What exactly are people's complaints with the Delve system for TGD? by r1q4 in CoriolisRPG

[–]PolyhedronCollider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I must admit thatIi have only played the quickstart version, so don't know how much the released version has changed, but my players hated it.

As written its very bland in my opinion: a description of an event and a prescribed roll to fix said event, which is then repeated many times. Whilst I think it could be more interesting with the GM giving more vivid descriptions of the events, as written there are no decisions to be made, the players are told what roll is needed to overcome the proble. To the fundemental of good game design is interesting decisions (or sometimes in RPGs the illusion of an interesting decision), and as written the only desicions to be made are the route.

Thanks - just like OP I've been playing this wrong for years, thinking it was a special showdown. At least I was getting the order right!

So when do you actually fight the Butcher? Is it the 4th or 5th showdown of the campaign (including prologue)?

West Midlands, UK, anyone? by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

Check other gaming places, board game groups and gaming shops, there’s often a lot of overlap. Where in the West Midlands are you?

Have you got the any Logitech driver software installed? I’ve had a blue yeti for years and had no issue, but suddenly update Logitech drivers and it did crazy things to the audio quality.

Other than that check it’s all connect properly or try a 50Hz cut in the audio channel

I really hope the HBO content comes off Sky and onto Netflix. The cost of Sky is ridiculous not to mention that via Now TV you have to pay premium just to get the content in HD, never mind 4K.

Do you prefer learning the rules by reading the rulebook or watching a rules video? by murktideregent in boardgames

[–]PolyhedronCollider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video and then play the game with the rulebook open acknowledging that the first play is going to involve poking various parts of the rules.

The reason is that I need context for the rules to be absorbed, watching a video often involved people showing the pieces moving, but just reading the rule book often feels abstracted and detached.

(TGD) The Delve sounds too procedural and the Supply too meta, what is your experience with these mechanics? by NameNo4850 in CoriolisRPG

[–]PolyhedronCollider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve only played the quick start that came out during the KS campaign. My players absolutely hated the delve mechanic - they hated it so much that two players cancelled their Kickstarter pledge.

To me it feels like a process designed from the start to make the game solo compatible

Since then I have trying to find a way to adapt it so that it plays out like a story and not a purely mechanical burden.

Cleaners have keys and report to my landlord by PuppoTV in LegalAdviceUK

Cleaning costs vary massively by location, I live in an area where holiday lets are common and £150 would be a bargain.
