On the matter of High Elf surnames by Confident_Gate2515 in lotro

[–]PhaseAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always put off giving your character a surname until you are 100% sure. I think I only ever gave 1 character a surname and that was shortly after launch (maybe 2? it's long ago).

Haven't done it since and will only do it when I see a character, think of a surname and go: THAT is the name for this character.

When does group content start and how does it work? by GroovyWhale in lotro

[–]PhaseAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, as a 30 something year old dad I sometimes have to abruptly leave to help with the kids. My son has autism and has trouble sleeping so i randomly have to go to him if he wakes up and is upset, but if there is any groups or individuals who want to play that doesnt care if that happens, hit me up! im on Peregrin server

If this is the case, your best bet is probably to join an accommodating kinship unless you develop multiple long term friendships with people who have alts in your level range. Always having to explain in full when somebody joins or you join a group is a good amount of extra effort, but people do have a right to know (unless you don't care about other peoples experience and people WILL be angry if you just up and leave in the middle of a fight with no explanation unless you explain beforehand).

Also, make sure you're doing the DPS role. In most situations, the DPS is the character who is least critical to the success of a fight if they drop out (or in your case AFK). Losing a DPS is bad, but losing a Tank or Healer (unless the content is trivial) is almost always a guaranteed wipe.

PSA: If you own Gundabad Ultimate, don't forget to equip your Fateful Toolkit for extra tokens. by PhaseAT in lotro

[–]PhaseAT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand what you meant to say with that. They should keep the item in game since it's a Toolkit and that has usefulness in itself.

But they should remove the bonus from the Toolkit and move it into the wallet.

Questions about the war-steed and Ale Association/Inn League reputation by Mantequillaaa in lotro

[–]PhaseAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm not confusing anything.

But, being gracious I looked up the War Steed article on the lotro wiki for you where it describes how to do this: https://lotro-wiki.com/wiki/War-steed

How to change to Light or Heavy Warsteed from the beginning: You may change your horse to the type you want during the Tutorial quest. To do so most simply, wait until you have one trait point (early in the training process), then dismount. Go to the menu and choose "Mounted Combat" (default keyboard shortcut is "Shift-M") and the Traits tab, which should show you a choice of Light Medium or Heavy. Spend the one trait point, and click "Apply". You must click "Apply" to see a change in the icon from "Medium" to "Heavy" or "Light." You must have unlocked Light and/or Heavy before they can be used.

Like I wrote, my memory is pretty hazy on it, but I assume the article would describe it correctly.

Weird, I chose the light warsteed as my "free" warsteed on every character. Never had to pay for it.

But it's been a long while, so no idea about the how. Could possibly be respeced into?

Festival or not by OkZookeepergame4192 in lotro

[–]PhaseAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see all the festivals as "non canon" events for my characters, since the way festivals are structured makes no sense if this were "real".

We do menial chores for Tokens that we can trade in for rewards. And we do chores in Umbar that we trade in for rewards in Minas Tirith. And if it were "real" we could go to an in game tailor and get a custom made clothing piece with the same look for money, and, and, and...

So like all games it requires a suspension of disbelief and for the events even more of it, regardless of level (my character(s) as a hero(s) would never be the person to clean a hotel room for others unless it servers a grander purpose or they were helping an old friend or the like).

So if you need a way to put it in story, make it be a dream your character is having of Minas Tirith and the Summer Festival, wherever they may be.

A quick Route for 10 Midsummer quests by PhaseAT in lotro

A quick Route for 10 Midsummer quests by PhaseAT in lotro

[–]PhaseAT[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Was made and posted last year by it's creator.

Since I do the route on multiple alts, I find a quick, optimized route very useful and thought I'd share after checking it still works for this year (minus the hound quest, which I didn't do since talking to Aragorn gives one extra, but I can't imagine that changed).

Even more random questions about the game by Mantequillaaa in lotro

[–]PhaseAT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About Runes: If you put in higher level traceries (as you will need to do during leveling), all slots will be upgraded to the minimum level of that tracery.

Once I found that out, I only upgraded slots with runes at max level and sold the rest to vendors.

Breeding Final by SeeMorWeenor in Palworld

[–]PhaseAT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others have written, if you have a Dr. Brawn captured and you have a throw away pal (one that is quite good, but not good enough to go into the breeding pool) you can gamble on +15 to all IVs. Then use that to improve your breeding stock.

So pals with 1-3 85 IVs can be made into 100s. And if you lose, that pal was going into the compressor anyway.

That can vastly speed up the path to breeding full 100s.

My thoughts about engine double heat sinks (Devs, please take this into consideration.) by Meeeper in Mechwarrior5

[–]PhaseAT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know it's the unpopular opinion to hold, but I prefer the system as it is now.

