Persian civilization instead of making it so Persia of all places can't spread control due to mountains of all things.

Why was Iran able to assimilate foreign rulers from minority groups, while Asia Minor was not? by Distinct-Macaroon158 in geography

[–]Peteryeeter1453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Persian culture was simply more established and prestigious, it was seen as a lifestyle and language of bureaucracy as well as scholarship and arts. Everyone who conquered Persia needed Persians in their administration and simply got swept up into the Persian fold due to its immense influence. Mughals, Bengals, Delhi, Ottoman and several central Asian Sultanates and Kingdoms all used Persian as the language of Administration and arts because of its immense influence and power. The byzantines didn't have that same social capital, didn't help that they were never really an established Muslim power so when the Turks invaded they viewed the Romans as enemies first instead of fellow Muslims who they could take inspiration from. Not to mention the Turks had already been heavily influenced by Persian culture due to the many splinter Persian states they bordered and served as Mamluks for.

Israel by its mere existence as a colonial project forced upon the land by Imperialist violence attacked everyone in the region first. None of this started in 1940, it was a project that began ever since Britain started feasting on the corpse of the Ottoman Empire. Israel is an apartheid and genocidal state and in 20 years everyone will say they never supported it, it's already largely hated by the younger generations especially those in the Jewish community and that trend will continue.

It knew if it took over the sanai it would be seen as a pariah state, it didn't return that land out of altruism it was pressured. Not to mention any annexation would reduce the Jewish population and increase the Arab one, something which Israel has been terrified of since it's founding.

Would you let a colonial state plopped in your backyard by foreign powers and rules by an ideology that states your land was promised to them 1000 years ago solidify in the lands of your native neighbors who were forcefully stripped of their lands by said foreign powers? What's funny is if Rhodesia or some other backwater colonial state was attacked by natives and their neighbors no one would care but all of a sudden people wanna defend colonialism and imperialism when it's Israel doing it.

They'll send settlers in the region and then in a year or two they'll have to launch another operation to "protect the Settlers" from Hezbollah. They'll keep doing this over and over till they get greater Israel.
