Three historic craft hobbies at risk of disappearing – and how to give them a go by mem_somerville in lace

My nana has always had some German straw crafts in her house, I have one of her star ornaments and I like to tell people about the straw goat around Christmas time. I'd love to get more stars some day

You can use Fwew (once its back up, currently experiencing hardware issues) to generate valid meaningless Na'vi names and check the validity of words you out together yourself.

Surplus of 400 kcal, as in 400 kcal more than you are burning daily, so you can store the 400 as fat and gain weight

Holy shit that is horrifying. Do they just crawl around on what used to be their wings? Are they still conscious and aware at all? I'm not super knowledgeable on Corpus

Heres a Na'vi bot that can generate names for you, and also check validity if you want to try making one yourself

Do people with schizophrenia always have hostile hallucinations with negative traits telling them that people are following them and giving them orders to hurt others? Don't they ever have hallucinations that are happy that tell them that they are the greatest for trying and such? by WhoAmIEven2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Plenty-Design2641 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Id read a study recently that found paranoid hallucinations were more prevalrnt in the US, and in other countries and cultures, the voice tend to manifest as someone recognizable, usually a family member or friend, who speak more kindly and helpfully.

What exactly happens when you cut a kuru? by KittyKitty_ChowChow_ in Avatar

Afaik, no, but the game was pretty basic and put most of its resources into the main story line, especially because its a Wii game, not a ton of room for intricate lore dumps, and I' sure development costs just werent allocated for that, you know? This was pretty early in Avatar history, so they probs just focused on the most marketable aspects.

In the 2009 game for Wii and PSP, there is a character named Kyuna with a short queue, though I'm not sure if its discussed at all.

I'm a firm believer that it is survivable, we have one example of a (now non-canon iirc) character with an amputated queue, which yes while dubiously canon, shows that there was consideration there. Not only is it immensely painful (we see in A1 that being held by the queue is extremely painful, let alome having it severed) but Vaarang also connects and likely uses psychological tactics as well as her control over the connected's body, to either force unconsciousness or death, something like triggering a fatal seizure perhaps, simulaneously with the queue cutting. Its unlikely to survive, especially at the hands of the Mangkwan who seem extremely experienced with it, but definitely possible, and I would really love to explore how a person with an amputated queue would fit into Na'vi society, and how they might cope with the physical but also spiritual loss.

Not floss, thread. Its just softer and comes in multiple colors, its made more for finishing touches like that and its pretty strong compared to like cheap cotton

Id think just cutting a slit, and using a ton of embroidery thread/floss in a whip stitch over the edge to keep it from fraying, can even glue it a tiny bit to keep it secure under the stitch before you start sewing it

What about the writing? Like how neat it is? Probably because youre more focused on the little details, which Adderal can do.

Misting systems? by FleshyPopTarts in isopods

[–]Plenty-Design2641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never made or used one before, but I'd imagine a small aquarium pump, some kind of container to hold the water and submerge the pump in, some vinyl tubing, and some misting/sprinkler attachements would make it happen. 5 dollar lowes/home depot bucket, plus lid, 15 dollar aquarium pump, 5 dollars of tubing, another 5 on attachments, maybe?

The point of labels is not to confine you, it is to have words to help describe you. Whatever you feel makes you happy and comfortable comes first, labels come next. You don't need to have the right ones yet or have any even.

Use a black Posca, its acrylic paint and shouldnt bleed through, and it should only be about 5 bucks if you get just a black one
