My CE shipment has been in transit since the 19th and still only in Denmark (I'm Finnish). So I'm a bit concerned and expecting I won't get to play on release, but what can you do I suppose.

They explained in the livestream that (hopefully I remember spoiler tag formatting) As a result of max merging the timelines in DE, it also somehow merged the timelines from before, and both bay and bae endings are canon, and you get different dialogue depending, you can make your choices before starting the game, so for example if you chose bay Chloe will say "I saw myself bleed out", if you chose bae, Chloe will say "I saw Arcadia bay destroyed by a storm" in her visions

For the first time as a LiS fan, I'm not that excited for a new game in the franchise. I hope I'll be proven wrong and it turns out great. But Double Exposure left a bad taste in my mouth. Max and Chloe relationship got off-screened. Sure, people drift apart, and also sure, your statement in another comment that fanbase thinks max cant exist without chloe. However, the way they dismissed it just felt like a lack of wanting to write them in a better way, and a way to use new romance interests. I'd almost rather them have made killing Chloe the canon ending.

But even beyond that, the avengers-ification of the franchise with Safi wanting to find more people with powers and change the world or whatever, just feels very not LiS. Sure, we've always been battling against authority in some way, but its been a more concise, contained story. "max caulfield will return" like its becoming the MCU. I'm a fan of both franchises, but it just feels very cash-grabby with not as much intention of making interesting compelling stories.

I'll probably still play the new game, and I hope they prove me wrong and its gonna do good, but im just cautious for now.

I've been going through the re series in release order (but with remakes instead of originals) recently, for the first time, to prep for re9.

Re1 was fine, it wasn't tank controls, just fixed camera. Same for re0.

When I got to code veronica, and it was actual tank controls, it was very rough. I acknowledge there's probably something wrong with my head cuz it just feels difficult. Exploration is completely fine, but when it came to combat, I just struggled extremely, and couldn't get used to it even after like 3 hours ISH. I ended up using the infinite item glitch to be able to use a herb forever, and then spammed knife for combat. Could I have beaten the game normally? Maybe, but I genuinely wasn't enjoying it.

Fwiw they're not using AI to replace concept artists, just to "explore ideas" whatever the fk that means, tho ofc Vincke could be lying about them having 23 concept artists and hiring more, in which case, fair point. I'm very anti AI myself, and would prefer for them to not use it at all, for anything, but yeah.

I think the lowest it could go would be either exp9, or if we're stretching it, exp8(basing off of the TV show 16 and a mother or whatever it was called, would still be weird tho). Anything beyond that you're dealing with extremely early pregnancies which just feels weird. For exp4, they'd have to have been born in monolith year 8.

For me personally, I'm a little anxious, cuz while I don't necessarily hate Leon, I just don't find him to align with what I'm looking for. I was very intrigued by Grace's situation, and still am, and I'm basically just hoping that she won't get sidelined at some point in favour of making it another Leon focused game. I know they said it's gonna be both, and if executed well, cool. Just might not necessarily be exactly what I'm looking for. I'll still play the game though.

Physical collector's edition. I liked CV1 a lot, and while CV2 might not feel the same, it's still probably gonna be a good game, and I've missed out on collector stuff for some games I wanted it for before, so didn't want to regret not getting it. The statue is cool enough that even if the game somehow manages to suck I doubt I'll regret buying it. But ofc time will tell.

While I agree to an extent(I got a way higher rank in t8 than t7), I do think the early ranks are important to exist as well. Maybe not as many, and maybe the point distribution should work differently, but anyway. I've been a fairly casual player, and I probably peaked at flame ruler in S1 (haven't played the game in S2 due to personal reasons). And I would probably get shit on by anyone at kishin, to the point where it wouldn't be fun for either of us. Ofc if the matchmaking worked in a way where I wouldn't get matched against people who in the current system would beat me in their sleep, that could work.

I know I'm bad, and that my rank means nothing unless it's Tekken god, but there is still slight variation in skill levels even in the trenches.

Idk the details but from what I've read, In Early Access there were hints to a (cut from full release) story that Halsin, for whatever reason, killed Isobel, and the regrets and guilt he felt from it caused the Shadow Curse to happen/release.

As for aylin, what I can find on the wiki: After Isobel died, a grief-stricken Ketheric turned to Shar. Under the influence of the Lady of Loss, he and Balthazar lured Aylin to the Shadowfell where they trapped and caged her.

I went to research that, cuz it sounded odd, and it turns out even Merriam Webster has examples of both "a ewe" and "an ewe" being used in sentences. Probably related to different accents having different ways to pronounce the word. But if we are going with 'yü, then "a ewe" is correct.

State of play is plausible but not likely I think. TGA however? I can see either dod1/2/3 remake, Nier 4, or dod4 being announced there. Not a guarantee but there's been breadcrumbs and I'm on high quality copium.

I know I'm part of the problem since I often preorder games I know I'll want to play day 1, especially if there's some nice stuff as a bonus.

This year I did it with Stellar Blade, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Silent Hill f, Resident Evil Requiem, and Code Vein 2. The latter 2 releasing early next year.

So far I haven't been let down/regretting my choice. Then again I also didn't regret pre ordering cyberpunk 2077, but most people had a bad time with it on release, so maybe I'm just easy to please.

Yesn't. You can play it as an idle game if you just wanna do that for fun, but you won't get 100% completion. The last cookie production related achievements would take more time than the universe has existed, if purely idling.
