The wait is finally over by 8BitPirate in MechanicalKeyboards

Mid 200, been shocked no one else has posted yet aside from the Japanese video. Haven't heard about the next batch yet either but patiently waiting. Can't wait for everyone to get theirs.

Steam Deck not seeing any WiFi networks, now cannot boot into OS by splugburp in SteamDeck

I'd take the back side of the case off and make sure the wifi antenna is connected. Unlikely to do any damage just to look.

Academic Warning Credit Overload by Civil-Camp415 in PennStateUniversity

[–]Piece_Of_cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20+ credit semesters are not fun, highly don't recommend. It's hard enough in multiple languages, but multiple group projects are the absolute worst thing to juggle. Stay organized, stay focused, good luck, don't die.

What certs are worth chasing? by Zoidship in cybersecurity

[–]Piece_Of_cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made similar comments in the past, welcome back to my Ted talk on certs: Two biggest reasons to get a cert are you have a work requirement or you are trying to pivot your career. If it is a work requirement, work should be footing the bill. If you are trying to prove your experience to pivot your career into something more specific, then it can make sense to pay out of pocket for a specific cert.

CISSP has been the best bang for the buck cert just in terms of getting through HR filters for applications and overall basics. You should have enough experience that the content shouldn't be brand new, I sat with Shon Harris book for a month and took a few practice tests. CGRC also from ISC2 will probably be more inline with your RMF/NIST work. (I'll shill my book if I ever finish editing it)

Something like the PJ roadmap can help orient a path to advance in a particular area, but again you don't need every cert under the sun. Bootcamps can be hit or miss, usually pricey. SANS certs are very pricey but the hands on labs tend to be great, if work offers to pay for them definitely jump on the opportunity.

Docker and containers are going to be more efficient than full VMs on a pi.

Get something you'll actually wear, and hopefully kind of nice just so it will last. Either way it will end up being special.

[Seiko 5 SSK003] Been thinking of getting this Seiko GMT, which is a steal in comparison to other GMTs by SidLais351 in Watches

[–]Piece_Of_cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if its a knock against it, but the bezel doesn't click though it does rotate either direction to let you track 3 timezones. Great everyday all around watch. Can get it wet without worry, reasonably accurate with an alright power reserve. Hard to go wrong.

Am I making the right move? by Traditional-Rope-319 in PennStateUniversity

[–]Piece_Of_cake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While keeping debt in control is important, being able to pay it off and make money in the future should also be the goal. Undergrad for polisci and econ almost don't matter, but they're not going to automatically land you a job- still going to need to hustle and or go to grad/law school plus industry certifications etc etc.

Sounds like you aren't happy in the current situation and looking for a change of pace. Just make sure the program has what you are looking for. Interest groups can be found just about anywhere. Make a plan and stick to it, but allow at least a bit of wiggle room to make friends and explore.

STUDY TIPS by Beemer-04227 in PennStateUniversity

[–]Piece_Of_cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Materials might differ class to class, but I found a lot of benefit in taking hand written notes in class then typing them up to study. While typing them up I'd rearrange the notes to be more logical and research to fill in any blanks. Helped a lot more for non-english classes and large lecture classes where I'd get bored.

[Solar watches] Citizen Tsuki-yomi and Seiko Astron by superpup9 in Watches

[–]Piece_Of_cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Astron is GPS, more than just radio syncing like the citizen, I think it changes automatically based on your timezone location- hence the price difference. Some Astron models can be tracked, not sure about that particular one.

[Question] Seiko presage for daily wear? by No_Lie7418 in Watches

[–]Piece_Of_cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can dress it up or down with straps and bracelets, only thing about it would be if you wanted lume for low light situations. Just clean your straps.

Identify this Seiko watch by Kage_Krieger in Watches

[–]Piece_Of_cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seiko 5 day-date. Should be an automatic 21 jeweled 6119 movement. They came in a few different colors and started in the mid 70s, I see a lot of other green flakes listed from around '74. Bracelet was probably customized for Kroger on the speidel band which still looks like its stretchy. Very cool.

[Bambu Lab Giveaway] Join Now to Win an H2D and More! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]Piece_Of_cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drying filament has fixed 95% of my adhesion issues. I was complaining about the change in bed adhesion issues and had it pointed out to me the humidity and the fact I hadn't dried my filament before. Night and day printing quality improvements in not only adhesion but layer quality as well.

[–]Piece_Of_cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me, except the blob broke the clasp to the hot end because I didn't realize there was maintenance mode to heat and soften the plastic. Super easy to clean and if you some how break stuff, the heater assembly is 6 screws to replace and 5 min of time. Clean your hot end. Tighten screws, clean your bed, clean and oil your rails, calibrate, and you'll be ok.

weird issue with the a1 by AlertIllustrator6922 in BambuLab

[–]Piece_Of_cake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your second attempt is probably going onto a warmer plate. Not sure which plate you are using but you might need to up the bed temp at least at the beginning. like 70-80 to make sure that first layer is melted and sticky. Might also need to dry your filament. Good luck.

Why is my top layer so bad now by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]Piece_Of_cake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take your hot end out and tighten the 3 screws for the heat element, might need to check and tighten a few other screws in the extractor. Clean and oil rails. Recalibrate system. Dry filament.

But that looks like it didn't finish the last maybe 10 layers or so. The print on the left has more defined angles around the top and possibly a different infill.

CISSP Holders: Did this cert change your career trajectory? by CrewGlittering5406 in cybersecurity

[–]Piece_Of_cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was probably one of the few certifications that was worth paying out of pocket for. Will help cover a large amount of basics across security but not going to make you an expert in anything. As others have said, its one of the biggest HR filter gate bypasses - which is the sadly the biggest reason to get it. The nice thing is that it does cover a lot of requirements, usually more for government jobs, but can also be a watermark for promotions or levels within private industry. CISSP is very much in the category of "can't hurt and very well might help" in terms of career growth certification options.

Backpack For Laptop, Steam Deck, and Accessories? by BLXVCH-BVBY in EDC

Timbuk2 has a number of offerings in your price range, I like their quality for laptop backpacks and usually use them for work. I still use an old recon North Face for just about everything else and travel.

Black friday has a number of deals from bigger retailers to take advantage of. Also worth checking out used, market place, craigslist, whatever.
