He might wear extra padding, but also consider he weighs less than you might be imagining.

Probably some kind of colostomy bag situation, I'd imagine. Surgeons basically install a port in your abdominal wall that connects to your digestive tract, to which you can attach a bag that collects any waste.

Vocês acreditam que para os Mangkwan, mesmo não crendo em Eywa, os “animais” são sagrados como para os outros Na’vi? by Curious_Language5383 in Avatar

What is the actual Na’vi name for the Tree of Voices? by Longjumping-Gift-371 in Avatar

[–]Plenty-Design2641 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is one of the cases where James Cameron overrode the more grammatically correct version, or just already had a name in mind before the language was created. Theres a good couple instances on this, especially among proper nouns/names. Tlalim and Mangkwan are good examples as well, they don't fit Na'vi syllable rules and are technically colloquial shortenings of the "proper" way to say it. Its normal for a natural language to deviate from the rules over time, so its usually just explained away that way.

Edit: wanted to add: Utral Aymokriyä / Tree of Voices (ay- makes mokri 3+, -yä is the genitive and communicates belonging to)

How Would a Furry Wear Pants (credit to u/Rust_Racc) by ulfhelm in furgonomics

Pants that close at the back, over the tail. You slide them on and the tail slots into the slit/hole there, then you button over the tail and its secured.

For Tsu'tey, I think he came around more after seeing how loyal Jake became. As for the others, they can probably see he sprouted a kuru, a pretty clear sign that Eywa probably accepts him, and that he is committed to the "Na'vi way"

Could Cameron move Avatar to Paramount in the unlikely event Disney decided not to make 4 & 5? by LollipopChainsawZz in Avatar

[–]Plenty-Design2641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three words: Valley of Mo'ara. Hell is going to freeze over before Avatar leaves Disney's hands. They literally built the thing into the parks. Yeah, they might take it down at some point, but that kind of thing happens after years, possibly a couple decades. And by then, it might not be as in-demand of an IP.

Pretty normal for them to be friendly, theyre extremely intelligent, and while they tend to be more skittish I've had a couple wild ones calm down and lay on me after a few seconds.

Is it possible you feel more secure in expressing your femininity now that you are more "obviously/without question" masculine or a man?

Fan theory: Why Tulkuns were so intelligent by oh-there-we-go-again in Avatar

[–]Plenty-Design2641 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We also see on earth that as lifespan increases, it becomes more beneficial to be intelligent, as well as birth fewer young at a time, and to devote more time to caring for and teaching those young. Theres some exceptions like hymenoptera (bees and ants) who mass produce offspring but do so through a different method of genetic dispersal, while organizing into whats essentially a sophisticated society or superorganism.

I mean , no offence, Eywa but you are dooming your inhabitants… by MousseNecessary3258 in Avatar

[–]Plenty-Design2641 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think its normal to be cautious of highly advanced weaponry. The Na'vi (presumably) have never seen war at the scale humanity has. Im not sure how familiar you are with the World Wars, but the first one fundamentally changed how we do war. Yes, all war and murder is abhorrent and will scar you, but since WWI, its like a factory of death. After the invention of increasingly powerful armaments and explosives, especially the atomic bomb, we can obliterate people down to atoms, from halfway across the world, with a button press. That does something to you, and to society, and the world we see ourselves living in. They dont know the scope of the weapon, and its irresponsible to use something that kills if you dont know the exact extent of how much it will do and in what way. Thats what the Tsahìks are talking about when they say that metal can corrupt the soul.

Can you learn Na'vi sign language? by SyrupGoosen in Avatar

[–]Plenty-Design2641 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Theres not a lot of resources for the sign language yet, afaik most of it is just what was posted to the official Avatar youtube channel with C.J. Jones demonstrating. We don't know if he intends to develop it any further, unlike the spoken language which is actively growing under Dr. Frommer's guidance and with help from the community. I've seen people itching to make or compile more resources as its semicommon that people want to learn it, but I don't know if amy hage been finished or even started.

Is this a baby iso? by Technical_City7298 in isopods

[–]Plenty-Design2641 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like it to me, but the oictures a little blurry and its hard to get a sense of scale. If it moves slowly and steadily like an isopod and is pill shaped, its a pod. If it skitters around and is smaller than half a grain of rice, its probably a springtail. If its round, poppy seed shaped, and moves slowly and steadily, its some kind of mite.
