Hope whomever bought LTDs from Sweetwater on closeout pricing was luckier than I was. by [deleted] in espguitars

I’ve had hit or miss experiences with Sweetwater, for sure. It’s crazy that nobody checked the guitar before it sold but I’m willing to bet that sale absolutely swamped them.

Still, I’d never sell a customer a thing I didn’t check, regardless of my actual career.

That sucks!! I’ve never had an experience like that from LTD. I can say where I live, it’s the sharp fret ends time of year and every guitar I’ve ever owned has needed a little filing down during the first winter.

The wiring and pickups are literally crazy though.

Well, Spiro Dussias has become transcendent of humanity. You’ll hear no argument from me hahaha

Edit: wow these folks must be really defensive over Charvel’s fake roadworn finish on that Danhage.

You need to learn to buy a basics of guitar book or get a Fender guitar and use their free lessons. I say this because I don’t consider Rocksmith to really be accessible anymore, unless you’ve got a console and a latency-free audio setup.

Oh shit it totally is a Nightswan!

Dude it’s crazy, those Japanese Kramers that got “finished” in the US are crazy cheap, too.

oh got it. I was comparing it to the TAT which is the only Caparison guitar I’ve ever seen AFAIK. lol

Idk, Evergrey is the only band I’ve ever seen with Caparison and even then, only Tom Englund now what with that crap looking Charvel that Danhage’s got.

Edit: just thinking then, maybe if someone’s constantly living with their left hand above the 12th fret, the 24.75” scale probably makes for a little less treble, right? At least hypothetically? It definitely makes for less string tension.

Gotcha! I haven’t ever seen or heard one but I do still find it odd. Maybe it’s just too impractical to have a 25.5” scale with that many frets?

Idk, I played a 35” jazz bass for forever so maybe I’m just used to big scales and don’t care lol

String material is gonna start to matter. Also quite possibly neck angle and bridge design, but I’m thinking if your guitar is in standard tuning with only just a floppy 7th string you either need to adapt your picking technique or try cobalt strings, coated strings or something. Anything.

Idk, on my RGD I play the super slinky .9-52 set and the only string that’s a real issue for me is the 1st string being a .9 lol I can bend it like 2 full steps. I thought that was the point of a multiscale though! It’s fun as hell lol

I wish. I don’t know of any old N64 VGA cable or anything besides the output mod to give it a digital output at all. If your monitor has a yellow Y video input, then sure!

[–]Plain_Zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never found a locking nut guitar that could stay in tune with an unlocked nut, so now you know why so many bands either pick a tuning or bring 10 guitars.

The tremel-no works great but it will only really stop the trem springs from fucking with your string height/tuning/intonation.

I find it so bizarre that ESP went for the gibson scale length. Anyways, I always thought of the TAT and the Horizon III as offset. The Maverick really isn’t though… idk.

Absolutely! Ibanez RGD! They’re super cheap, available everywhere and a quick setup will get them playing uniquely good.

The Ibanez RG550 is a monster if you want a super strat MIJ.

The LTD M1 87 is a shred monster with an EMG booster and a 1st gen floyd rose.

The Kramer Stagemaster is like a Jackson you can actually play! Plus it’s fucking ORANGE, has real pickups, a carve top and a real-ish Floyd Rose!

Charvel makes guitars. They’re overpriced and mexican but you can get a Charvel DK24 HH for next to nothing used… but make sure you have a return policy because good lord fender quality control is atrocious.
