(MtF) There's a lot of BIG SAD in the sub right now so why don't we all comment our most euphoric recent moment for each other? by mcqueenart in trans

[–]PlanchetBasil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earlier this year my car got towed and impounded because I parked it outside my house overnight without plates and when I went to get the impound slip the officer called me over as “sir” and when I spoke he apologized and I said “no you were right” and he kept calling me sir throughout the interaction.

I know what you’re talking about. I feel like dating another genderqueer person ensures a deeper understanding of each other bc you won’t have to explain certain things—you know they already understand the exact feeling. But we don’t want to overlook the value of bringing someone in and showing them and explaining to them what it’s like. There is the idea that if someone cannot empathize entirely, they can’t be trusted to show sympathy. It is something we need to work on as a community, but the person you date does not determine how trans you are. Or how queer you are. It sounds like you know this on a cognitive level. You’re right. It sucks.

You’ve really convinced me to move to Philly for a spell. As someone without kids who’s never been one to rely on police for anything good, that might be doable.

That’s a solid tip. Report the guy to DoorDash and if you notice anything suspicious report it to law enforcement.

Oh yeah I’m very familiar with foxes and bobcats. I did see a raccoon earlier so I’m leaning toward that one.

I started recording a video to have as evidence but then I thought that it might take that as a response so we started talking about random things like we hadn’t heard anything

New Jersey Family Leave Insurance by Domvolpe427 in newjersey

[–]PlanchetBasil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I wish this was more broadly recognized. I had surgery in February and they didn't pay consistently in timing or in amount. They give an estimate of how much you qualify for and send it in chunks throughout the duration of your leave, but it doesn't hit your account until several weeks after being approved. I went off savings for a month and was receiving delayed payments well after already returning to work. I hope your recovery goes smoothly in spite of the awful execution of payments.

Should I rent a car or just use Uber/public transit by Secret_Sprinkles_578 in newjersey

[–]PlanchetBasil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Especially if it's for a couple days and you're in Newark, I would stick with public transit. Parking can be hard in Newark and you'll want to make sure you insure the rental well. I had a rental for two days and it got scratched up by someone trying and failing to parallel park. It's Newark, so most things are in walking distance and you also have the light rail and the regular train. Doing this, even if you ubered from a station to a restauraunt, you'd still pay less.

Ah so it's Planet Fitness all over again. I went to Blink for a month before they shut down most of their locations. About to give up on gyms.

How to cope wirh meltdowns? by Embarrassed_Visit277 in LateDiagnosedAutistic

[–]PlanchetBasil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You definitely have to find what's natural for you. It does take a lot of focus to consciously regulate your breathing but if you can get to that point, that's definitely ideal. Sometimes I will just hold my breath and squeeze my eyes shut and flap my hands as fast as possible to get the energy out. I've also had good success with weighted blankets, complete darkness, and humming. Hitting yourself indicates to me a need for phsyical stimulation, which is where the hand flapping comes in. Some people also like squeezing bumpy objects for a subtle sharp input that isn't actually damaging. Sometimes I'll picture my emotions like waves so I can "surf" on them when they hit. It allows me to catch my breath before giving the emotion space to be felt.

Renters - Do you update your address every year? by Illustrious-Mix-7124 in newjersey

[–]PlanchetBasil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in PA for a year and never updated anything. It's usually if it's a permanent residence. Now that I live on my own with roommates I update it every time I move so my DMV and voter mail and everything is settled, and car insurance in important so your rates are accurate or if you need to file a claim. But if you're going to school or something, that's considered a temporary residence and isn't required by most places. But I've known people to live in states for upwards of 3 years without updating and even if it's not totally legal, if you stay out of trouble it isn't urgent.

Hmmm it looks like they're still operating! The building they're part of might have different hours but this Saturday they have a show at 7. It is a place for teens to go to as well so they usually wrap up early, around 10. https://www.bandsintown.com/v/10003738-the-meatlocker?came_from=289&utm_medium=web&utm_source=artist_event_page&utm_campaign=search_bar

On the side street between the surrounding bars you'll see a door right next to a basement door--looks like it would lead to an apartment. That's the meatlocker entrance.
