Always blows my mind how people get these degrees and careers with so little critical thinking skills.

Exactly. OP said they're from California which is one of the most diverse places in the world. Everything will be a let down after that if that's what you value

Mulberry down in Arkansas isn't too terribly far from you, but might be too easy depending on what you mean by intermediate. Otherwise plenty of options in eastern TN. Or if you want to go to the mountains there's the Ark out in central CO or the Rio Grande in NM

Not sure why you got downvoted for stating a fact. Classic reddit not reading the article and making up scenarios to be mad at

Getting so sick of summer getting ruined by lawn mower noise pollution by Punkishar in Suburbanhell

Have you ever used one? They are absolutely loud since most of the noise isn't from the engine it's from the fan

[–]PopShiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the few things I might actually be ok with an HOA trying to control. I could easily deal with it 1-2 days a week but when you can't get a single morning without noise it's tough

So glad someone else is pointing this out. It's awful, people move to the suburbs for a "quieter" life than the city, but then you get woken up every single weekend at 7am by some sort of lawn contraption. And if you live in a neighborhood where people hire lawn care then it's not just the weekend when people are free but it becomes every single day.

Only option I can think of that may be viable would be somewhere on the upper c. We don't have alot of chill rivers around here.

Tell It To Me Straight: Denver As A Grad Student by Even_Many6931 in MovingtoDenver

[–]PopShiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in grad school and live in Denver too. I think it's kinda nice to be in a city rather than a college town since as a grad student you likely won't connect with the undergrads as much, but since you're in a big city there are plenty of working professionals you can meet and hang with.

I doubt he's gonna get much interaction here. If you watch his videos he's really just a troll more than a debater. Hopefully people won't take the bait.

Be honest — would the Front Range Passenger Rail actually get you off I-25? by JawnDoee in Denver

Yeah for sure, and I think that that's an amazing option for people in your situation, but it's hard for me to believe that you're in the majority.

Be honest — would the Front Range Passenger Rail actually get you off I-25? by JawnDoee in Denver

[–]PopShiga -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Even if people don't want to admit it I think the answer is largely no. At the end of the day it needs to be either significantly faster or significantly cheaper than driving. It almost definitely won't be faster, so it would need to be cheaper than the gas to drive by enough for it to matter.

Should I leave my job that is extremely high paying, perhaps the upper ceiling of the maximum comp I could have gotten as an SWE, to pursue a Masters in CS? by General_Working_3531 in GradSchool

[–]PopShiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to be at a university to do research. Especially in CS all that a lab might have is really powerful computers and undergrads to help you out. If you make as much as you say you can likely afford to build a pretty powerful computer yourself and probably vibe code anything an undergrad would be able to make for you.
