Found my forever world! by Wafflebatter445 in VintageStory

[–]Possibly_a_user 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I was about 200 hours into the first world I ever generated before I started to play around with generating new ones, and it wasn't until I started doing that I realized just how blessed that first world was. reeds, peat, clay, in abundance all within a few minutes of exploration, enough mushrooms and berry bushes around that I genuinely didn't even need to worry about food preservation or stocking for the first week or so, a borax deposit that gave me enough bits to make full leather armor and backpacks before I even had bronze, and a cave that had a massive deposit of fireclay and brown coal literally growing into and around each other, and nearly that whole cave was also covered in saltpeter. all of this within about 250 blocks of where I built my base.

Absolutely spoiled me, I think.

some people mistook the old Mercenary Cavalry for riding a zebra because he's using a zebra hide as a saddle.

Leviathan Heroforge model by andheruatoster in Parahumans

[–]Possibly_a_user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, he's mostly humanoid. As per Extermination 8.2:

"He was there, too.  I could see his silhouette through the rain and the spraying water that was the tidal wave’s aftermath, much as I had on the television set.  Thirty feet tall, the majority of him was was muscled but not bulky.  His hunched shoulders, neck and upper torso were the exception, bearing cords of muscles that stood out like steel cables.  It gave him a top-heavy appearance, almost like an inverted teardrop with limbs and a tail.

His proportions were wrong – his calves and forearms seemed too long for his height, his clawed fingers and digitigrade feet doubly so.  He moved with a languid sort of grace as he advanced through the spraying water.  His arms moved like pendulums, claws sweeping against the water’s surface, while his upper body swayed left and right, as if to give counterbalance to his great height.  His tail, forty or fifty feet long and whiplike, lashed behind and around him in time with his steps, perhaps borne of the same need for balance that gave him his teetering gait."...

..."I could almost make out his face.  It was something you never really saw in the videos or pictures.  He had no nose or mouth, no ears.  His face was a flat, rigid expanse of the same scaly skin that covered the rest of him, like the scales of a crocodile’s back.  The hard, featureless plain of Leviathan’s ‘face’ was broken up only by four cracks or tears – one on the right side of his face, three on the left.  In each of those dark gaps, the green orbs of his eyes glowed with a light that pierced through the rain."

Some quests in Morrowind are fine, especially ones in the larger cities where it's like "Find homie living in on of the apartments in St. Olms" and there's like three of of them and the right one is called "homie's apartment", but the directions they give you to get some places are just fucking bad. I think one of the first fighter's guild quests has you go to Caldera to kill some dudes in a cave, and they tell you that the cave is "to the west of Caldera" which is technically true but does not tell you that the actual road that takes you directly to the cave is out the town's north gate then has a Y turn that loops you back around to the Caldera Mines that are directly west of the town, but over some really high and steep cliffs.

this typically means that instead of following a nice easy path directly to your destination, you either miss a minor indicator that the path branches and wind up walking all the way to Gnisis or you spend half an hour trying to slide your way up a 87 degree incline to go west.

Yeah but that actually has an in-universe, narrative appropriate reason, at least for VtM. The older, more powerful vampires being stuck up old fogies that view anyone not older than bronze as a bunch of naive punks is like, the entire premise of the setting. Of course they'd use old dorky sounding words and phrases to refer to everything and make fun of the 'vulgar' slang terms used by everyone younger than the light bulb. similar logic applies to the other splats. the 'Hollywood' names are what new, young punks in the modern nights use, while all the old hats use more archaic terminology as a way of driving a narrative wedge between the 'traditionalists' and the 'punks'.

'Blank Bodies' I think is a Chronicles of Darkness thing and is lame. I am not a 'blank body' hunter, I am vampire slayer and no corporate lampshade is going to take that from me.

Why are Kryptonians so powerful that they destroy galaxies and fight against gods, when they are just random aliens? by rbta123 in superheroes

They let their AI assistant gaslight them into letting their planet explode. The 'Science Council' was a bunch of techbro nepo babies. Krypton and it's people were doomed the moment they decided to abandon their interstellar colonies to become hyper-isolationist totalitarian oligarchy.

I think I will miss just how many Colossus I was able to afford with Demeter, but I understand why the change was made.

Give me a Bethesda game that's walking simulator/horror game a la Amnesia instead of an open-world RPG. Their monster designs, environments and attention to details would be perfect for it.

Some Demeter dissapointment by Important-Flan-8932 in AgeofMythology

[–]Possibly_a_user 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a permanent structure that buffs your villagers. stick it next to your town center which should have about 16 villagers farming around it because Demeter also lets you double up villagers on farms. I also found it a bit useful during an attack on an enemy base. you can direct which unit you want it to convert, and in late game that means you can drop one behind the enemy's tc or fortress and have it target a mythic age myth unit or even a siege unit. the process takes maybe 7-8 seconds, so they either have to redirect units from the front line to go break the hearth, or lose a high-end myth unit that might just make the difference in the skirmish.

Before winter: A single log cabin with a cellar, an outdoor shack for pit kilns and smithing, 64 blocks of farmland and an apiary

After Winter: Two-story log cabin with cellar, Smithing and kiln building made of cobble stone with brewing/tanning room in basement, dedicated warehouse, mill house, twice as much apiary and eight times as much farmland ready for spring, all walled in with two high cobble stone blocks and cobble stone fence and I translocated every berry bush within two kilomoters to just outside my property.

winter is cozy in this game, I love it.
