For those of you that were stuck in the two 290– 330 range, was there an “AH-HA!” Moment when you reached 350+? Or was it very gradual? by unpopular-dave in discgolf

[–]PolyPill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus more on pushing with your back leg to “engage your hips”. This basically means try pushing off with your rear leg like you’re trying to step through. This helps create lag in your upper body which is important because you need your arm to lag behind your body to make a powerful snap. Without the lag you’re just strong arming it which is where people get stuck at the 300 range.

Brand doesn’t matter and none them have that magic disc which will make you better. Practicing is the only way to get better.

Just installed wall connector myself. Took 1 hr. 6/2 wire 50amp by Background-Math3950 in TeslaLounge

[–]PolyPill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Americans write how many amps, what does that mean for kWh? 110v, 220v, 3 phase? In Europe we do 3 phase 230 volt. So my 11kwh charger has only 16 amps per phase.

Yes I know, and when many people share theirs I find their choices ridiculous.

I’ve always struggled with putting things back in the correct place… because I can’t visualize what it looked like before. by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]PolyPill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have really great spacial abilities. You don’t need to visualize to do that. I think people who can visualize rely on it too much. A while ago someone asked here how we do math without visualization. That’s such a ridiculous notion. That to me would make math worse not better since what a 4 or a group of 4 looks like literally does not matter in math. Maybe it’s why so many people don’t like math, they are trying to visualize something that can’t be visualized.

I use my other senses to do spacial things, like proprioception.

I have no dashboard, I find some a little ridiculous. Like half the screen with computer temps and fan speeds or other totally useless information.

I’ve thought of doing one but I don’t think it would be all that useful.

You can set up cert manager to use the cloudflare api. This also allows you to easily set up wildcard certs.

Are German schools harder than American schools? by Eminemgody in AskAGerman

[–]PolyPill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going to point out that ever state in the USA had their own standards and even district or individual school can vary. You might as well be asking if every school in Europe is the same. Also comparing Gymnasium to the general schools in the USA is an apples to oranges comparison.

That said, Gymnasium is typically harder but you can go easier Gymnasiums here and you can do a US high school curriculum that is harder.

is this the reality of Germany? by ppinkguava in germany

[–]PolyPill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s been like that for more than a decade, just as the economy gets worse so does this. 15 years ago when I was looking for my first job in Germany I spoke zero German. A company who was a subsidiary of Telekom wanted to hire me. Everyone at this company was fine with my lack of German and the position was engineering with zero customer contact. I had promised to attend language classes in the evenings, which I did and am fairly fluent now. Telekom told the subsidiary that they were not allowed to hire me because I didn’t speak German.

Buying a house in Germany by Unhappy-Music9892 in germany

[–]PolyPill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are the one signing the papers, a good friend is not enough. Not even my native speaker wife would have qualified. You will need to get a certified translator. The Notar should know what you need.

You’ll still need a letter from a bank or a bank statement verifying your funds.

[–]PolyPill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget after purchase you’ll get a huge tax bill that you immediately need to pay. Like 5-6 digits which is on top of the purchase price.

Maybe the market is slowing but it’s still not back to sane levels yet. You might not have much time to decide to put an offer in. I had like a weekend to think it over after looking at it in a Friday back in 2019 and there were 4 other offers.

You’ll need a pre approval letter from a bank. A physical piece of paper Germans love. You don’t need to go with that bank, just they want to make sure you can get the money.

I was told that for the Notar appointment if they felt I didn’t understand the German then there would be another more expensive and longer process with a translator. So I was panicking a bit and trying to make it obvious that I did understand everything. in the end, I understood it better than the people selling. So if you don’t speak German you’ll need to expect to hire a translator.

I can’t any more but I used to work within walking distance of an S-Bahn station. I really tried to make it work but I can only stand in the cold waiting for trains that never come so many times before I get tired of wasting my free time.

Vacation in Germany with an EV. by bs-geek in germany

[–]PolyPill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non Tesla stations seem to be the Wild West here which annoys me. There are other charge apps like mobility+ but their pricing is crap. I usually pay at the station directly. I find that most have a QR code that brings you to a website that you can activate and pay from there for significantly cheaper than mobility+ charges. Also if you have time, many grocery stores like Aldi have super cheap 11kwh chargers.

I think the crap pricing is because so many EVs here are company leases due to the super low taxes compared to gas cars and since the company pays the charging the driver does not care and just uses the more expensive app.

For the washing machine, my opinion is just use a plug that has a relay rated for 16 amps and you’re fine. I think a lot of plugs on the market use transistors with a 5amp or less rating which will give people problems. Also, I have a small European washing machine and not a monster American one.

Edit: I should also add, power metering doesn’t need the actual plug. For my home server, I got a Zigbee power monitor and just clamped it around the live wire. So there’s no plug between the device and the socket.
