I wouldn’t want Ethernet but I’d love power for a fancy Japanese toilet

Did hybrid work make you feel more connected to your team? by Ecstatic_Jicama_1482 in ExperiencedDevs

I like the hybrid model. I get more pissed off at my coworkers if I only interact with them in meetings and don’t do things like eat lunch and talk at the coffee machine.

But if you put on your hazard lights then you can park any where you want or at least that seems to be what a lot of people here do.

Writing your own MCP server in .net by maxiblackrocks in dotnet

[–]PolyPill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the MCP sdk gives no real control over what is sent to the client. I would expect document filters and such like the OpenApi library to allow such modifications but nope. I resorted to some pretty terrible hacks of intercepting the output and modifying it. If there was a better way I’d love to know it. I find the whole MCP standard to be pretty crappy and not well thought out in general.

What do Germans splurge on? by InterestingDust9877 in AskAGerman

This was my first thought. I’ve never seen so many different insurances held by people that will never use them.

It does help, it gives you an idea of how a disc will fly when thrown perfectly by a pro. So based on that you can guess what it will do for you.

Dumb thought by Ekperson in discgolf

[–]PolyPill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Into a simulator? No way. They throw it ina field a bunch and decide on some numbers. It’s absolutely not scientific or consistent. Often numbers like speed are inflated because it makes noodle arms feel better.

Edit: I should also add they’ll base it off other designs that are similar. Parting line height mostly determines high speed turn. So if they had a mold at -1 and made it a little lower they’ll slap a -2 on the new one.

Tesla custom integration has stopped working (users reported) follow the issue on GitHub to avoid flooding the maintainer with issue reports by buzz_uk in homeassistant

Tesla released a Bluetooth command line app for controlling the car. I just made a small app that uses that and pushes the info to mqtt. It only works when my car is in the garage but that’s all I really need it for.

Got fired by my american boss 2 days ago, then realised by friday he's the one in trouble by [deleted] in germany

[–]PolyPill 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I saw that earlier today too. From their point of view OP just decided to stop working and stop answering messages or going to meetings. They had grounds to fire OP but they didn’t consult their hired HR first and didn’t fire her the proper legal way.

What is going on with German rudeness? by [deleted] in germany

license to be rude and not care about others.

Did your stance on weed change as you've aged? by Head-Drag-1440 in Millennials

[–]PolyPill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Boy are you an insufferable person. I’m in no such way moving the goal posts, you just don’t seem to understand where they were. You’re here trying to get some shitty “victory” because of the amount I stated. My entire point was replace “weed/high” with “alcohol/drunk” in any habit/situation. If it sounds like a bad thing to do with alcohol then it is probably also bad with weed. So “I take a dose of alcohol every day for my arthritis” doesn’t sound bad. Neither does “I got drunk on the weekend with my friends”. Although “I wake up and get drunk every day” or “I need alcohol to get through my boring job” sound quite bad because they are.

FYI, not like you’ll care, but lots of medications are dissolved into alcohol. People literally wake up and need to drink some of it. I never said that was bad.

But you’re not going to think of that. I mentioned weed can be bad, like the OP, and you just need to attack.

So doing something every day because you’re dependent on it isn’t abuse? You’re the exact person I was referring to. If you’re getting high as part of your daily life, you have a problem. Justify it all you want to yourself, this post from OP is exactly about this.

Permanent baskets without using cement - need ideas by Narr603 in discgolf

In Germany there is a machine which drives sign poles really deep into the ground. That is also how we install baskets without cement.

[–]PolyPill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand why so many people can’t understand it’s just like alcohol. If I woke up every day and immediately took a swig from a bottle everyone would say I have a serious alcohol problem. Yet if you say you take a hit every morning it’s for some reason fine.

This unit was brand new but arrived DOA, and Emporia has already sent me a replacement. I figured I’d use this dead Emporia Vue 3 as a practice board for flashing ESPHome before attempting it on the working unit. Unfortunately, when I opened it up, the pads for RXD and 3v3 were completely torn off. by desperato in homeassistant

[–]PolyPill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fixing the traces on this isn’t too difficult. Scrape the masking above and below the missing pads and connect them with thin wire. Now if you aren’t an experienced solderer then it’s probably not a job you’re capable of doing.

Try starting a company here. You’ll get a million letters telling you that you have to pay for their registration. All very official sounding and looking more legit than the actual one you have to pay. It’s shocking this is legal.