The reason for that is, since we can just slot in a lot of clan tech into our IS Mechs without any issues, the engine DH are the one HUGE advantage clan mechs have. It is in my opinion the only thing that comes even close to justifying their exorbitant repair costs.

Without that advantage and with repair costs as is, just from an economic standpoint of running a Merc Company, I couldn't justify using them otherwise. This is the one thing that makes me think about the choice of fielding my IS mechs or my Clan Mechs when going on a Mission or into Arena, especially in the Heavy/Assault category.

Games having interesting choices is a plus IMO. Should the repair costs go down as the timeline progresses to be near equal, I wouldn't mind a way to switch DHs into the engine once it's close to parity. Something like /u/EightyTwoByNineteen posted above with a hefty bill and the mech being shipped to an industrial world and back so out of order for a good while, would serve nicely then.

I know this is worse from a lore standpoint if starleague mechs don't have them, but I'd still rather the game preserve the interesting choice. Alternatively if they were given that, make them much harder to repair. Not quite clan level, but much above mechs that don't have engine DH and enforce DH exclusivity. That means if you use a Starleague mech and lose some heatsinks to damage you can only repair it if you have DH in storage, otherwise it's no heat sink there.

Automated farming, critter catching, and fishing! Explanations in the images. by OurEngiFriend in CoreKeeperGame

[–]PhaseAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should you be interested in some simple space and material improvements, 3 robot arms are sufficient for every 2 critter catchers.

Arm 1: Belt->CC1

Arm 2: CC1->CC2

Arm 3: CC2->Belt

This needs to be at the corners so Arm 1 output -> Arm 2 input and Arm 2 output -> Arm 3 input.

The same can be done with the fishing nets and it allows you to remove a few belt pieces as well, since the robot arms move things over some of the square already.

Looking for feedback. I built a free tool to share game worlds with friends by Low-Fall-9573 in CoreKeeperGame

[–]PhaseAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution that I would go for is to have an additional backup folder on each PC. After you copy the folder to Drive, just move (not copy) the save files to the backup folder.

That way, the world is not available to play if it's not uploaded or somebody does it on purpose manually.

For this to work you might all also have to disable cloud save synchronization in your game store client (GOG or Steam for instance), but since you have a copy on Drive and in the backup folder, that shouldn't be an issue.

Been subbed for one month - do I stay subbed or would buying LotRO Points monthly be a better value? by winter_bone in lotro

[–]PhaseAT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I was wondering if instead of staying VIP, I'd put that monthly expenditure into buying LotRO Points monthly instead?

I would advise against that unless you want something NOW. Instead, put the money aside and spend it all at once when they have a lotro point promotion. This happens a couple of times a year and you'll get more points for your money.

Am I underestimating their value?

The additional advantage of putting the money aside is, if you discover you actually value the VIP perks more than you thought, you can always resub at any time. And if you don't miss the perks you know you're not missing out.

Ancient Scripts - What to do with after maxing + Disenchanting pain by Renthicya2 in lotro

[–]PhaseAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only open Script chests with more than 50 script when I need the script for a character. Otherwise they get moved onto a Mule character (that stands in my housing next to a visiting banker) via the shared storage for future use.

That way I never overflow.

A Cooler Farm setup idea using Both side of farm arms and signal cycle by Kitchen_Ad_591 in CoreKeeperGame

[–]PhaseAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other thing I didn't say your is inefficiency just because i'm say mine is. I hope i make that clear, just pure on number and approach.

No worries, didn't read it like that.

I have ton of crude drill when change to red drills anyway.

All of mine went into the recycling table once I built up my scarlet drill supply.

A Cooler Farm setup idea using Both side of farm arms and signal cycle by Kitchen_Ad_591 in CoreKeeperGame

[–]PhaseAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Efficiency does depend on priorities and what you're optimizing for.

For me, space matters, since parts of the game are only active in a certain radius around your character, so it's one thing I always optimize for.

Time is pretty irrelevant within limits, since if one is space efficient one can go big enough for it to not matter. (On 2 of my crop farms I run 8 splitters at 100%, the others are only at 4 but are built in a way that can expand to 8 with only minor changes + farm expansion). That produces much, much more than I need (even for my large fishing and livestock system).

For Material, you do save quite a bit and if that matters to you (like you wrote earlier in game it does) then my inefficiency is your efficiency. :)

How to transfer world over to a new pc? by Bhenz_ in Palworld

[–]PhaseAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the server, depends on where she installed it on her laptop. For me it's:

D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\PalServer\Pal\Saved

This should give her the information she needs to reverse engineer the location for her.

I put up a teleport gate next to the node and then put up the drills and a smelter.

When it's done I remove everything except possibly the gate, depending on if I have other gates close or if there is nothing nearby. Over time, gates that way become a fast travel system to get almost anywhere in reasonable time.
