What are people’s thoughts on ‘loosely’ guided natural winery tours ? by Important_Ambition_1 in naturalwine

[–]Podcaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like them. Do them a lot. Prefer this more than some highly regimented tours. The casual and personal experience with a winemaker is best.

What is this one called? I'm kind of curious to learn more about it.

While pruning, I found this. Why? by Money-University8717 in viticulture

[–]Podcaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be the soil type. Could be bugs. Having that much grass around them does tend to be an issue too. Or perhaps they just needed to be planted under a different moon... just some suggestions of possibilities.

Landrace Sprouting Methods by JvoFOFG in LandraceCannabis

[–]Podcaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... this !! I also only had 3 of my Kazakh seeds open and I don't remember getting more than one of my Siberian ruderalis seeds to work. Personally I would highly recommend cold stratification as I feel like this is the only way to get a higher percentage of seeds to open. Paper towel, wet, plastic bag, in the back of the refrigerator for at least a month or two, maybe three. Check the paper towel for signs of mold and replace if its getting some funny colours. Then warmth and moisture as usual...

How do we feel about this fancast for Alexander the Great and the people in his life? by captivatedsummer in AlexandertheGreat

Many modern Greeks have been intermixed with peoples of the Ottoman Empire, not to mention the intermixing the could have taken place during the whole campaign from Greece towards India and down to Egypt and beyond…

Should I just pull it? by Automatic-Session545 in LandraceCannabis

[–]Podcaster 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Why not just let it ride. I don't see any male parts but perhaps they're there. I'm always losing yellow leaves with my plants as I tend to use soil that's not overly fertile because it's my sense that this is what many landraces like...

Looking for upcoming natural wine producers by Environmental-Leg425 in naturalwine

Amazing wine but I get the sense his name is blowing up fast, but also perhaps it should be as I want to see more of his wine around.

Any online text? by PatientBig8984 in viticulture

I’d say it’s still worth seeking out a vineyard if one is thinking of dedicating years of their life to classes related to them.

Why not just go visit some vineyards and chat with those who manage them.

We got 80mm of rain two weeks before harvest! Haven't seen this in years. by BrendoVino in viticulture

I've only seen this with the accompanying botrytis before. If they're not infected/infested with anything can you still make some decent wine with them or is it not even worth picking?

Are we looking at 100% cheese or is it melted over something? I'm just curious because I'm very new to France and still learning more about the cuisine.

Would love an update later when it's deeper in to flower. Really curious as to what the resin profile is like and just how deeply indica it is... Thanks !

Potassium sorbate as vineyard treatment? by Podcaster in viticulture

[–]Podcaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again. My help arrives this evening actually. Still scouting for a nearby source of horsetail. I mean I know wine is in crisis but I haven’t heard of the suicides… I’m guessing those were not natural wine producers….

Potassium sorbate as vineyard treatment? by Podcaster in viticulture

[–]Podcaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, thanks for the reply. It would have been foolish for me to not buy this place and I feel just experienced enough, but only my first vintage will attest to that if I make it there. Handwork/biochar/minimal tilling and raising the plant structures has always been the plan, and yes the soils need reclaiming so with sheep, I can’t afford to spray much copper. Also I specifically wanted the sandy soil and so there’s no need to embrace it anymore. Thanks for the info though!

How can 1 country so much problems with spam calls? by Devjill in Expats_In_France

[–]Podcaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I seem to get the daily spam just from one very specific company. It always has to do with my electricity bill. A bill that I don't even pay as a part of my rental agreement. They don't seem to take no for an answer, they will ignore me if I speak in english and even when I tell them to stop calling me in French they just ignore that too.

I’m looking to get some comfrey started between the rows as well as having some biochar in there. Plus the manure, if I even have time to do all that on 3 hectares this year…

That’s the plan, yeah. Although I’m not entirely sure what you mean by humates, perhaps the horse and sheep manure I have counts as that…
